I use mine as a dress watch, which is the purpose for which it is designed. I think it would be fine for a round of golf...but I wouldn't wear it for any real sports.
@@timjones9273 from an NY Times article www.nytimes.com/2012/11/23/fashion/watchmakers-court-golfing-world.html - a managing director of Audemars Piguet claimed that “When the golf club hits the golf ball, the impact creates a multitude of vibrations which will go up the shaft of the club and finish in the arm,” when being asked about why top golfers do not wear their (sponsored) watches. Just to add “The wrists, and therefore the watch on the wrist, receive all these vibrations - and a mechanical movement will feel them quite strongly,” and “A golf pro hits not only very hard but hits many, many times,” he added. “The movement has a good chance of not working so well after a while.”.
Sooo, why did you forget to mention that VC turned the 60 minute seconds counter the wrong way, i.e. like it was a normal watch. On the original the 60 minute counter is turned and follow the rest of the dial but on the new one it does not match the dial. I doubt anyone with only a small dose of OCD can unsee this.
Just adding to what I saw is a pretty common reaction. Most definitely not the watch to wear when playing a round of golf. That said, while he mimed a golf shot, we didn't actually see him strike the ball with it on.
I have got the 40mm pink gold and I love it. But I wonder why it cost so much. Is there any special finishing, compared with other cheaper models with same caliber?
Please tell me that a golf ball was not hit wearing this gorgeous watch. At 30m water resistant you’d better hope that there is no heavy rain on the course.
I swim regularly with a 30m resistant watch and it’s never let a drop of water in! There is an excellent article on Hodinkee that shatters the water resistance nonsense spouted these days by someone who is a diver. I say to people when they say it’s crazy that water is no wetter now than when it was when I was a child over forty years ago and wore my child’s Timex in the ocean every day in the summer holidays! Having said that, I do think it unwise hitting a golf ball with a delicate mechanical watch!
I tend to prefer smaller watches, but I actually think the 40mm wears really well. Sort of like the luminor due in that it has a lot of dial presence but short lugs to keep everything well confined.
It’s a beauty but not to be “that guy” I would say another offering they have in the historiques collection, the cornes de vache, is more breathtaking and certainly more complicated.
Doubt that thing could actually survive the impact of a golf round
why not? Phil plays every round with a Rolex
@@joefresso It’s a Vacheron dress watch, not a Rolex sports watch.

It’s just a bad decision to play golf (and many other sports) with mechanical watches… awful for the movements. Put a GShock on People!

Very cool. We need more week on the wrists. There are so many watches constantly coming out -- please do more!
Agreed if they have access to them it’d be nice to see.
That is a ridiculously cool watch. Fun video too. Good job!
My very favorite watch! If they had a stainless version, I would never take it off…
Love the Gatsby theme. I’ll wait until another ‘29 crash when I can buy one.

Yes that's a deal-breaker for me
The second counter?

As I’m getting older I start to appreciate these old designs. This price though… not for us pleb.
Honestly. At 20k this would've been very high on my list
Awesome watch for the era. Looks like a converted pocket watch!
Really enjoyed that. Great job! But, I was getting anxious at the mere suggestion that you would wildly swing a golf club while wearing that watch!
He got me at “it’s a little bit drunk” 🤣
No playing golf with that watch on the wrist

More gold
probably the best looking watch of the year. gergouse.
Love the B-roll, awesome video.
What a piece. Amazing !
Amazing piece of history !!!!
Tanks for show
In strictly design point of view, between yellow gold and white gold which gold do you think if matches better with this particular design and watch?
White gold, If only because yellow/rose have an off white dial which unnecessarily ages the watch.
I like both, the yellow gold has a warm look to it but a do like the white gold with the blue numbers
And don't forget, it's a preachers watch! ;)

@@ianmedium with any mechanical watch actually
I’d buy one tomorrow if I had the money. Delicious and get out of my way Rolex!
Fantastic video !
Masterpiece ever. Great

My grail watch.
Teatime? Might want to finish off that very full glass of bubbly first.
Love it, got the Baltany homage instead 😌
A timeless classic. Just wish it were like 10k cheaper at least lol.
On my to buy list!

Exactly what I was thinking. Golf?
😭😭😭😭i want one …..
Best 'A week on the wrist' vedio ever watched.. ❤️❤️
i want this in rose gold so bad...
The subseconds really needs to be on the same angle as the rest of the dial - it looks awful set straight up like that
That movement looks somewhat pedestrian
Grail.
The watch is wee bit drunk and behind the wheel. What's not to love?
Period correct clubs in the bag would have been a good touch…
Kind of reminds me a bit of the vostok 2403/581887 but not as nice.
A $30K tool watch?? 🤧
"this is a driver watch" (fact check, later voiceover) "it's not a driver watch but we're still gonna say it is". Good video though, very nice
This guy needs to get some sleep!
In Spiderman Meme:
Radiomere ->
You mean Radiomir?
i can afford like...two of these
Enjoyed the video, but 30k for that… is … an atrocity
