You can ally the mamluks pretty easily with religious diplomats and a diplo rep advisor. Then if you wait for the ottomans to declare a war in the west, call in the mamluks by promising land, and rush the straits you can win a war early on quite easily. Ouch that spiralled down quickly. Been really enjoying the series, so much you got me back into playing eu4 after many years. Working on an Ethiopia run at the moment. So thank you.
I just had an England game where Austria got itself the vassalize all HRE members before the reformation war happened while being allied to Spain. This lead to a game were my only saving grace was that I snatched most of France, North America, and the Ivory coast, but it ended up not mattering as Austria kicked me out of France once the holy war fired. At no point did it feel like I was able to do anything to stop what was happening by the time I saw what was coming. All of that said, you really needed to break England and Scotland before going colonial. Once you got to Ireland they were the only two who would have cared to stop you.
Imagine being a soldier in Candar and your Sultan just sends you on a boat to some place called Ireland to die in a war against some kingdom you've never heard of
This inspired me to attempt this exact same run. Pain so much pain. First I noticed that I and my Ally the Mamluks outnumbered the Ottomans so I attacked. The Mamelukes insisted on splitting their armies into 5k stacks that get stack wiped constantly and commit Seppuku but I get out of the war relatively unscathed by giving away the Mamaluke's land. I no CB Byz seeing that they have no Allies and that the Ottomans only took Constantinople. This goes well and my allies wreck Genoa as well so I expand greatly. Ottomans have allied every one east of me so expanding through the middle east is off the table. I use the Byz land to flip to Orthodox. I no CB Ireland and build a powerbase there. Ottomans attack me again and I am forced to leave my home region. I then colonized Bermuda in the hopes of building myself back up from Mexican gold. I realize no one in the universe wants to ally me except Uzbek and Hisn Kayfa. I get attacked by England who forces me to give up all of Ireland. My capital is now Bermuda the Turkish, Orthodox center of the world. I start attacking the Mayan minors but they have built forts everywhere and sieging them takes years. I go bankrupt 4 times eating up the Mayan lands. At that point I had enough and quit
Honestly, things could have gone even worse. :)) You gave me a great ideea about how to start my candar campaign. But i might try to be faster in conquering the whole ireland and i might change capital to Bermuda without the need of losing most provinces in Ireland. Also, i think you kinda overextended in Mexico with the conquest, probably way too fast.
Sometimes I like to think about history books in the future if this stuff really happened. Like, would it be like "In 1444 some random nation in Anatolia decided to kill some random nation in Ireland and establish a massive suger empire in the New world"
Candar is actually pronounced Jandar, so does it *really* qualify to be in Season C? Either way, they're continuing the Turkish tradition of migrating west!
I mean, once you move to Ireland rush to admin tech 5 and then put everything in diplo. Settle 10 dev provinces in the Caribbean and from there it should be a piece of cake. After switching catholic try nabbing an alliance with England rivals. Conquering further into Ireland is just a waste of time. You can use the same strat for Trebizond if you want. Apart from focusing on the Venezuela region, your second mistake was moving to the Mexico region too early.
Yeah, ideally you'd want to stay Sunni and try to ally Morocco so that you can use them to neuter Portugal early, for anyone curious for other potential strategy options.
