One of citi premier’s superpowers is 2 years of extended warranty, vs just 1 year with most other cards, including sapphire preferred. Good for purchasing big ticket items
When living overseas, use both. For me, Sapphire Reserve + Strata + NF CashRew 2%. Doing very well with that. Cell phone and streaming paid with WF Autograph.
I have the Strata Premier. I would go for the Sapphire Reserve over the Preferred if I went that route, which will happen if my wife and I do more travel. It does help that I have the Amex Platinum from Morgan Stanley.
I have both. Most of my spend is on AmEx, but I just got the WF Autograph and Citi SP. I like Chase redemption options, but Citi is better in every way for daily spend. If Chase added real groceries and gas stations, I might keep it another year, but as it stands, I’m canceling most of my Chase cards when they are up for renewal. Both my Delta Business Gold and Delta Platinum are better hotel cards, too, the latter includes a companion ticket yearly, while both give $150 hotel credit that is easier to use than either Chase or Citi.
Great video as usual Mark. You mentioned the 24 month warranty extension, which I agree is a significant benefit upgrade relative to other cards and this card's previous iteration.. But I was also taken by the 6-hour travel delay threshold. Most $95 cards specify 12 hours as the minimum delay period. For those who travel, this seems pretty significant as well. Especially since Citi has added these things without increasing the annual fee (yet) .
Very informative 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 literally just got approved for my CSP earning $85K in branch 😊 now u got me thinking 2x on Citi 🧐. But I was completing my Chase trifecta
Hey Mark, just had a question. If someone was just going the cashback route and didn't want AF cards and had alot of non bonus category spend I assume it would be best to have the Double Cash over the CFU?
Hello Mark! Which card would you suggest? I have both the Citi Double Cash (49k points) and Chase Freedom Unlimited (34k points). My biggest categories are dining, groceries and Uber/lyft. I’m trying to do 2 international trips per year.
@@MultiEquations - I'd personally go for the Citi Strata Premier. I just can't guarantee those grocery stores will all code as 'supermarkets' as it'll be based on the merchant code used on the back end. Only way to know for sure is to give it a try.
Portals don’t often provide good value due to inflated prices for air and accommodations. I only look at transfer partners and point accumulation based on my usual spend. I’m holding 15 credit cards right now and I’m taking a break.
Great card but missing high value Air Canada is huge bummer. You can book San Francisco to Switzerland $4k business flight for 70k air Canada points on Swiss air.
Just as an outside perspective that doesn't have either, the Citi looks better. But reading a lot of negative things about Citi's portal and customer service kinda makes me pause.
Wish that the breakdown with these battles was a tad bit more in depth. For instance costumer service....citi runs great set of cards some of the best in the game but if you get caught needing technical support or speak to a rep its almost always down hill.. You are left on your own. Great set of cards but never get cuaght needing a question to be answered or a problem to be solved....ever.
Hey Mark. My comment isn't about this video but I remember you did a great video on getting the wyndham CC, then linking to Caesars reward for the platinum status so you can go to the Atlantis (Bahamas) for free during certain months of the year. I tried to make my first reservation and they told me Caesars cancelled their relationship with Wyndham. They also lowered our rewards status from Platinum to gold. Are you aware they did this?
@@clintonhauck7893 - I've heard nothing about the status match not working when Wyndham status is earned via credit card. It did end via other channels, though. More info here: thepointsguy.com/news/caesars-wyndham-stop-matched-status/
Mark - The one thing I'd like to see in these comparisons is customer support. I know is entirely subjective, so you'd have to think of a way to do it, but Citi's customer support is infinitely more terrible than Chase's.
Thanks for the suggestion 👍 That's not something I intend to cover at this time. I've seen an incredible number of comments over the years from people who "love" the customer service at Bank XYZ while others "hate" the service at the same bank. It largely depends on the rep you get.

Chase needs to get rid of "online grocery" and make it "grocery" 👍
True
100% Online groceries are significantly marked up or included other fees, not allowing in-person groceries is a huge miss.
@@NorthVandea are they? I was under the impression Online with Pickup was roughly the same
Love the online grocery. If you have walmart plus then scan and go codes as online grocery for some reason.
Yes they do!

💯 Team Citi, but that $50 credit looks much better than the $100 credit for $500 spend.
One of the best credit card channels on TH-cam. Thanks for all the effort you put into your videos.
Thank you!
Just hit my 2nd year with CSP, I am still not a fan of Citi, not the correct transfer partners for me. Great video, but I will stick with CSP.
Congrats on year 2!
This video was so helpful! You went so in depth with the information and comparison! You got a new follow!
Thank you!
I will say if you rent cars go with the Sapphire since it's Primary CDW vs Secondary on the Strata
Just don’t get, or at least keep strata. It’s mediocre card, not a keeper.

Facts! I had both but took the upgrade of my Delta Gold to the Delta Reserve and use it with the Platinum for Silver Elite status.
If you saw my previous video, you know which one I chose 😁

Depending on which setup you already are running I've gotten targeted for both but I'm gardening if you're building a trifecta

Congrats on your approval w/ the 85K offer!
Not going to start in the Citi ecosystem until I complete the Chase quadfecta later this year
I did the opposite I did the Citi Traffic first just need to add Citi Custom set up
I’m chase jail 5/24
Got me
I solve the decision by having both. I have CSR, P2 had Strata.
Compare againts Venture X
Hey Mark, just had a question. If someone was just going the cashback route and didn't want AF cards and had alot of non bonus category spend I assume it would be best to have the Double Cash over the CFU?
Strictly for non-bonused spend, yes, I'd go for the Citi DC over the CFU.
CITI Strata Premier. Thanks for the info + video!
mark!! tyvm as always. have you tried/compared max rewards to award wallet, TPG etc?
I haven't compared them all yet.
Can you do Venture X vs BOA premium reward elite vs Chase shapphire reserve ? 😊
Perhaps at some point 👍

With all of the data breaches going on, that virtual card number is a super helpful benefit.

It can vary. An AA flight I booked via the Capital One portal was nearly identical to booking direct (just a few cents off).
Saw someone point out they are both CSPs
Citi is definitely for those who are slightly less travel focused, but still really good
Not sure what you mean by Citi being less of a travel-focused card.

Or.... WF Autograph/Journey much better card for $0/$50AF. Also, are you going to cover the PayPal card getting Nerfed?
PayPal pulled a dick move there. I have that mastercard.
I'm considering a comparison with WF, too. Some big differences there. No plans to cover the PayPal Mastercard at this time.
CSP for me 😊.

Both are "CSP" now 😄 But I realize you're on Team Chase!
