Cindy and Kate’s voices go together so perfectly, and the sound is so unique. You could just hear them sing one note in harmony and know it’s them instantly. Best female pop voice duo ever.
i love their singing, too, but your claim that they are the best pop voice duo ever might get some blowback from fans of abba, with anni frid and agnetha.
I agree - can't think of a female pop duo better than these two. Subjective of course - but that's unavoidable. Best male duo - personally I'd go for Simon and Garfunkel (more folk than pop though...).
I did stagehand work years back and the b-52s were by far the kindest most appreciative band that I had the pleasure of working for. Post show they actually took the time to thank EVERYONE from sr staff to the labor works people. Awesome folks.
It wasn't until R.E.M. released Out of Time and the Shiny Happy People video was shown, that I looked for the female vocalist. That led me to The B52's of course and then I was introduced to Rock Lobster, Private Idaho, Love Shack and one of the greatest pop songs to come out of the 80's, Roam. What a brilliant, feel good track and Kate Pierson is looking resplendant in this ToTP showing. A mix of Belinda Carlisle and Peggy Bundy. Good times, great music.
I spent the 1980s on submarines. There was nothing better than coming home from patrol and hearing the latest 52's song. I'd crank the radio up and roll down the windows. My favorites were Roam & Love Shack
I believe this is the ONLY B 52's song where it's just the duo of Kate and Cindy singing. Everything else includes Fred or just one of the two ladies. This quite frankly is just an awesome song! The music is great.
It's also one of the few songs they didn't write. Either "Roam" or "Gimme back my man" would have to be my favorite cuts of theirs. I saw them live once at the Palladium in LA back about 1981 or so.
@@Mishn0 What's interesting is the B52's wrote the music and Cindy/Kate came up with the melody. So it was really a collaboration and they had a big imprint on it.
Totally agree with you. A fantastic band and those voices are so distinct, nothing like it during that time. Yes there were other good singers around at that time but their harmony was so different and so perfect together. I love the B52's!

Enigmatic as well. Kate's always been a free spirit and so were all the other band members -- comfortable in their own skin and didn't care what people thought. Libertarians at heart.
Just love this song. It's nostalgia but that does not detract from the quality of the song, the band, the two wonderful singers. I loved them then, I love them now.
One of the most unique vocal harmonies in music...seemingly at times they would sing at the edge of the their vocal ranges but always strong and clear and unwavering.
With you there. My problem with them begins with "Love" and ends with "Shack". Hateful song that every wedding/party disco or covers band in the UK insists has to be played. THIS should replace it.....

Fun, well written comment. My path to Kate was slightly different. B52s, not knowing of her, just her voice, then to R.E M , then back to B52s.
