But when she walks normaly through the dector it can dect the device aand sound the alarm. And the man at the end of the video is taking the mickry out of her.

I remember when they added safety regulations over thirty years ago so companies like Bic had to add the feature, I think something about obstructing airways was the term used at the time. People were removing and replacing pen lids just fine up until then without the hole. If pressure were an issue then if anything you'd create a slight positive pressure putting the lid on, therefore making it easier to remove it. It actually helped save friend of mine when we were kids, the dumbass inhaled a pen lid and choked on it. Made a kind of wheezing whistling noise. Back then first aid wasn't taught to kids that much (usually only in the scouts and the only scout in the group was the one choking), so no one knew what to do and we were all panicking. They fished it out at the hospital and he was fine, but still stupid.

The lids were usually a softer plastic too so they stretched a little to grip the body, also why they got looser over time. And of course, some lids clicked on too, especially felt tip pens. Lots of differing, although similar designs, but all of those I'm familiar with adopted the hole to allow breathing and not to aid in the removal of the lid.

If it's a really dry period it can get very cold outside without getting any snow. Also in Norway at least, the water doesn't really ice up in the ocean at least. And polar plunges often just mean taking a dip in the ocean when you're past the polar circle in winter, the water temperature is very stable even if the air temperature might fluctuate quite a bit. It's not really a big difference as the water is still pretty much the same temperature, since even in the north pole, if you're swimming you're swimming through water that isn't cold enough to freeze.
The primary purpose of the hole in pen caps is to allow air to escape when you remove the cap from the pen. If the hole wasn't there, the cap could act as a plunger and potentially pull parts of the pen itself with it. People who were kids in the 1980s and had cheap pens may remember this happening to them sometimes, where the removable head of the pen got stuck inside the cap.
I was a child of the 80's and remember the pointy lids they used to have. There was no vacuum created by the lid because the lid was round on a hexagonal pen barrel, it wasn't an airtight seal. It's purely a safety thing as the video suggested.
