It’s a shame that you didn’t start out as an MMA specialist...I’m certain you could’ve dominated at FW or even LW. Definitely too late now though...even with your amazing skillset. Stellar BJJ and grappling are essential nowadays. 🙏

I started training MMA the day after my 23rd birthday. I had my first cage fight 4 months later, then proceeded to have 2 more MMA bouts 2 months after that with the last 1 being for an amateur title. I’m a big fan, Gabriel. This channel has been a staple for my strength and conditioning routine.
I'm not a fighter, but I swam competitively through college and high school. Did my strength and conditioning with a lot of fighters (not a lot of places to train where I live), you guys are fucking animals.
It's crazy how non-alien it already seemed to him after only 10 weeks of training. Not many strikers even remember they can get taken down, letalone get up undamaged like that in their first MMA fights. TBF he most likely got lucky with that happening in round 1 with a fresh mind and not later, but it's still crazy stuff.
Congrats on your MMA debut Gabriel! I get how you feel. Though I never competed. I did MMA for about 2 years but did not love it. Also didn't help that I have a bad back and hip so any rigorous wrestling was always a pain. It was definitely fun and learning jujitsu was interesting. I stuck to kickboxing cause that's what I like best and found the most enjoyment.
Your a star. I followed your fight but I didn’t know the background until now. I didn’t realise you were such a BJJ and wrestling newb; that was super gutsy. Best of luck in the future man, you deserve it.
Congrats on the win champ, getting your hand raised while learning on the job really shows your skill and adaptability as a martial artist. Thanks for the great content
This is why this man is the reason to pay attention to his training philosophy, he was the first to be on sprinting instead of jogging endless, he was the first to throw in 400m etc into his training instead of useless joint damaging jogging. He training methods are very advanced.
Dagestan! Wow so cool to talk to you! How is life in Dagestan? The combat sports world respects Dagestan so much, you guys are on a different level of grappling. Good luck in your future 💪🏼👍🏼

Cus D' Amato says don't get hit, tuck everything up and in.. but really, there's no other way except get used to hits, your bones get denser & stronger, especially if you've healed a fracture. Can't avoid it, just like a mechanic can't avoid grease stains
I love this. I finally landed my first Pro MMA match last fall. You hit it dead on about bjj being sooo deep and needing a good amount of time in bjj alone before you enter a mma match...
What a privilege to see how an elite athlete learns something new. Pretty awesome to watch. You landed a few front kicks there! I've always wondered why teeps and muay thai clinches or knees weren't really adapted to mma. With the latter I think a lower body clinch with smaller gloves can limit your options but I just think teeps are underrated in general.
Beautiful fight, Gabriel. Congratulations! Your insight and analysis of the fight is extremely honest and interesting, as usual. I hope you'll have many more wins in this format in the future.
Wow! I’ve been searching for this fight for years! So glad you decided to cover it. Don’t be so hard on yourself champ! Awesome MMA debut! Striking translated so well. You can see the power behind your punches even more so!
The position at 6:19 If you got your arm under theirs around their backside with your other arm on theirs like that you could launch the opponent by positioning your hips perpendicular to theirs while bending at the knees and pulling their hips in tight just above yours, then driving off the ground with your legs while popping your hips forward a little bit. So from the position in that clip you just would pull their hips in completely to you while getting a little farther around so you're perpendicular and dropping at the knees a bit and pulling them tight to you with your arms then blastoff. You can toss them over your back to the side this way (not directly over you or they can land on you). The trick is to not try to use your back muscles but to use the legs and hips instead while just using upper body to hold them tight when their hips are perpendicular to yours. The way I learned this was grab the arm above the elbow and other hand on their hip same position u had there. Was one of my favorite throws when I did judo.
@@peterk2735 yeah its but the org encourages point fighters no kyokushin or Goju Ryu guys little to no full contact karate bc the real karate fighters would embarrass them

After watching this...I'd like to see you fight more in MMA, or the Karate Combat fights you mentioned, or any kind of bareknuckle contest. It's not about seeing you grappling - I'd just *love* to see you how you'd change your striking style with the smaller gloves and the threat of takedowns.
