And a few days ago, it was found out [SPOILERS FOR 3x22] ...that Clary was found at the Brooklyn Academy of Arts, displaying her new art (and hairstyle) to people
Am I the only one who conjured up someone completely different when reading the books only to be disappointed in the movie🤔 Its not like the actor was bad looking or anything. It’s just that he didn’t fit the role.
@@makimaistrash lol I like malec but I just wanna say that not everyone watched this becuz of malec lol, don't try to debate with me, it's the truth, just bcuz clave doesn't have time to develop their relationship doesn't mean it is bad
Other shows: sooo, here we have our three ships and this one lonely person right there. Shadowhunters: soooooooo, this is our Clary-Jace-Isabelle-Simon-Raphael-Maia-love Hexagon, oooh, and this is Malec.
Shadowhunters: The only show in which you can ship anyone with everyone. Except Magnus and Alec. Ship them with anyone else and you will feel the burning wrath of the fandom.
So, I've only ever read the books, and they are like my favorite books. This really doesn't do them justice. Here are all the inconsistencies with the books that I caught: 1. That is not how steles work. You have to hold it like it's an extension of your arm and draw out the runes. 2. Clary actually first sees Jac inside of Pandemonium, when she watches him follow a boy into a storage closet holding a knife. Then, she follows him and sees him, Alec and Isabelle kill the boy. 3.At the start of City of Bones, Clary is less than a week away from her 16th birthday. She never applied for art school. 4. Luke is not a police officer. He owns a bookshop. 5. Luke didn't admit his feelings for Jocelyn until City of Glass. 6. Werewolves can't control dogs. Where did that even come from? 7. There is no Dot, only elderly Madame Dorthea who lives downstairs from Clary. 8. The first scene with Clary, Jocelyn, Luke and Simon is actually an arguement between Clary and her mom that ends with Clary storming out of her house. 9.Shadowhunters cannot use modern technology. It interferes with the angelic runes. Idris only has one phone, and the only demon tracking equipment they have are sensors, which are powered by runes. 10. Clary never drew runes until after she was introduced to the shadow world. 11. The demon was in the form of a teenage boy, and they had sent Izzy to seduce him. 12. there was no fight. the demon was quickly beheaded. 13. Clary didn't kill the eidlon demon. 14. Seraph blades need to be named to use, so Clary picking one up wouldn't have done anything. 15. Jocelyn never told her that she was a shadowhunter. Clary had to spend most of the first book figuring that out. 16. Before Clary got home, her mother had been kidnapped by a demon. 17. Clary discovers the portal a lot later with Jace, after she was taken to the institute, and the portal was in Madame Dorthea's appartment. 18. The portal actually took her to Luke's house. 19. Jace runed her before they went to the institute. 20. When she woke up, only Isabelle was there.
Honestly I was OBSESSED with this series then after a while I was like wait what because of the books because i couldn't keep up with this mess i did research and then i was like tf why but if it was what the author wanted i can respect that
Look there are so many inconsistencies within the TV show. It took me like 3 different attempts to start watching it, but I ended up watching it and tried my hardest to judge it as its own adaptation/separate from the books. BUT Oh, BOY is it so much better then the movie! the movie is terrible. From what I remember mixes the first 3 books together (even though the movie is called City of Bones) and has so many massive plot holes.
@@geminithetwins It was originally a harry potter fan fic, sooooo. (the author wrote a fan fic (Draco/Ginny) and it got popular and from what I understand she just created new characters, but kept the overall plot the same) I found this fact out the other day and honestly I just wanted to tell someone.
True that BC then it would have been Clary this and Clary that BC that's what the books were about thee books are great if it was just the TV show I wouldn't have known the show

as someone who hasn't read the book and has no bias whatsoever, i don't think it was that bad. best parts were definitely malec and the soundtrack though. ruelle is amazing
Believe me the books are not that great either.Claey is obsessed with Jace in the books .There relationship is really toxic and codependent. Also the author wrote Alec as a brooding teenage boy .I liked this version of Alec much more.
@@areebarashid8584 I'll have to disagree with you on this. I personally liked the books. Alec is actually my favorite character! I like Clary too, although I do agree that her relationship with Jace could have been better. 😊
@@areebarashid8584 TF??? The books are fantastic! Yeah, their relationship was toxic, but these were the ideas of the author and just let her write as she pleases!
@@troubadourvilever6097 You are entitled to your opinion ofcourse. But the entire incest plotline ruined it for me.For first two books its all about Clary and jace and their forbidden relationship(which is not forbidden but they whinged about it for the entire 2nd book).Last three books have Clary's biological brother lusting after her.I would have liked the books more if Cassandra had gone easy on sibling incest trope.Alec and magnus were the highlight for me.Both had acknowledges flaws and had great development throughout the series.Even their relationship issues were beautifully resolved.
The thing that annoys me most about teen dramas is when they randomly use music that has one word relevance to the scene. THEY DON’T EVEN EDIT THE SCENE TO THE MUSIC IT HURTS.
Omg yes!, I never finished season one because I cannot take anymore cringe fest fron that girl that plays Clary. I just search for the Malec storyline cuts instead.
Life is hard for a shadowhunter. Every day is a struggle for survival against otherworldly horrors in defense of those who cannot even see their protectors or know the thankless task they perform to keep them safe from a world they can never understand. And yet, they all have time to do hair and makeup.
Even in the book they always look good especially Isabelle. Clary does say that even after a fight Izzy’s hair still looks perfect and stuff so I guess it’s just their angel blood
To everyone telling him to read the books first. That's one of the problems with these teen shows that he should point out more often; you shouldn't have to read the books first. If the writers were any good at storytelling and using the television format to portray a story well, then the books aren't necessary to understand the plot.
Plaine Zaine but the thing is I really don’t suggest reading the books cause they are chock full of unneeded incest and biphobia and honestly you don’t really have to read the books to understand the show’s plot. The show does a half decent job with making sure its audience understands the plot
I have read the books and re-read them a number of times which means that i absolutely loved TMI however I also enjoyed the show and the fact that it wasn't an exact replica of the books. Idk maybe people just have different experiences with it and enjoy different things
Nah I read the books after finding the show (watched it til 3x10 in 4 days) and there are so many things that don't add up in the books either or are just plain problematic. The show fixed a lot of those problems and even opened a completely new fandom that caused Cassie to write an entire new series based of Malec because they became the most popular part of the show
I read the book and... oh my god. This is completely different from the book besides the names and the shadow hunter thing, like Dot doesn’t even exist, like, gosh
Dot is supposed to be madam Dorothea but I think the show runners wanted her to appeal to younger audiences more so they aged her down like 50 years and made her clary’s friend.
Ehh it honestly gets better. The first few eps are pretty cringey and the show has a lot flaws, but it's still enjoyable if you don't take it too seriously. The acting improves in the later seasons and the budget gets better as well. The show has also done a great job with malec. I am so happy.
yeah i agree. it still has cringy moments but third season is soo much better and more enjoyable compared to the first one. the acting is better, writing was also improved. it's good
As a writer, I understand your pain. It’s always the worst thing when a book you put so much into turns out exactly the same as another series/ movie 😂
I love how he’s saying that it’s only up to Clary to save the world Me: no, but it’s up to her to create problems that result in the world/worlds ending
"I think we all know her real superpower is running in heels on a roof and not breaking her ankle." This is actually true, that is an ability only Izzy possesses.
Monster Fruitloop especially the girl who plays Clary. I feel sorry for her because she can't act her way out of a paper bag. And her fight scenes are funny. I wish you could see my nephew's impersonation of her fighting scenes. It's hilarious. They look so fake.
NyDeviant if u can't even be bothered to spell her name right, then u dont have enough brain power to understand a show that isn't a load of shit, clearly.
Lisa Young Katherine McNamara is awesome. How about you try having to apply fake tattoos and fighting? Oh, you probably can't because you are one of the moronic twats who still uses expressions like 'act her way out of a paper bag'. Well done being an idiot, bitch.
Thats soo true! I hated the show, everyone is so stiff and weirdly perfect. The books are childish but the general mood in them is so nice! Like : Ohhh yea we're five kids living alone in a church with our teacher/librarian. And Clary's like 15 and edgy and super short and ungraceful and with like, red (book)hermione hair
As someone who read the books, And watched the show i have to say that i enjoyed the show. It was obviously different then the books, but i still enjoyed it. The first season wasn't the best, but it did get better. I liked the show more then the movie.
As someone who also read the books I beg to differ, the casting in the tv series (except alec and bane) was far from how the characters were supposed to look and be, jace was described as a sarcastic, rude yet somehow caring character that should’ve looked like a lion, beautiful gold long hair and godly features I BELIEVE JAMIE CAMPBELL was all that. He embodied the character effortlessly. As for LILY COLLINS she had amazing chemistry with JAMIE and WAS AGAIN EFFORTLESSLY FIT THE CHARACTER AND LOOKS OF CLARY innocent but brave and her character grows. Their chemistry was powerful. A lot of people preferred the movie, i think the only advantage the series had was that it had SEASONS, EPISODES, HOURS more time than THE MOVIE which only had 2HOURS to fit a 500 paged book, so ofcourse the series explained whatever their story line or flow went, better. but if the movie got continued maybe they’d see the beauty in it too because I firmly believe the movie was closer to the book , the series was a little far from the books?? The main point of making a whole series of books into a movie or tv show is for it to BE EXACTLY WHAT THE BOOK IS not creating a whole other storyline or flow, whats the point of it being named the title of the book then? Right?
ByunsBae Bi i agree with you soooo much!!! I loved jamie as jace! And the movie is pretty accurate with the books. The series i hated it. I love kate as clary physically but her attitude and persona did not match clary at all. In the series they made clary so arrogant and so different, sometimes it didn’t even seem she liked jace, she looked more in love with simon and i hated that.
Rule 1: If you like the books try not to watch the film/remake series of it cause it’s usually not the same as your expections. Also I did’nt read the book but loved the series so it’s really dependent on what your expectations are.
lele... what? I think you don't understand what he's saying, or how and why specific shots are filmed to tell a story, if you think you just explained why they shot that scene lol
I just love how in nearly EVERY show/movie made from "young adult novels", they ALWAYS have perfect hair. As if nobody would have a bad hair day, but this is not what young teens want to see
Season 1 was a bit cringy but it was passable as a show. The second and Third season were great and honestly made the show enter a realm of transcending most teen supernatural dramas.
I agree with this SO MUCH. I'm a huge fan of the books so I was pretty disappointed at first because the first season was... well, to be completely honest, I think the first 3 episodes are pretty much unwatchable. Everything was so cringy and forced and just plain BAD. But it upsets me how so many people cling on to that when the show got so much better as it went on. It distanced itself from the books to create a different yet similar story, being entertaining without telling us the same things we already knew from the books. By the second season I was 10000% on board with it and I'm still sad it got cancelled haha. Anyways, this whole rant was just to say that I wish more people appreciated how much better it got, instead of focusing on the disaster that was the first half of the first season.
Thank God it gets better. I just started it and the acting in the first few episodes was so bad and cringe i was literally about to give up on the entire thing.
Everyone is arguing about which is better ; the books or the show And then there’s me Who watched the show Watched the movie (AND I LOVED IT OK ?!) Read the books *and find them all amazing* 🥺
I personally like the show and the movie but like the movie a little bit more. I just wish THEY MADE MORE MOVIES. Anyway, should I read the books? I don’t like reading because I usually have a hard time understanding what’s going. But idk
@@itsnina6616 yessss they should’ve made more !!! Well, it’s hard to say because i don’t know you, but i think you should at least try them. But you’re telling me that you usually have a hard time understanding what’s going on so you’re probably gonna be completely lost because they are soooo complicated 😂
@@itsnina6616 I think you should read them. They are sooo good. They are not written in any complex way, but a lot happens in them. If you can keep up with what is happening in the plot, you should be fine. They aren’t very difficult reads and the books just get better and better with every series. The books put the show and the movies to shame.
But Jane the Virgin is a comedy series, it has its cheesy moments but it's supposed to have. Also, Jane the Virgin is all about latin culture so... Unless he's latino I don't think that's a good idea cause he might not get it, and in order to love or hate it, you first have to understand where are they coming from.
don't watch Shadowhunters for the plot or Jace and Clary being absolute idiots, watch it for Magnus and Alec being the best and healthiest couple ever *EDIT:* yes i have read the books and yes malec basically maintained my interest because the rest of it was just "this might be incest LOL IT'S NOT INCEST actually here's the real incest" to the background music of the world ending
Nope. The show ruins them. They just met and all of a sudden Magnus is crashing Alec's wedding? No. It's completely out of character for Magnus, and they barely knew each other at that point. Malec develops over like three books, and in the show they just threw them together because they knew that Malec was a beloved ship and they needed views cuz the show was shit.
Effy Cook what are you talking about? how can the show ruin them when, from what i've heard, in the book they're a token background gay relationship? lol.
The TV is super corny tbh... I loved the books, but the show is really fast paced and changing a lot of stuff. I’m only watching for Magnus(Malec) and Simon right now. But it’s funny cause even in the books I couldn’t stand Clary or Jace, but the side characters were amazing! Not to mention I’m kind of upset with how they portray Valentine in this show, I’ve always imagined him as this super suave guy with white hair but to each their own x’D
NixStellaNova _ internal devices were really good. I think I've read all the shadowhunter books, but I can't remember if the 2nd book in the new series came out last December or comes out this december
He clearly hasn't seen the whole thing about how Clary and Jace have a thing for each other and then are supposed brother and sister and then that repeats for like a whole season
I do. Just because normal American teenagers talk like their brain has been boiled, people in TV shows and movies not necessarily have to talk in the same dumb way.
The people in the books it is based on do. Trust me, compared to that the show is pure gold. I was impressed they managed to get this "good". They even made the dumb story work better and tone down the creepy and asshole factor of Jace and Magnus.
The only truth about Shadowhunters is that the first season (especially first episode) is like, really bad. It gets better with each episode tho. After like fifth ep it is actually good. Not perfect or mindblowing, but good. Season two (especially 2b) is WAY better than other 23 episodes. The show has a big potential if it will be like season 2b. Guess we will see in March...
Sima Ivanová I don’t think you could say it gets better with each episode, the show is very inconsistent and tends to dip up and down a lot, but I do agree that 2b definitely improved a lot from season 1
The Mortal Instruments were kind of my favorite books for a while and I was so disappointed by the movie, so I didn't watch the show on purpose because I guessed it would be shit. So I've seen the first scenes out of it in this video and wow, I was so right. They totally ruined it.
Karolina Pucek you have no idea. The first episode isn’t even the worst one, I highly recommend watching emmmabooks reviews of the episodes as theyre funny to laugh at how wrong the show gets things
I want a TV show based on a character who comes across something supernatural, then spends like the first season just avoiding it as much as possible. Like, the main character just spends her/his time looking things up, learning things, for the simple reason of _avoiding_ it, not joining the supernatural world or anything.
Why would you want that? Man, that would be hella boring and unrealistic. I want a character that says HELL FUCKING YEAH and just starts killing people and doing the devil's work. That would be awesome. I'm sick of these heroes who are unrealistically selfless.
@@ambrosia_fragments I watched the first and second season but I stopped there. I got annoyed with most of the characters and the plot was all over the place.
I read the books years before this show came out and I got really excited about this show. But then I watched it... and it was SO WRONG it’s all in the wrong order and they add in stupid plot lines that don’t even exist in the source material
Georgina H they have to do that or they’ll get copyright infringement. Cassandra Clare didn’t give them full rights to the books. They’re giving the side characters from the book more showtime which is honestly great. They’re making the story into what they think it should be. If you’re basing your review on this episode alone, yeah we all can agree it was shit, but the show and characters have developed since then.
Lmao I'm dying. They took every character and scenario from the books and dumbed them down. It's a Freeform show so I didn't expect it to be good but D A M N. The showrunners were on something. The author of the books actually throws shade at the tv show all the time and it's kind of hilarious; she gave an interview talking about how she wrote the book for 16-19 year olds and didn't realize the show was going to be made for like, 10-14 year olds who like Batman and how she had to argue for them not to turn the LGBT characters straight...the amount of shade she threw was savage. The tech and computers are the cringiest part lol; the swords they're using are seraph blades, blessed with the names of angels, one of the only things that can kill demons, and in the novels the magic they use ensures no technology works around them. For some reason in the show they took this out and gave them computers because, idk, gotta appeal to them there teens right? The Shadowhunter Chronicles are epics that span hundreds of years, and this show is just....not good lmao. Glad the author says she learned her lesson and won't be selling the adaptation rights to her other books. Edit: I say this all as a huge fan of the books and author. The original trilogy will always have a big place in my heart because I read it at 14 just after coming out and Alec and Magnus basically saved my life, but God, Cassandra Clare is cursed to never get a decent adaptation. I'd love to see an anime series based on the books, something like Kyoukai No Kanata...
John-Michael Crljen no, the books are amazing. Maybe the first books arent as great as the others but they are worth reading. The show is just so freaking bad so i hope you'll like the books because they are just so good. It gets better and better with each book :D just dont watch the show
"You can see me" Does it even fucking matter if she can see you? You just bumped into her! If playing Spy in TF2 has taught me anything it's that you're basically dead at that point
He was making a joke, in games like tf2 with invisibility it doesn't matter if no one can see you if you bump into someone because then they know that you're there anyway
sladikk Jace had a glamour. Meaning no one except Nephilims and high powered downworlders could see him. Being that he has never seen Clary before, of course this would be a shock that she could see him. And her reaction also wouldve made Jace give his reaction giving that she said “can you watch where your going” meaning that she had no clue who he was. So he was obligated to say “you can see me?”.
I am a fan of this show, but i absolutely cannot stand Clace. I tend to skip their scenes together and whats keeping me to watch is Alec, Magnus and Malec
I actually really liked the books, years ago when I read it. The show was terrible. Also, when I began to learn about tropes, how to write, and how to make good characters, I realized how it really is just like every other YA fantasy novel.
@@ghaidhadi2237 They first meet in 1×04 if I'm not wrong, and there are precious (iconic) moments throughout the series. I would definitely recommend watching the whole show, but if you've made up your mind not to, then I'm sure you can find Malec scenes on TH-cam itself.
I read the books and for me watching this show it’s absolutely impossible! The series has nothing to do with the books apart from the characters (even if they changed some of the most important) And they even changed the plot! The only right thing is Alec, the only character who is quite similar to the one described in the book
i actually was a pretty big fan of the books (i was like 9 when i read them, don't judge me) and I've tried to watch the show but I just can't. it's so cringey and it has nothing to do with the books. i was so mad when i saw what they did ti Hodge. he was such a cool character (imo) and they completely changed and ruined him
also it was easier to understand everything in the books. in the show it's like: oh! look! here we have this and this and there is that and that. we're not gonna explain anything so you're gonna be confused and can't follow the show properly! have fun! :)
Giulia Petrucci When has a TV show followed exactly the plot of its respective book series? The purpose of a book to movie adaptation isn't to copy every element in the story. It's to give the audience watching an interesting taking on the story while sticking to the general overview of that series. Not only do they want to give an interesting take on something that exists, but they also want to entertain existing book readers who already know what's going to happen. If a show followed word for word, then there's nothing suspenseful of that show for fans. Might I mention that once an author sells the rights to their books to a production company, that production company has the right to interpret that story in any way they seem fit.
Lust Apparently so, the stories were taken down from FanFiction dot net (and she was banned) because they included quite a bit of plagiarism from several different authors. She then reworked the stories, eliminated all the controversial phrases, swapped things around, and the Mortal Instruments was born
Differences about the show and book: Luke works as a librarian, Jocelyn isn’t supposed to die, Max is supposed to die, the institute isn’t modern like in the show, Sebastian’s true from isn’t all messed up like in the show, Alec and Magnus only break up once and they don’t have arguments or anything as much as they do in the show, Maureen is 13 years old, she dies and becomes a vampire, Raphael looks like 15 and he and Izzy are NEVER a thing. And those are just a few of them
I really enjoyed reading the books but the tv show is kind of cringe. I mean, the actors are, with a few exceptions, great, but Clary is the most annoying character I've ever seen (and I watched many, many shows). Like most of the people (I guess so) I watch it because of Malec because they are so freaking cute 😍
In pretty much all shows, the principal character is the annoying one, who makes stupid decisions and stuff. For exemple in the vampire diaries I hated Elena omg she was so annoying, and here in shadowhunters, clary is ok sometimes but I agree with you
Well that's just fucking stupid, if a show is bad it's bad. I shouldn't have to Wade through all the shit just because of Malec. I'll just go read the books. At least they have kids at this point.
Even though the Jase in the movie look like he's been smoking weed since... Idk like forever, he's a way better Jase that this one. Also. Lilly Collins! Do I have to say anything more?

20. When she woke up, only Isabelle was there.

the movie is terrible. From what I remember mixes the first 3 books together (even though the movie is called City of Bones) and has so many massive plot holes.
@@geminithetwins It was originally a harry potter fan fic, sooooo. (the author wrote a fan fic (Draco/Ginny) and it got popular and from what I understand she just created new characters, but kept the overall plot the same)

Agreed! The books deserved better, but I love the show as more of a spin-off than a direct adaptation
This isn't a teen drama lmfao

I started watching the show because I saw malec in a video about queer rep in tv shows. I did enjoy the show and I started reading the books too
Aoife Kavanagh one of my literal favorite book series! It amazes me how the how changed so much from the book, but they are each still crazy good
Y'all which books does malec happen in? I'm not a big fan of Clary so,,,
Omg yes!, I never finished season one because I cannot take anymore cringe fest fron that girl that plays Clary.

Clary s hair is always too much...

I know. I read the books and then started watching the show and I actually had to check to see if I had started the correct show
Dot exists but she's the elderly psychic living in the apartment below
Dot is supposed to be madam Dorothea but I think the show runners wanted her to appeal to younger audiences more so they aged her down like 50 years and made her clary’s friend.
Ehh it honestly gets better. The first few eps are pretty cringey and the show has a lot flaws, but it's still enjoyable if you don't take it too seriously. The acting improves in the later seasons and the budget gets better as well.
The show has also done a great job with malec. I am so happy.
Bane Lightwood true
yep
Yes. I love Malec. Main reason I am still watching and the writers are ruining them. If all the memories gets erased I am gonna die.
yeah i agree. it still has cringy moments but third season is soo much better and more enjoyable compared to the first one. the acting is better, writing was also improved. it's good

I was writing a book with a half angel that hunts demons in a shadow world. I saw the trailer for city of bones and cried for a week.
Ouch, I would be devastated if there was already a book like mine... I feel for you :'(
As a writer, I understand your pain. It’s always the worst thing when a book you put so much into turns out exactly the same as another series/ movie 😂
I love how he’s saying that it’s only up to Clary to save the world
Me: no, but it’s up to her to create problems that result in the world/worlds ending
"I think we all know her real superpower is running in heels on a roof and not breaking her ankle." This is actually true, that is an ability only Izzy possesses.
The acting in this show legit makes me want to slam my face into a wall.
Monster Fruitloop, I seriously thought I was the only one that thought that
Monster Fruitloop especially the girl who plays Clary. I feel sorry for her because she can't act her way out of a paper bag. And her fight scenes are funny. I wish you could see my nephew's impersonation of her fighting scenes. It's hilarious. They look so fake.

Lisa Young Katherine McNamara is awesome. How about you try having to apply fake tattoos and fighting? Oh, you probably can't because you are one of the moronic twats who still uses expressions like 'act her way out of a paper bag'. Well done being an idiot, bitch.
As someone who has read the books I can say with confidence that the show is nothing like the books

Thats soo true! I hated the show, everyone is so stiff and weirdly perfect. The books are childish but the general mood in them is so nice!
Right?
Sameee
Yo is malec in the books
James Conley of courseeeee go read ittt!!
As a person who read the books, my reaction to the whole shows was like " WTF?!😡"
It's not supposed to be like that! They ruined my fantasies 😢
I too was disappointed from most things in the series, however I still enjoyed the show even with the differences from the books.
Rule 1: If you like the books try not to watch the film/remake series of it cause it’s usually not the same as your expections. Also I did’nt read the book but loved the series so it’s really dependent on what your expectations are.

I just love how in nearly EVERY show/movie made from "young adult novels", they ALWAYS have perfect hair. As if nobody would have a bad hair day, but this is not what young teens want to see
yeah well about the tech.... They're supposed to live in like, a victorian church. The show made the tech up
Season 1 was a bit cringy but it was passable as a show.
Im currently about to watch the 3rd episode but I came here first for encouragement to continue 🤦🏽♀️

Red Snowflake YESSSSSSSSSSSSS I LIVE FOR THEM

I want a TV show based on a character who comes across something supernatural, then spends like the first season just avoiding it as much as possible.
Like, the main character just spends her/his time looking things up, learning things, for the simple reason of _avoiding_ it, not joining the supernatural world or anything.
Articwolf4123 so like how TVD started out
Why would you want that? Man, that would be hella boring and unrealistic. I want a character that says HELL FUCKING YEAH and just starts killing people and doing the devil's work. That would be awesome. I'm sick of these heroes who are unrealistically selfless.

Georgina H there were also a lot of problems with the books that really shouldn't be displayed on TV and the show has fixed some of those problems

@@Lena-zn4re so true

"You can see me"
Does it even fucking matter if she can see you? You just bumped into her! If playing Spy in TF2 has taught me anything it's that you're basically dead at that point
That was actually a thing in the book, Jace had an invisibility rune and Clary being a Shadowhunter too can see him so it surprised him.
He was making a joke, in games like tf2 with invisibility it doesn't matter if no one can see you if you bump into someone because then they know that you're there anyway
gemhelmet Explaining a joke never is a good idea.
ojigbo eat a duck, wad-man
sladikk Jace had a glamour.
The books are so much better
I am a fan of this show, but i absolutely cannot stand Clace. I tend to skip their scenes together and whats keeping me to watch is Alec, Magnus and Malec
candes//Dosnt everyone😂
candes CLACE IS THE BEST!!!!! #CLACEFOREVER💜💜💜
STOP SKIPPING THEIR SCENES! U need therapy, go on Netflix and watch Claces first time!!! -The doctor
@@helenagabrielsen3117 i might disagree hahahha
Did u mean Clary if u did I agree
6:26 : sees girl crying in creepy room with creepy music in the background
Ad: PAMPERS
I can sure say ‘the books are certainly better’ on this one, even the film was better.
Emmareadsalot I don't know, the movie was horrible, it would be near impossible to top it
The film sucked compared to the series, you're joking right?
omg so true
I feel like all these teen dramas are the same story with different titles...
Billy K tbh
They pretty much are.
Billy K
Similar plots
Your feeling would be right
The book is good... just a horrible adaptation...
I love this show and I will stay with it for ever but I am now referring to Alec, Izzy and Jace as "Hoodlums who apparently work for the avengers"
Rosa Davies Ahahahahah
Alexander Lightwood did not fight his love for Magnus Bane for you to insult his freakishly perfect hair, dude.
I actually really liked the books, years ago when I read it. The show was terrible. Also, when I began to learn about tropes, how to write, and how to make good characters, I realized how it really is just like every other YA fantasy novel.
Random Commenter I kinda think the books after the third one was getting kind of boring. The show is REALLY good.
Random Commenter your terrible yourself buddy 😉
Please do Gossip Girl.

Magnus: Who dares insult my Alexander!?
IKR
Hey when does this ship start? I'm here for it but i don't like the show so i wanna skip
@@Ivy254 oh i thought it's in the next seasons. Alright I think I'm gonna wait for it 😂❤
@@ghaidhadi2237 well... I watched Shadowhunters just for Malec. They are just beautiful!
Malec is just the heart of the show everything else is also amazing and cool but I just love Malec and the actors are super funny!
I read the books and for me watching this show it’s absolutely impossible!
The series has nothing to do with the books apart from the characters (even if they changed some of the most important)
And they even changed the plot!
The only right thing is Alec, the only character who is quite similar to the one described in the book
i actually was a pretty big fan of the books (i was like 9 when i read them, don't judge me) and I've tried to watch the show but I just can't. it's so cringey and it has nothing to do with the books.
i was so mad when i saw what they did ti Hodge. he was such a cool character (imo) and they completely changed and ruined him
also it was easier to understand everything in the books. in the show it's like: oh! look! here we have this and this and there is that and that. we're not gonna explain anything so you're gonna be confused and can't follow the show properly! have fun! :)
@@chimmybacon1964 First season is awful compared to the second and third. The writing and the acting improves dramatically.
Yeah I actually really enjoyed the books, but just from the commercials knew I'd never like the show.
it makes it funnier when you remember that this show was adapted from books which were also adapted from harry potter fanfiction
Chloe For real?!
Lust Apparently so, the stories were taken down from FanFiction dot net (and she was banned) because they included quite a bit of plagiarism from several different authors.
She then reworked the stories, eliminated all the controversial phrases, swapped things around, and the Mortal Instruments was born
Chloe Wait didn't they do a movie called Mortal instruments?
Chloe 50 Shades of Grey was Twilight Fan Fiction
Lust yes..
The movie failed, so they decided to make a show instead.
Differences about the show and book:
Luke works as a librarian, Jocelyn isn’t supposed to die, Max is supposed to die, the institute isn’t modern like in the show, Sebastian’s true from isn’t all messed up like in the show, Alec and Magnus only break up once and they don’t have arguments or anything as much as they do in the show, Maureen is 13 years old, she dies and becomes a vampire, Raphael looks like 15 and he and Izzy are NEVER a thing. And those are just a few of them
i know right, they have made the books look rubbish
Anime Cake also Valentine isn't 70 years old and has hair
Anime Cake and Luke is white
actually i believe that luke is coloured in the books, or at least not caucasian
Hafsa83 I guess you could be right. They never specified his skin color
I think the show is good as a stand alone show and that people would like it better if they stopped compering the show to the books
Alena Montgomery I had to stop watching because I could not get over Jocelyn’s death. She’s so important in the story!
THANK YOU. I love the books, but the show is SOOOO BAD.
I like the show now season 2 was a lot better but yeah Clary's pretty annoying
Alena Montgomery I totally completely 100% agree
In pretty much all shows, the principal character is the annoying one, who makes stupid decisions and stuff. For exemple in the vampire diaries I hated Elena omg she was so annoying, and here in shadowhunters, clary is ok sometimes but I agree with you
All the questions you have are answered in the books, I think you need to read the books to fully appreciate The mortal instruments.
NightcoreVortex
No you are right, you should be able to understand everything by only watching the series
Hey, ya don't get to criticise shadowhunters if you didn't even stay long enough for malec
Joely David thank you so much like omfg 🤨
Well that's just fucking stupid, if a show is bad it's bad. I shouldn't have to Wade through all the shit just because of Malec.
I'll just go read the books. At least they have kids at this point.
Amelle Kyre the guy watched one episode, that's nothing
Yep!
Hey I like gay ships like the next guy but everything around malec and will Tudor being hot in the second season kind of sux
3:06 his superpower is just making really good old spice commercials🤣🤣
OKAY I UNDERSTAND THIS AND NO HATE BUT I FRICKIN LOVE THIS SHOW
KanaThe Werewolf same it’s my favorite 😍😭🤩
KanaThe Werewolf SAME I CANT LIVE WITHOUT IT THE BOOKS, THE MOVIE, THE SHOW, AND THE CAST ARE MY FAVOURITE THINGS IN THE WORLD!
KanaThe Werewolf you must’ve never read the books because it’s not even close to the book 😂
KanaThe Werewolf ME TOO
Saaaaame
The books make so so much more sense...
The lightwoods are the only reason I've watched this show.
Even though the Jase in the movie look like he's been smoking weed since... Idk like forever, he's a way better Jase that this one. Also. Lilly Collins! Do I have to say anything more?
