There are no elite benefits with the Gold Card. Only access to The Hotel Collection, which gives a $100 property credit + room upgrade when booking through that portal.
Question, I’m going to basic soon, just want a list of cards I should start with, in what span of time, i already have a discover cash back card for gas, what next?
Hi Samuel - I don't advocate a set path to follow. You may find these 3 videos helpful: 1. th-cam.com/video/Bp8p46p-yjE/w-d-xo.html 2. th-cam.com/video/LWVjzwIRkK0/w-d-xo.html 3. th-cam.com/video/2p7egp0iz9M/w-d-xo.html
I wouldn’t worry about credit cards until you have finished your training AIT, and assigned to your first duty station. If your facility has a credit union go there first. USAA, Navy Federal, Langley Federal Credit Union would be the first relationship you should look at. I wouldn’t worry about any of the big banks until later.
I’ve been following your account for a while as I build my credit card game. Thanks to you I got the Amex Gold Plat BCP and a chase FF as I wait for the CSR. Didn’t even realize you made a video targeted to military which I am! This is amazing. Keep it up!
What happens after you retire or separate the military do you lose these cards or the benefits that come with being a military members such as the annual fee being waived?
Would I still get the annual fee waived upon initial approval for a credit card? Or do I have to pay the fee once upon approval and get every year AFTER waived?
Hey Max! Amex has a great website that goes over the benefits and application process. Check it out here: www.americanexpress.com/us/help-support/service-members-civil-relief
@@MarkReese that link does not answer the questing, please could you tell us how it gets waived? Do we apply like anyone and then they see our SSN and know that we are military?
@@claeslind9532 - On the application, choose 'Military' for your income. Then after approval, call the number on the back of the card & request the benefit 👍
HEY, I get out of the military in two years but I still want to get this card. After I ETS, would my fees still be waived? Do I even have to tell them I am longer in the military or is it a one time verification???
Hey Rob! When you first apply, be sure to select 'military' as your source of income. You will be required to submit military orders and/or other proof of service to show you are on active duty and in good standing with your branch of military service. Upon ETS, the benefits will expire. Amex will periodically review your accounts to determine if you're eligible for relief. If they find that eligibility has expired, they will send a letter to notify you at least 45 days prior to the date relief ends on the account 😃🇺🇸
Yes! Here's a direct link to the program breakdown from American Express: www.americanexpress.com/us/help-support/service-members-civil-relief/ The SCRA tab states the eligibility requirements 😃🇺🇸
Hey for the amex if you’re active duty and couple year later you decided to get out, you will need to pay the amex fees the next year after you get out or it will still be $0?
Per the MilitaryBenefits site, "SCRA coverage continues until 30 to 90 days after their date of discharge from active duty." 🇺🇸 Here's the link: militarybenefits.info/servicemembers-civil-relief-act-benefits/
For the chase sapphire reserve would the cost of shipping a pet as checked baggage or shipping a pet from overseas to stateside be covered as travel credit?
I probably wouldn’t include the USAA cash back on this. If you’re active duty, I recommended you add these two. Citi Prestige & Usbank Altitude Reserve. They both waived annual fee.
USAA cash back card is great for soldiers. You can use it as a gas/Commissary card and get 5% back on everything up to 3K spent. Also, it helps you build a relationships with a military focused institution which opens a lot of other benefits later in your in your career. As an active duty Chief Warrant officer it has helped me immensely.

sadly not in the military so can't get USAA card but the other cards are great
Thats a great list mark!
With the gold card do you get vip access?
There are no elite benefits with the Gold Card. Only access to The Hotel Collection, which gives a $100 property credit + room upgrade when booking through that portal.
Bruh why am i only finding out about all these benefits and perks i get a year before my contract ends
Card issuers should do a better job advertising the SCRA/MLA benefits 🇺🇸

As an active duty member I approve this video! Great info!
Thanks Curtis! 😃🇺🇸

What kind of proof does Amex ask for to ser military status?
Hi Shujayet - I'm not sure as I haven't tried it. Call / chat with them to find out 👍
Great video! Thank you
You got it! 😃👍🇺🇸
I sent this video to my active duty friends
Awesome! 💯 Thanks for sharing it. Hope it gives them some value 🥇
What happens after you retire or separate the military do you lose these cards or the benefits that come with being a military members such as the annual fee being waived?
Correct, the benefits will be deactivated.
Thank you for making this video! Helped my friends and I a lot
So glad to hear that Rylan! 😃👍💥
Awesome video like always
Elvis - Thank you! 💯
Who does USAA pull from?
Hey Kyle - not sure; I don't have any USAA cards. I'd search online for data points on other blogs / forums 😃👍
Would I still get the annual fee waived upon initial approval for a credit card? Or do I have to pay the fee once upon approval and get every year AFTER waived?
It should work in Year 1. If the fee posts, call Amex and they should take care of it.
How do you get AMEX to waive the fee? Is it automatic when you apply or do you have to call them?

Yes! Here's a direct link to the program breakdown from American Express: www.americanexpress.com/us/help-support/service-members-civil-relief/

I think Veterans should at least get 50% off annual fees.
I agree 😃👊 The SCRA/MLA benefits are for active duty only, correct?
@@MarkReese Yes, Active Duty and Active Reserve only.
