When I found this place my heart skipped a bit and I felt like the mystery began to unravel. This is a more difficult way. From the top follow the rope and drop onto the platform. No need to roll.
Theres a much easier way to get to this door. When you first enter the pit stop and turn left. Aim for the 2 ropes and fall. Then from that platform fall left again. No rolling needed and fall damage is based in a percentage of health so you dont have to worry about dying unless you miss the platforms.

That first drop killed me many times. What helped was immediately holding the joystick the opposite direction as soon as I walked off the edge. That helped me "catch" the board that lets you walk back under the entrance to safely land on the platform.

This skip's the first drop as well as the platform you have to roll over, i have 20 vitality and survived both drops from full health. Thank's for the guide, would've gone straight past this otherwise.
The Umbilical Cord gives you 3 insight I think, but there are several in the game, somewhat hidden, and are REQUIRED for the true ending. You must eat all before the final boss.

This bone is freaking awesome. Cost 6qs bullets per use but it's like the invisible rolling ring from ds2 crown of iron king but u are also much faster in rolling

You missed the doorway in the elevator. If you walk while the elecator is in movement you Will see That there is a hole That you can get out of the elevetor before it stops

Dude you can just walk a little bit further when you enter the tower, then turn around and roll down to a small island just above the door, nothing difficult with dying and jumping and rolling on your route.

I feel like this is a matter of luck. I've died five times in a row doing this in my new game plus playthrough. I did it in my first playthrough, though.

"Father" Gascoigne not cuz he is a priest but he is a father if you would have read that the description of the Tiny Music box what you got from the little girl you could stagger him in the beast stage. These are consumable items just read them please!

You can continue going down in the right side of the door, then you go all down the hole, and find a beast warding another door, the secret village (i don't know the name in english). They killed me after the door and i appeared in a prison instead of the lamp... i think not much people knows this site, so i think its interesting ^^
Ok i got information. This jail is from Yahar'Gul, i don't know how i appeared in Yahar'gul (yeah they killed me and i got into the jail... but i dont see the relation). If you continue by this door you can take an elevator and fall down into the big door in Cathedral district that its closed. You can open it and then you are free to run the zone that it was supposed to be closed by the hunter chief emblem!!
You should've said we would die a BUNCH of times attempting this. I've died 10 or 15 times trying to get this secret workshop.It wouldn't be so bad if we didn't have those murderous load times in between deaths. I'm starting to think (IS IT REALLY WORTH IT)!!!!!!
Sorry but the point at which you're jumping down from is far too difficult/ risky. The best way is to get to the centre of the bridge, turn back facing the ropes and roll onto the mid platform. Much less reliant on luck/ dodgy jump skills.
PSA noone listen to this to get to the big door, you will fall and die attempting to make it to that second ledge. Instead, begin walking across the long beam that runs across the entire tower. Turn back around to face the door when on the planks. To the right is a bunch of ropes hanging. Roll to the ropes from there and you will land on the second platform. Then just jump down to the door. Thousand times easier
The enemy you fight is a hunter that turned into a beast kill it and you get a beast rune the hunter was sitting in front of an unlocked door to the grand cathedral
***** That looks like the Charred Hunter chest, you get it by dropping down next to where we find the enemy Hunter in Old Yharnam to the top of another building. (Not the hunter with the machinegun.)

By the time I went there, i was severely overleveled from trudging through higher-level areas and leveling up, even having upgraded my gear the hard way from killing snakes. You have to kill the Blood-Starved Beast boss at thr end of Old Yharnam. After that, just reload the game and it will be open.
