    I do believe you've given this old boy another new side hobby. Thanks, my friend. I can't seem to watch enough of these restoration videos. I just got out of a 5-year rc building hobby. That can get to be a very expensive little "addiction" before you know it. I've just always enjoyed working on and fixing useful things.

    • @Uwannawatch

      rc cars That's an awesome hobby. When I was in my later teens I was really into them and yes it does get very expensive. I'm glad you enjoyed the video and I can tell you this hobby can be expensive too.. But I usually try to just find things from the Flea market and yard sales.so at least the initial investment isn't too bad. Keep us posted about what you get up to fixing. take care.

    New Britain made so many tools as an OEM for other brands, I love their fine tooth ratchets, they’re such a joy to use!
    Those 8 point sockets are great to have around for square nuts on old stuff.
    Nice find, especially for $1.00 ⚡️⚡️⚡️

    • @Uwannawatch
      @Uwannawatch  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks Man! Ya I gotta dig through my hoard and see if I got some more of those 8 points. New Britain is the one brand I don't see a lot of here so finding it in a rusted up $1 set was totally amazing! Take care and see ya soon!

    I have that exact same set that was originally my father's. He kept it on his Harley's in the 1940's. The ratchet is not part of the set. There is also a small 6" round metal bar that goes through the hole on the breaker bar to give one a T type grip that is missing from the set. As an FYI, the original color was similar to military green. Great job on restoring it!

    I once bought a set of such cheap tools at one of those here for one day tool sales. And of course they rusted almost before I got them home. I too wire brushed them on a bench grinder wire wheel setup and they again looked good for a very little time. If I had to do it over, I would have cleaned them up and then plated them in a Nickel Acetate solution and made them both look good and be rust proof...

    Great video. A couple of suggestions. 1. If you don't have any evaporust, you can use vinegar and backing soda. I'm not a fan of the chemicals, and this is a good alternative. 2. I use all-purpose grease for the ratchets instead of oil.

    That's interesting to see square nut sockets included in the set. Nice resto and a great price. I'd much rather spend the time and effort to cleanup an old American socket set than to purchase a new foreign made. I've used rust converter products on my vehicles and the stuff really works well. The first product I used was Por 15 back in the 80s, worked really well but super expensive. Great video George, stay cool.
