One caveat is that I’ve seen an Amazon review stating that it set off the carbon minoxide alarm in a kitchen, when the pot was tested. They stated they tried with a standard pot to compare and the alarm didn’t go off. They said they don’t think it’s good idea to use it in a vestibule, for example. Copied the full Amazon review below, hope it’s helpful: FireMaple make great camping kit and on the face of it, the above pot looked excellent and worth buying due to the promise of reduced boiling times due to the heat exchanger. I was using this pot in the kitchen testing boil times with the window cracked open. Within a minute both my carbon monoxide devices went off, reporting high levels of carbon monoxide. I used the Soto Windmaster and went on to see what happened with both the Firemaple and MSR Pocket Rocket burners. It happened with all of them - the Soto Windmaster set off the alarm the fastest, presumable due to the wide, tall nature of the burner. I repeated the test with a different gas canister in case the gas mix made a difference. There was no change to the outcome. I presume the cause is the gas exchange design on the pot is somehow preventing efficient gas combustion in some burners. To double check I used my Jetboil Mini-Mo in the same position - no issues, alarm remained at 0. I tried all 3 burners again using flat bottomed titanium pots to contain the water. No issues. I tried again using the FireMaple 600 ML G3 pot and Firemaple burner and once again the alarm went off. Please be very, very careful if you are using this pot anywhere other than in the open outdoors.
@that_which_is_not seems odd that the pot would cause that however bearing in mind you're using it for around 1 to 2 minutes it wouldn't cause you any harm and either way should be used either outdoors or in a vented vestibule so wouldn't cause an issue. I used this pot indoors to test it against another stove and my Co2 alarm never went off so maybe he was just too close to it or it was overly sensitive. Many hundreds of people have bought and used this pot with no other reported issues.
Also, the plastic does the same. Making the lid stick on, this is a safety feature. May not have been intended, but it does make pouring boiling water on one's self more difficult.
With my A Level physics head on, perhaps it is the plastic lid expanding into the pot which is causing the tight fit rather than the pot contracting? However, the physics exam was 35 years ago and I only got a grade E! There are a lot of great alternatives to Jetboil stoves out there for a fraction of the price. I picked up the OEX Heiro a few months ago for forty quid and I really can't see what a Jetboil does better, but I've never used one so pehaps it massages my aching feet whilst boiling water for my cuppa!
🤣 yeah didn't think about the plastic expanding. You may be right, school wasn't my thing in general let alone physics. And if I remember rightly the Jetboil gives you a full shiatsu massage after each hike. 👍 worth the extra I'd say.
Firemaple blitzing TH-cam with this pot. I have one, it’s good apart from the tight lid syndrome. Works very well with a SOTO Windmaster fitted with a triflex pot holder.
I took the lid off my 750T & the handle and are using them with the Fire Maple. Still trying stoves to get a good staple fit. What I would like is to take the heat exchanger off the Fire Maple and install on the 750T.
You might find it doesn't work due to the differing metals. Sometimes it can get too hot with certain metals hence all of these finned bottoms seem to be on aly.
I have the pot, sent for another BRS 3000 in order to bend the pot support part of the arms, to set them RADIALLY (from TANGENTIALLY) works a treat, after twerking the fins clear of the base slots. This Fire Maple pot fits on Svea 123r nicely too. Could not resist a Wild Sea Camping stove that had a Tri Flex clipon pot stand, ala Soto WindMaster. There is a BRS 61 Jet Boil £16.69 inc of tax AliExpress, Great, quiet, pretty neat, very fast (although no hurry). Seems to be the same burner as the Primus Lite XL, but no screw in pot supports (will make my own) for alternative non heat exchange pots. Well worth buying. Thanks for sharing
Pocket Rocket 2 will just about fit. It’s slightly out of alignment but will squeeze on. Fits my Svea 123R perfectly though and reduces boil times by 30%. That’s a 30% fuel saving each time I do a brew. 👍
Cheers buddy. In what way, with a titanium pot for example? I don't have the pocket rocket to pit it against but if you check this video and go to about 8:20 he does compare the soto windmaster th-cam.com/video/gY5AnfF2PDI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8a7LBs1NSjHBtxaI
Excellent! So now i have to buy yet another pot to see if it will fit together with my optimus crux burner :), the best is that the pack will be a little bit lighter. Thanks for a great review
I have a fire maple x3 with the stove "integrated". It's perfect for booking water. It's light enough, boils extremely fast and very efficiently (if you put the flame to medium-low).
Cheers alan. I couldn't get any other gas at the time. Seems hard to find others. I normally get cheap stuff from the range but they've stopped selling it for some reason 🙄😂
Hello I'm in market for a new stove. Which one out of fire maple brand would you recommend as well as Polaris. I heard good things about buzz and hornet. Regards Michael
@michaelnicholson1817 I haven't tried the others to be honest and depends on what weather etc your using it in. I've o ly heard good things about all the stoves tbh
Hi, after watching you with the Petrel I wanted to get one but I have the BRS 3000 stove which as you know is an issue. Well you might want to take a look at a vid I've made, check it out at Camping Guru UK. Cheers, Gary.
Firemaple are making great value H/Ex pots and cook systems more generally. Anodised aluminium is not to be underestimated, I find mine far superior to titanium pots for heat conduction/dissipation. Good quality gear at an affordable price - what’s not to like? 👍🏻🏴🥃
@coachhannah2403 in all honesty their gear is as good if not better than the more we'll known brands. They also think outside the box like this pot. Simple change that makes a massive difference. I have a lot of their gear and only one piece I felt was below par.
@@NoviceWildCamper - Yeah, but all of a sudden comes all these product videos (not just yours)... I like watching gear videos, even though I bought most of the stuff I'll need for the rest of my life (spending a bunch of the money I saved over my first 40 years when I pinched pennies). I'm more into fabricating gear enhancements, then improving/correcting them once out in the field! Always looking for new ideas!

@@NoviceWildCamperagreed! It seemed a very detailed review/critique, for an issue I’d never heard of before
Metal does expand when heated. It expands in 3 dimensions. Therefore, the inside diameter becomes smaller while the outside diameter becomes larger.
Also, the plastic does the same. Making the lid stick on, this is a safety feature. May not have been intended, but it does make pouring boiling water on one's self more difficult.
Don't think of it that way 👍
Finally. I review that actually talks about the stoves. Thank you. You've just received another subscriber
Been looking at this pot for a minute, and trying to see which stoves will work. You've made this very easy for the beginner like me
@thisisntgood71 cheers buddy 👍
Have you tried with the pocket rocket? To know if it fits.
@brunoanzanellostifelman8443 no not personally. If the arms align directly with the centre of the stove then it will fit.
Thats incredible. I tested the polaris tonight in wind with a titanium pot. 3.40 it took!
It's a decent stove for sure 👌

Nice Pot, indeed. I have to admit, i have 4 stoves from FireMaple. Not that i needed all😆, just couldn't resist 🤫
They are good though 😂

Fjallraven skogso
Thanks a lot man!! I needed to confirm compatibility, I will place my order i AliExpress now 😂
Thanks. Not using my link? Must be cheaper with my discount?

@HardyBunster it's a really decent design isn't it 👌
I swear by firemaple gear for cooking. It honestly is the best budget cooker I’ve ever used
It is some decent gear 👍
Awesome review! 😀
It would be nice to see a review for the stove itself, see how it compares to a msr pocket rocket deluxe or soto windmaster!
Cheers buddy. In what way, with a titanium pot for example? I don't have the pocket rocket to pit it against but if you check this video and go to about 8:20 he does compare the soto windmaster

It's a great pot. It fits well on my Jetboil MightyMo. Now my go to cooking setup.
Perfect stove for it 👌👍
Good review mate. Just need to build an extension on my garage so I can fit another stove in😅
🤣 I know the feeling
Absolutely love the pot but for the stove I'd go for Soto Windmaster with Trifex.

Getting it.. I have the Polaris
It's an awesome pot. Use the link and get that discount 👌🤣
Doesn't look like the low price was an issue - Wearing Fjallraven kit- 🤣
What's that got to do with a cook set?
😮
Great stove clever design all you need for a fast boil
Exactly. Nothing to melt at the bottom either 🤣
And available in the uk from #outdoorgearessentials 🤙
Yeah yeah yeah I'll find him dandy. BUT IT'S STILL NOT WHAT I WANT.
I want only the bottom so I can attach it to a pot of My choice.
Why
Looks a good system not that im in the market as im happy with mine as it is but a good option
I loved my set up the first time round but the stove was a pain to fit in and being 1l was overkill so this is perfect 👌
