Doing this job now. Nissan part number for the seal is B2131-01M00. Honda has a very similar part, but is intended for a shaft that rotates in the opposite direction. This was about $15. Nissan does not list it for this car, for some reason. Anyway, it may be because it is misrepresented on the factory part diagrams.
I have a ka24de and the shaft diameter is 14mm is it the 12.45mm shaft seal I need to order? So guess I am asking what diameter is the shaft on the models that the part number listed fits please :-)
@@grahamh6444, The actual shaft diameter on the GA16DE is 12.4, with the inside diameter of the seal being slightly less than that. Sounds like two different parts.
@@sternwheeler thanks I will order a 22x14x6 seal then :-) my bearing is 2mm bigger as well. I can read the part number on the old seal it is a NOK brand AHO 514H N 2.3 but cannot find that anywhere :-(
Many thanks for this Brian. I replaced mine after watching your video. It took me the better part of 10 hours to remove and re-insert that push pin. Broke a pin punch in the process...better that than the gear though. One thing I'd like to mention is that the gear appears to be keyed because its two "teeth" are off center. Its probably designed like that to ensure the rotor is aligned properly with the camshaft to maintain proper timing. Make sure you place a little mark on the both the gear and the shaft so that it will be easy to reassemble. It would pretty frustrating if you have to remove and re-insert that pin a second time. BTW, I got an original NISSAN replacement oil seal. The number on the package was: B2131 - 01M00. My distributor is off of a 1997 sentra. Cheers.
Thank you! I'm having to do that to mine now. I got no spark,no start condition. Saw oil coming outta the distributor and figured oil got in there and created the no start condition! Waiting on parts now to undertake the same fix! Wish me luck!!
Appreciate you taking the time to put this together. Most people would have just took it to a mechanic to get it replaced, and spent $250 for the part on top of whatever labor it would be. So kudos to you for even trying to do it yourself, on top of also trying to salvage the distributor. You didn't end up with the best possible outcome, but you're also no where near the worst. Plus you are giving a good many others an opportunity to learn from you.
You don't have to take that pin out and it is a pain to do so. You just drive the entire shaft out by tapping on it from the other side using a soft hammer so you don't damage the shaft.
Hey, thanks for the time you spent to help others....i have a 98 altima and it's leaking oil as well...been like that for 2 years lol...time to get to it and do it....thanx a bunch. !
Use a motorcycle chain breaker to get that pin out. Props to the person who mentioned it in the comments already. I was looking at a hopeless situation. I had a vice that was doing nothing, and I was about to bend the vice arm. Anyway, Harbor Freight has it for about $17 full price (get discounts or coupons) and it worked first time in about 10 seconds. Just line it up, and use a long 17mm socket. I used a 3/8 ratchet that is probably 8-9" long. Turned against the handle and held the back side down with my hand and body weight. Less that 10s later I heard a loud "crack" and it had broken free. No helper required. The clearance was a little tight between the edge of the chain breaker cup and the piece adjacent to the cam toothed part once the disty pin was lined up with the punch pin on the disty for my 1994 standard Celica, so that could be an issue with the Harbor Freight tool. Just take your distributor to the store with you and make sure it fits.
I like how you know how to save money on parts and never once said anything about going to the junkyard. I would just go get 2 distributors from my local scrap yard and make one good one.... but you just kept saying car quest the dealer. right on. you know your stuff!!!!
Is it possible to press the shaft in opposite direction to just to remove the bearing then the oil seal in order to avoid the removal of stiff pin. It's very hard to remove to remove the hard pressed pin.
I have an 8pin distributor for an SR20. I bought a used one but it sparks and now doesn't work. I opened it and saw a transistor and resistor but no capacitor. Is it supposed to have one?
😂😂😂 great video man!!!! lol don't stress about that "black guy" comment. only people to get offended shouldn't be watching this video. this is for car guys only!!!! you definitely know your stuff. I'm dealing with a 99 sentra I'm leaking oil behind the distributor idk if it's the valve cover, cam seal. or the piece you had issues with.
Hi Brian, Thanks for the video about the sentra distributor leaking seal. Im wondering if you still have that damage distributor. Jajaaja Thanks to you video I replaced the seal but I notice that the cap rubber gasket its in bad shape. Im needing this part and It cant be find anywhere. So I apolgise for aking but you never know...
local bearing shop had a 22 / 12 /7 seal close as i could find to a 22 / 12.5 /6 but it should work if i can manage to push the shaft threw the bearing with 3 jaw puller in the opposite direction away from shaft shoulder bearing retainer bearings dnt like being hit with hammers from the inner race im not planning on removing the drive gear but ill let u know how i go tomorrow
very nice the part that conects to the camshaft also got broken in mine how did you fixed it? a friend welded it with super alloy it never failed again but im wondering what is the correct procedure to remove it without broking it greetings
I noticed oil around the distribuotr.I opened up the cap and saw there was oil inside the distributor as well. I took the dizzy apart with hopes of replacing just the seal and avoiding replacing the entire dizzy. I had nothing to lose.
That's good that you posted the video but the way you did it is wrong I have the same broblem and the oil seal is in the back you take the bolts out of the engine side and you have to marked the distributor because of you don't the car will get out of timing then that would be a pain and it's in the back of the distributor fyi I'm a mechanic
I have a 99 Almera with the same GA16DE engine and what looks like the same dizzy ( has a seven pin connector ). I'm also seeing a little oil when I take off the dizzy cap, plus I'm getting a camshaft position sensor error from the ecu with occasional stalls, intermittent low rpms at idle and occasional rpm bouncing at idle. There was a screw missing from the dizzy cap such that it was partially open and putting a screw in improved things a bit, but I'm wondering 1) if the CSPS can be taken apart and cleaned cause maybe dust got on the optical pick-up and 2) how much do I really need to care if that internal seal is leaking a bit of oil? I'm in Israel and the NIssan dealship here said they don't carry that dizzy anymore and it would cost $1000 to order from overseas. They don't even carry the dizzy cap.
Yep, got 98 Almera with CSPS problems, bought a 2nd hand distributor for it and both units have some oil leak. Seems to be a common issue. By the way, you can still find distributors and parts by searching eBay with parts numbers - although note that Almera got a different distributor for 98-00 models!
The OEM part number for the internal shaft oil seal is B2131-01M00. It's dimensions are 12.45x22x6L. You may need to replace the external o-ring that seals from the camshaft to dizy, it's number is 22131-0M200.
+MrLlanas You will need to use a timing light and time it. There are plenty of videos on how to do this and it is easy. Honestly there is very little adjustment and it would be hard to get it far off.
$250 for a new distributor to solve seal replacement issue in USA ?? in Pakistan this job can be done for 10 dollars including the cost of the seals :P My nissan sunny distributor seal or O ring is leak .. i might post a video soon when i will have it fixed :)
Mike get reman Cardone for $55. Nissan run for another 24 years. Mike almost 100 by then. "Work hard all my lifetime / No help from my friends / Lord won't you buy me / a Mercedes Benz." (Covered by Janis Joplin)
This is how NOT to do this... The shaft is pushed from the inside!! there was no need to break your distributor. The seal?... well that one you push it out from the Bottom, NOT from the top. You should first get a service manual and you just could have save $$$$$.
I dont know the names so bare with me please. How did you get the thing that holds the lil disk out? I can't loosin the screw in the middle of that rod thing? Please help.

thanks for your time. question??????????????? sentra runs great, but runs to long and gets to hot ,dies out then has trouble starting
more then likely you have a warped head and it wont hold compression when hot
what is the function of steal round diafram that runs through plastic cavity
like seeing people that know what thy are doing on these mission 2.4 motors....
What was it doing that prompted you to get into the distributor?

when replacing the disturbitor,do i have to do the timing ?

Replace bearing also....?
No. Just ended up replacing the distributor.
Очень грусно, что произошла поломка ,надеюсь я не сломаю нечего при замене
