Gabriel thanks for the video a big part I missed was his absolutely devastating calf kicks. He landed like 2-3 and Volkanovskis calf was dead. Also his boxing is so good because he trains it seperately with other high level olympic boxers on top of his MMA training.
bro he is definitely off balance OFTEN with the overhand..... But he only throws it when his opponent is trapped and terrified because they know what this dude does. On god I have seen his feet almost leave the ground throwing that strike. It is scary. Reminds me of Mike Tyson but the angles are different. Topuria is coming down while rotating, Mike was coming up most often but alot of the same principles. His ability to tie his punches into his footwork is something I didn't really notice outright. This is why i tune in. Thanks champ.
Topuria’s overhand right seems very similar to the right cross of the great Joe Louis in boxing. Both fighters had insanely powerful right hands and both delayed the extension of their punch until their shoulders were fully turned over.
When you mention the overhand, what makes topuria so powerful when he punches or hits anything, is the fact that he is flowing and moving all the time, keeping and moving a lot of energy when he just moves, his movements all the time are like a dinamo, charging batteries all the time
This episode about Topuria was so useful Gabriel and I have implemented 3 out of 5 of the tips which you mentioned in this video Gabriel and another asset of that makes Topuria so good is his power and I will be sure to add the jab and overhand tips which you gave in this video Gabriel keep up the great content as always! 🎉
Note how you bring up his foot tracking and using a narrow stance. Petrosyan uses a slightly narrower stance too just to get out of the way of many moves. So it works both offensively and defensively
Illia will have problems in the clinch with his style, elbows and knees. Volk had success there. But man at that weight class he is so heavy handed and well rounded. It will take a special fighter to dethrone him!
Hi Gabriel, touching on the part where you mention shoulder rotation the TH-cam channel Russian school of boxing talks about that a lot and has very good boxing tips
Hey, I just had my first amateur boxing match and I lost by decision. Your video is still help me do better than I would have without them, but I've been watching the footage and learning from it and I noticed a lot of issues. The biggest issue I noticed is I got winded and tired way too quickly. So do you think it's focus on building stamina before the more technical aspects? Which as far as those go I was not relaxed enough in the ring but I was also not aggressive enough. I was looking down too much instead of at my opponent. I kept trying to go to the ropes to rest which didn't help. I wasn't using enough head movement. I wasn't throwing combinations. There was a lot of issues. Maybe I wasnt even ready for this fight. So do you think stamina is where I should start? Because I noticed I started out okay but as I got tired I just went to crap
@@sociallypatterneddefect9580 I think I'm going to start. I had plantar fasciitis so I was doing a lot of bicycling but I don't seem to be able to push myself on the bike and I really wasn't consistent. So yeah I think maybe I should start with some road work build up to be able to running 5K and then then start trying to run the 5K harder
@ACarpenter89 do hill sprints. It'll no joke triple your stamina and give you an insane athletic base. It's the amateurs so you're not fighting for too long. You need that type of endurance.
His power, movement, his underutilized wrestling and jiu jitsu skills and a lot of other things. The guy literally doesn't have significant weaknesses.
His stance seems very open to low kicks. Similarly to Petr Yan, who also is very boxing oriented. I wonder how he would handle them. BTW it is interesting that some of his matches, and even entire rounds, are basically just long range boxing. No kicks, no clinch, no takedown, no ground fight. I guess that this is going to be the finally adapted and minimalized style of MMA.
Petr Yan is a more blended fighter he doesn’t just rely on boxing so his attacks are a bit versatile and tricky. You can’t just chip away at him with low kicks and think he isn’t going retaliate with some crazy spinning shit or a flurry. And Topuria is bjj black belt and good wrestling so it wouldn’t have been any easier for volk on the ground either
@@Dmvgold1995I think you’re dead wrong. I say Ilia is the more versatile fighter, he’s been practicing judo and jujitsu since he was a little boy. His base is judo and Brazilian jujitsu, that’s what he excelled at first. His boxing came after which is shocking because he looks expert at boxing. Petr Yan is not comfortable with wrestling, he got frustrated by aljamain sterling and got dominated by Merab. Petr doesn’t have anywhere near the wrestling pedigree that Ilia has. Look at ilia vs Bryce Mitchell, look at Ilia vs Youssef Zalal, look at fifth round Josh Emmett, his wrestling is top notch. If he was getting bothered by leg kicks he would always be able to wrestle.
You’re trippen. I actually watch all of Gabriel’s vids and he never said anything negative about topuria. The only thing he said about that matchup was that he was going to pick volk to win like more than half of the mma community picked volk. I picked topuria to win but I saw him go under everyone’s radar for this fight.
@Greymatter-to3thvolk got knocked tf out bro no excuses. if he was better on the ground he should’ve shot for a takedown before he got knocked tf out. stop coping
I just want to ask a question. Since so many “UFC experts” on youtube predicting fights, reviewing fighters, how come ppl underestimated Topuria all along? And still so many talking shit? This experts missed the point that Topuria has been wrestling since 7yo in greko-roman and has been bjj black belt since his 20th bday. Boxing he mastered just in recent years. To me he is complete package of universal fighter that is and will be a nightmare for any one years to come. Biggest mistake ppl will make is same as they have been in the past. Underestimating him without knowing him.
Hi guys can anybody help me with a kickboxing training schedule (i don’t have equipment) I want to work out 2 time in a day every week but I don’t know how to create a schedule any tips are welcome

which boxers has he trained with
You forgot Topuria's awesome combinations when he gets in close and goes for the kill.
Great analysis mate
ILIA TOPURIA still improving, you are going to be surprised, trust me

One of the main reason I like watching Ilia is because of this combination of Danger + Calmness
When you mention the overhand, what makes topuria so powerful when he punches or hits anything, is the fact that he is flowing and moving all the time, keeping and moving a lot of energy when he just moves, his movements all the time are like a dinamo, charging batteries all the time
Ilia also has the best inside boxing in mma.
It was so obvious that as soon as he closes the distance he sleeps volk
Yup , i tought volk would wrestle him but he actually squared and payed the price@@Rok1900

Thank you for the videos
Iliya is turning out to be who everyone thought Conor was going to be.
Relax, it's his first big win. Mcgregor did it in 13 seconds, btw
@@joshmailovaJose Aldo gave him that win with a lousy overhand without a jab setup 😂 who does that?!?
Note how you bring up his foot tracking and using a narrow stance.

Great tip for the overhand. Thanks Gabriel!

Ong the worlds ganna copy his overhand u can really can see how much more guarded you are when done right
Again, Gabriel, thanks for your secrets!
I am so happy that TH-cam suggested your video, your channel is great! Can you please do a video on Tawanchai :)
Would love to see a breakdown of Brandon Royval.

You should spar a looooot more. If you do not feel confident in sparring how are you gonna feel confident in a amateur fight?
shout out the costco socks
we need an episode with Sean Strickland
We need one of Enriko Kehl 😁

Gotta do masaaki noiri next!!
A video on masaaki noiri, takeru or yoga yuki would be cool
Yuki yoza*

You should do a what makes Chingiz Allazov so good.

That's life for you bro
gotta change your opinion when the facts change. i give respect because a lot of people would’ve just said it was luck and he caught hum

His coaches make him do olympic boxing in another gym on top of his mma training. Thats why

Well we just need to see him go up against one of these elite grapplers like Islam , I would love to see him fight Islam that’s crazy
Is the overhand right like a 45° degree right hook?

Lets not get carried away - he's beat one person of note who just returned from a savage KO. It's way too early to make any kind of judgment
He isnt that great. Tilapia is overrated. Wont hold the belt long.
