As a police chief I would be extremely humiliated if my officers acted this way. There were at least 9 cops at the scene over a photographer on public property. ZERO of the 9 had no idea of the law nor did they act in a courteous manner. It's time for new leadership.

7 cars finally arrived. The female officer said he need to keep moving or your loitering by blocking the sidewalk. Then most of them gather to block the sidewalk so you can’t walk thru. Hypocrites.
Guy why cursed said he was called to investigate a “crime” , but could never articulate what crime he was supposed to be investigating. Then calls you a “major asshole” for exercising your rights and not providing your ID which your not legally required at that point to do anyway. Whose the real “major asshole” in this scenario?

I think probably the worst part, though, is that that cop left the day with the belief that the only reason you were OK to stay there filming is because the base personnel said so and "called him off". The way they worded their answer, he only got "We don't have a problem with you being here", and NOT "it's legal and the constitutional right of any citizen".
He was told to stay on the sidewalk but walk around. He was told he could speak to 2 sergeants but don't walk up to them. Jeez Louise these cops were confused.

In fact, videoing from the sidewalk is legal under Federal law, also, including all buildings and military bases. So he had that wrong, too. They just make it up to suit their dominance.

I'm not trying to start shit, just having a conversation. I'm ALL for the entire Constitution, Bill of Rights, particularly the first amendment. I'm aware that the first amendment basically says that anything you can see from public property, you can film. Except concerning certain areas of military installations that are top secret under the rules for national security. This guy is filming outside of a military base. It just seems like that with him doing that, he's all but giving them a reason to mess with him and ANY ONE of these encounters can go REALLY wrong. It just seems like a crazy risk to me. The guy's brave. Crazy too. He's just lucky it was just regular cops and not MPs. Military police have GIANT egos and they just love fucking with civilians. Would YOU be able to do what this guy does, and INTENTIONALLY mess with cops?
