@@HorrorFreak68 I disagree. LOL Studio recordings can use as many takes as they want for each singer or musician. They can get a flawless recording. Live recordings often have mistakes. Plus they can also use multiple tracks of the same singer or instrument in the studio to make is sound better.
@@my3dviews i hate flawless recordings. I want to hear the human element. Studio recordings completely lack the emotion that live performances have. I want to listen to a band that's playing to a large audience, not one who's playing to a studio director.
@@HorrorFreak68 It is subjective though. I do like studio recording. Not a fan of hearing audiences cheering over the music or singing along. I'd rather hear the band that I like without the added noise/sound. Like listening to Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon from the multichannel SACD. That's as close to perfection as it gets (in my opinion). Wouldn't be the same with a cheering crowd.
It's too "perfect". I don't understand how or why they would want to play such classic songs in their discography so close to the original studio versions. A song like Head over Heels is screaming for an interesting and extended piano solo, a (slap) bass solo, and a hard driving drum solo but the girls NEVER do this. It's their show, not some kid's bar mitzvah. They could take a whole lot more risk and semi reinvent these beloved songs but instead they play like they want the performance to be played on radio the next day by some approving DJ.
August 2023 and I keep watching this over and over. I'm an old rocker, grew up with the Beatles, Stones, Zep, etc. But these girls were/are amazing! Gina & Kathy..wow! Charlotte hittin those keys, little Jane rockin that SG and of course Belinda...yeah Belinda. DAMN!!!
Over the years from the 80's and 90's, few drummers had played this song but the sound so stiff and it doesn't sound better, but when Gina sat on the drums it sounds perfect and the way it supposed to be sound Gina is one of my all time favorite drummer....
different drummers had tour with Belinda when she became solo, it never sound right ,not as good as Gina the original drummer who played and hit the right note and timing of music especially her passion of playing the song. may I add not just the drum, ...,guitar, keyboard and bass
1980’s music is fantastic. This was totally the generation that I lived through. They still sound great and were pioneers when the bands back then were mostly male influenced.
Only after watching this twenty seven times did I notice 3:36 when Belinda gave the shout too early, the band kept playing like the professionals they are, Jane and Kathy looked over at her, she resumed the song, and nobody in the audience noticed the mistake. Perfect.
I think this may have been an under-appreciated tune in it's time. This was one of the great "energy" songs of it's era. As for the Go-Go's? They had "it" and I'm very happy for them they got the Call to the Hall!!
The most perfect pop song ever written. Such great musicians. I just love what a cool lead singer Belinda is. She doesn’t jump around and make anything cheesy. She just sings and moves so relaxed.
I've loved the Go Go's since day one. Say what you want. There is something very special and magical here. This song is so good. I literally had tears of joy.
i always liked the Go-Go's but I was never obsessed with them until recently. I think it was the Showtime documentary and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that gave me a new found appreciation for them. When you see what tremendous musicians, writers and performers they are, you realize that this band was something very special and was overlooked for a long time by many in the music industry.
The lady playing the piano is fabulous! That piano! I feel like the parrot, Iago dancing on Jafar's shoulder in the movie Aladdin. Can you imagine what she would do on a Grand Piano?
Wow!+! They crushed this!!! I thought it was a little too fast at first, but Gina kept pounding that backbeat (as she always does) and they just took off! Perfect harmonies. Damn. I love these chics!
So happy to see that they will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this fall. Well deserved. A true force/inspiration in the male dominated world of rock.
This was a cut from their third studio album, "TALK SHOW." The song was written by CHARLOTTE CAFFEY (guitarist/keyboardist) and KATHY VALENTINE (bassist). JANE WIEDLIN, the rhythm guitarist for the band, has named the track as her favourite GO-GO's song and compared it to a "little pop truffle of chocolate that's just utterly amazing." The first single off the album was, fittingly, "Head Over Heels." It peaked at number eleven in the United States and became a Go-Go's classic.
Go-Gos are one of the few groups that sound same or better live than in the studio. You know they paid with hard work and attention to detail for that level of ability. True musicians, a credit to their craft
They sound so good. If that's a total live concert with no recorded music they totally nailed it. They are so talented and entertaining. They look like they're having so much fun. And kudos to the person who did the soundcheck. Everything blended perfectly.
Yes, I like that what they play is what you hear. No overdubbed crap. They could have easily programmed in those claps that are in the recording, but they didn't.
For God's sakes, please put The Go-Go's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They have more gold and platinum records, more hits and a bigger fan following than most acts that are already in the Hall. Plus, they were the first real all-girl group. Come on Hall of Fame. Get it right.
Well the Hollies started in 1962 and weren't inducted into the Hall of Fame until 2010. Some things take time, but I agree there are some more recent inductees that should not have been inducted so soon.
I wen't to high school with Jane's brother. He played a cassette of the band when they were just getting started. Honestly, I didn't think much of it at the time. Now I think they're the greatest all female band of all time.

Kathy Valentine's bass playing is great, right in the pocket with every run!
So underrepresented! Plus she still is looking BA!!
She’s an amazing bass player and musician
I have no idea what that means but it sounds good
They always seem to avoid her in any live footage for some reason.
I remember seeing Kathy in Austin when she was first learning to play. She announced she was moving to LA to make it big and she sure did!
I always liked the keyboard work in this song. And the bass of course.
They don't show the piano player enough. I wonder if she is "camera shy". I dig the piano.
