I love your open honesty about aging. The world tries to hide it and stuff it away or only talk about the good golden years stuff. Thank you for being so brave and sharing the realities of learning to adjust how you can. I bless you.
Pam you and Jim are so fun loving, inspirational, and a pleasure to watch. You are such a "real" person with your sense of humor and common sense. Thanks to both of you for the wonderful things you share with us, your viewers.
If you can turn the Bluetti on it's side it will be much less likely to tip over. Also there are fold up ramps that would make it easier to get the carts up and down the stairs. I bought some when my mother lived with us. It made getting her in and out of the house much easier
More than once, I’ve wished I could rig some kind of ramp up the 24 stairs to my 3rd floor condo! It’s even crossed my mind to figure out a pulley system from my balcony to the ground! 🥴
I just turned 77 and know the feeling about not being able to do what I used to with ease. My brain says I can and my body says fat chance. I have found many ways to help with things and you sure are doing well along that way too!
Made me tear up about your making a pact with each other. My husband died 7 years ago of ALS, he was only 64 years old, I was 59. It's been a challenge doing everything myself. Am currently nursing a sprained neck from hoisting something that was too heavy over a fence. Love your sense of humor!
A lesson I’m trying to learn in, “Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.” Especially in terms of lifting heavy things. Hugs and high fives to you and Jim.
That’s becoming my mantra as well 🥴. It still doesn’t feel right to ask for help when it’s only a meager 10 lbs bag. But my body lets me know that I should have asked for help. I’m only 61, but I had a major car accident in 1982 - my body has not been the same
I Loved watching this video!.. Jim is such a good sport. You two are just awesome together. I wished I could give this video a dozen likes. God bless you both.❤️❤️
What an encouragement you are to us. Aging doesn't have to mean giving up the things you enjoy, maybe just going at them a little differently. You two looked like a couple of spry kiddos playing, I loved it!!!
Thanks for doing this video. We don't hear enough people talking about the realities of aging in a positive way. Any tips and recommendations for tools that will help us all stay active and continue to do the things we want to as we age are always welcome!
I have the mighty max cart and love it. I use it for my gardening chores. Carries multiple bags of soil, compost or fertilizer. Even when I go bulk shopping I bring it to the car and load it up rolls right up my front step into the house. Since my husband passed 3 years ago it has really gotten a workout!
Greetings from Mesa, Arizona! I absolutely love watching you and Jim! I am a 61 year old wife, mother of 5, grandmother of 16, and am still working full time. I spend almost every weekend watching grandchildren's sporting games, giving piano lessons, canning up, dehydrating, or freeze drying the food sales that I find at the stores that week. As a result, I am pooped most of the time! You two give me hope and inspiritation that I CAN keep working and preparing, and have fun while doing it. Thank you so much for sharing your valuable knowledge and skills in helping us all prepare for the inevitable. You two are marvelous and I look forward to each week of new videos! (I am almost finished watching all of your older videos and want to start all over again because the information is invaluable.)
I discovered that trips from Costco required some smart transporting from the car to the house. I buy way to much in bulk but it’s smart buying. Lol. We purchased a collapsible wagon cart with All Terrain wheels. You pay more to have the wider heavier wheels but so worth if you need to pull it loaded across a grassy, sloped, bumpy yard! I preferred the “wagon cart” since I was moving items of various sizes and when folded had a small footprint that fit my available storage.
Aging is an exciting time to my husband and I. WORK SMARTER NOT HARDER. Protect joints and skeletal system in body that do not have the same joint fluid they used to.
I 'discovered' you and Jim through your awesome canning videos and now, I just love watching ALL your videos - even if it's a subject that doesn't really apply to me. You both are such an inspiration. We're both newly retired and the biggest discovery so far is "use it or lose it" - mind AND body. It's beautiful to see you both so active and learning to adjust - I know exactly what you mean. Your videos are so educational, your info is so trustworthy and your water bath canning class taught me so much. We went a bit crazy with our first 'retirement garden' this past summer and I've been canning up a storm - all done your way! Thank you so very much! Stay active!
First off you are some of the youngest 70+ year olds. I expect you will still be doing this channel 10 years from now. We have purchased many items you have suggested. Thanks for doing our homework ☺️.
You are not alone, I have found myself having to do things different to get the job done. When there is a will there is a way!!!! A little board ramp would make things a lot easier to wheel in and out. Keep having fun. Oh yea this is great to know in case someone falls and hurts them self get them on the cart and get to a vehicle or tent or trailer.
Absolutely brilliant! We need more of this sort of content to destigmatise getting older and show how to live well into older age. You guys are an inspiration!
I’ve lived in a 3rd-floor condo for 29 years, and the best thing I’ve found for toting heavy groceries, etc. up and down those stairs is called a Climb Cart, in case anyone else has this requirement. The wheels actually climb up and down the stairs, rather than just bumping along. It’s been a godsend, especially as I get older (74 currently). Any brand will probably do; just make sure it meets the requirement of “stair climbing.” I’ve had others that don’t - world of difference.
Thanks Rose, you and Jim are such an inspiration. I'm 20 years behind you guys and you remind of many fine role models that have guided me through the years.
I bought a fold-up 'kids' cart this summer and I use it to unload my groceries from my truck into it and drag them all at once into my house. Our house was designed weirdly, the kitchen is on the opposite side of the house from the garage. A cart is a real help. It folds up about 9" square and about 2 feet tall. It has wheels that go OK in the house without damaging floors. We also have a Gorilla Cart that I got at a garage sale for outside use, it holds up to 600 pounds and the sides can easily come off to make it a flat bed. It has a mesh floor but I bought a canvas liner to make it solid for hauling dirt. I have a small crate-style cart with wheels to haul my sewing machine and serger around the house on or to friends' houses. I'm a Senior citizen too and carts are my new friend. I love both your channels.
I'm just now 65, I bought a 2-wheel mover cart years ago to help with yard work. The about a year ago I bought 1 of those folding canvas carts, it has helped quite a bit also. Then I found a small fold up cart at Aldi recently, for just in the house. You guys are awesome to be as active as you are.
Isn't it wonderful to find a simple solution to a problem you didn't recognize you had. I now stop and think about doing things that might sap my strength and what I can do to ease it a bit. You moved that heavy weight like a dream. Thanks for the tips!
Well done!! As I age and my health declines I have adopted the motto of "work smarter, not harder"! No sense throwing out my back or some other injury just to "bull through" like I did in my youth. Absolutely nothing wrong with using everything at your disposal to make a task easier or go more smoothly, in my opinion. 😉 I bought a mid-size, foldable trolley/hand truck several years ago and it's one of the most used tools in my house. Perfect for wheeling heavy bags of cat liter, a stack of boxes, cases of canned goods, etc., from one end of the house to the other on my main floor. I really like that smaller cart you showed and think it would work well to move things around in my basement storage area. Thanks for showing them to us! (hope Jim had fun during his cart ride😄)
I so needed this video. Not because I have a blue eddy or a cart but because I’m a first born older woman and am struggling with not being able to do what I once could. You have inspired me to not give up. Thanks ♥️♥️♥️
N NEVER give up! There’s always a better way…or an easier way…keeping one’s eyes open to all possibilities is key! Cheers ….from an eighty three year old…who learns more every day.
I moved to an apartment a year ago. I had a condo, with my unit on the 3rd floor in a building with no elevators. I lived there for 15 years. I sold that. Now I live in an apartment complex with elevators. I was never able to use a cart at my condo so it was carry everything up. I now have a cart. I love my cart. It makes life a dream.
I laughed and was smiling while watching you pulling your husband around on the cart. It was fun and loved it. It nice to see this side of you and how your handling your aging so gracefully. It was very informative and gave me new ideas on how to handle my own aging. Keep it going! Beware that you both do not look or act like your in your late 70’s. I appreciate your knowledge and research you do in your videos but this was nice to see this fun side of you both. Keep sharing your great ideas.
🥰🥰🥰🥰 Love how you and Jim work together you both don't look 70 you keep me going love watching you thank you for your teaching god bless stay safe we need good teacher''s
We have an extra large wagon that we used with the kids 20 years ago. Now we bring groceries up the ramp and right into the house. What a good deal you have made with each other. And what a real test. Love it.
Lay some boards on the dirt and stand them against each other when you're done wheeling over them. And use a board for a ramp so you don't bang the Bluetti. Who knows what happens when it's banged down on the cement. And if you pile sand bags under the ramp, it will give it support so the ramp doesn't crack.
I love you guys!!! Even though this was about the carts it equally showed your love for each other. Love your philosophy on growing older with grace…and I’m 75 so know about that too. .. and I must admit I am not so graceful about it!
😄Tell us the truth Jim, you *really* wanted to ride that cart😉. Thank you again for such useful information. I could use something like this to move pots into the house for the Winter and out in the Spring.
I hope you both realize how precious you are to the RoseRed family/community. I came for canning and keep learning so much more. From the bottom of my heart, thank you both so much for all you do and the continuing education you provide for us. Cheers!
This is the best video I have seen in a long time! I loved the explanations. Your attention to detail is so appreciated by me! The highlight of course was seeing you pull Jim around in the cart! Made me want to buy one to pull my husband around in! I have been trying to talk him into letting me take him for a spin in my beloved wheelbarrow but he has yet to go for that idea!
Pam and Jim, you’re both such good teachers, and hearts! I learned today more about myself (another first born here); about the wisdom of realistically assessing abilities and tools (well, everything); and adapting to changes (in the same age group too…). Thank You for your gleeful, joy-filled, generous, practical, honest, loving and FUN presence. 🙏
You two are darling! I remain in complete awe of you both. Alpha male and Alpha female sounds like a perfect boxing match tee hee hee. Your independence is showing all the time and it's fantastic. To use technology is outstanding. I remember typing and now my typewriter is in the upstairs bedroom closet. We have this handy dandy portable computer, phone, research, camera, we hold in our hands. No more lugging the typewriter when traveling...I can even print from this handy dandy to my printer 🙂. The two of you accomplish so much in one video Alone. You run rings around many of your contemporaries. I do remember pulling and being pulled by my buddies as a munchkin in our little red wagon it was fun to watch you pulling Sir Jim. Keeping active it is key 🙂 I do hope you get your proper rest! 😘
Thank you Pam/Red Rose. My husband and I are now in our mid and late 70s. Long story short, I'm the younger and most able bodied. Just recently severely sprained my leg, knee and ankle, and I'm now in recovery mode. I can't believe how limited a severe sprain is. So, I saw this video today. Thank you. I need a cart and would suggest everyone consider one. Things happen we never see coming. Thank you very much.
I'm the second child but with the first born tendencies..lol..I basically have to do most things by myself on our 10 acre farm..my gorilla cart and hand truck are my go to back savers to be sure...I really enjoyed your lesson
RoseRed Homestead, ...You recently uploaded your video on Crisco Candles. It was informative, thank you. So, I ordered the exact candles. When they arrived, I was reading the box they came in and it said: "Made in Ukraine." I was moved... Being in Los Angles during these times felt surreal. I pray for all the innocent people who are affected, on both sides. Just wanted to share.
What a great video Pam. When we retired three years ago. I started to realize I couldn’t pick up and carry things as I use too. James had a harder time admitting it, but he came around. We now have taking steps to make our lives easier. Love the carts and love that Jim is such a good guy. Thank you 🇨🇦🌷
We agree! That is what we have found out. There is no point is struggling to make 8-9 trips to the car and back when we can us a cart and make it 2-3. Jim
@@RoseRedHomestead I meant to say….I still use deep honey supers on my hives. But now I just removed frame by frame til it’s light enough to move it…or get James to help me lift it off. So I can totally relate to what you said. Hahaah
I like this video, it tickled me to see you using your hubby for a test subject. I do this with my hubby also, he too is usually a good sport about these things. It is good that you enjoy each other's company. I understand your comment about older siblings being leaders. I too am always looking for ways to work smarter not harder. Keep up the good work.
Pam and Jim, thank you both so much for all you do. Especially your candor and humor about aging, and your common sense methods for dealing with whatever life hands you. Enjoy your December vacation and visiting your children. I hope to view you and your videos in January.
I'm 60 and my husband is 66. I'm pretty sure this year was our last year with keeping bees. I have to wear the protective bee jacket and as soon as I put the veil up in the summer I get over heated. Our summers are getting hotter. After inspecting two hives and adding or taking boxes off and whatever else needs done depending on the time of the year, I'm worn out and starting to get sick and dragging to get through the other 2. I even use a deep and a shallow for the body and shallows for the supers. I can lift the shallows until they are full and the top ones. Plus with work, 2 acres to care for and 2 huge gardens, I was the one that had to decide I could no longer do right by the bees. It didn't help that 3 of my mentors passed in the last 2 years. I find the fact that the 2 of you were keeping bees and raising Queens and inseminating them into your 70's wonderful. I know you had more than 4 hives like me. Plus we now have my mother with us to help watch out for. Getting older and trying to do it gracefully is a challenge. Don't be afraid to show us any other things that help. We have a red wagon and a hand cart to move things around and we've even used the wheelbarrow. I'm even thinking of rigging up a glide to pull things on. Flat thick plastic with shallow lip around it with rope attached to each side at the front for pulling across the ground.
My parents were both firstborn children and my dad was an only child. So funny both were leaders and very directed. Thanks for sharing your moving solar-powered generator. You are awesome for not aging without a fight. You're very young and agile.
Pam and Jim, I have fallen in love with you and your channels. I wanted to share a thought, a small ramp the width of the largest cart coming out of the door would be even more convenient for you.
Pam, we are with you and Jim on planning and adapting to aging, pledging to work together. Your carts are a terrific idea. I even have very light laundry carts with thin light wheels that work smashingly. Hooray for you guys! Still love your show. In Relief Society you are quoted frequently. God Bless, Jill
I love that y'all noticed a problem and found the perfect solution. I'm right there with you (turning 70 in a couple of days) and have noticed that, despite having restrictions regarding lifting for about 10 years, doing other things (or rather not doing) have come into play. Sitting and standing for extended periods of time are no longer possible, so I've had to make adjustments "Do what you have to do when you can do it" is how I look at things. Did Jim return the favor and give you a ride around the yard? Looks like fun! I agree with others that a ramp will make it easier going up and down the steps. Portable ones even better.
You gave me the perfect gift idea for my Father, he is 92. That and a Hot Air Baloon ride over Southern Ut. He still goes 100mph like you guys. Thank you!!!
My husband & I had a homestead in Montana with livestock. He passed away when I was 75 yrs old & I had both shoulders replaced. I managed 50 lb feed bags nicely with a wagon cart in the summer & a sled in the winter.
Oh, you two kids!!! Lovely to see that zest for fun and life is still going strong. We have the same bluetti and it is a beast to move, so a dedicated trolley might work. I'm also retired, and was out of action for three years waiting for hip surgery, unable to walk at all (so I made up by talking, LOL) . During that time I bought a battery powered wheelbarrow / trolley. That helped us a lot in getting our garden extended for food growth. Despite now being on the mend, I am going to get a garden tractor and mower to ease taming the 3 acres that have gone wild. We are so lucky to have these things available to help us live a full life even if we are no longer power lifters at "our age". We have lots of other skills, even if asking for help isn't one that comes naturally. All the best to you from the UK, 🚜
I love your open honesty about aging. The world tries to hide it and stuff it away or only talk about the good golden years stuff.
Thank you for being so brave and sharing the realities of learning to adjust how you can.

I would like to see a video on using the pressure canner as an autoclave. Times and pressures? What can be sanitized besides metal items?
A small ramp would solve the exit/ entry bump. Absolutely love your videos.
About eight years ago (at 64) I got a cart for the larger garden pots. 👍.
As you pulled the first cart I was feeling with you. I love you guys and how you share your lives and educate us. Thank you so very much .
This is one of my favorite videos. It was fun!
You can use a piece of OSB or plywood as a ramp for those steps.
NEVER would have guessed you’re in your late 70s!! I would have figured much younger. 😊👍🏼
Lol he's having fun😄
Keep going! Great ideas! My husband and I are both 84 - helping each other out - mindful of each other's limitations! Thanks for all you share!
You're a good sport, Jim!
Keeping active it is key 🙂
I do hope you get your proper rest! 😘
Loved the carts and enjoyed you both.🥰
You two are just the cutest. ❤
Hello 👋, how are you doing today; how’s everything going; hope it was a blessed & fun day for you Kayla?
Love you both! From Canada
Just have fun reinventing your life. That is what a lot of people do who have challenges.
We use our wagon to unload groceries from the car to house. One trip and everything is inside and safe from elements.
I'm the second child but with the first born tendencies..lol..I basically have to do most things by myself on our 10 acre farm..my gorilla cart and hand truck are my go to back savers to be sure...I really enjoyed your lesson
Hello 👋, how are you doing today; how’s everything going; hope it was a blessed & fun day for you Sonya?
Hahaah
Great job! Those carts are perfect. Really enjoyed the video. Jim is a good sport.
Love you both!!
Ms Pam and Mr Jim... We love you! You are hoots! 😆😄😃
❤ Love you guys, Thanks for the video
Pam and Jim, thank you both so much for all you do. Especially your candor and humor about aging, and your common sense methods for dealing with whatever life hands you. Enjoy your December vacation and visiting your children. I hope to view you and your videos in January.
Great team smiles
When going out the door, it’s easier if you push the cart out in front of you. You have more control.
Suggestions, put a 2x4 piece of wood to make the step smoother
You two are just adorable 💖🥰👍
My parents were both firstborn children and my dad was an only child. So funny both were leaders and very directed.
Thanks for sharing your moving solar-powered generator.
You are awesome for not aging without a fight. You're very young and agile.
Pam and Jim, I have fallen in love with you and your channels. I wanted to share a thought, a small ramp the width of the largest cart coming out of the door would be even more convenient for you.
This video made me smile. Love your honesty and transparency!❤
Wheels a great invention!
Crack me up! You two are like a couple of kids playing with your new toy! Love it! ❤
Oh my goodness! The end! You two are amazing and so cute. 😁❣️
I want my husband and I to be like that when we grow up!
💗💞❣️🤗🥰
You guys are so sweet! I am glad you have each other!
Wonderful video! Thank you Pam and Jim.
LATE 70’s!!?? no way!
Hooray for you staying so active ❤
You gave me the perfect gift idea for my Father, he is 92. That and a Hot Air Baloon ride over Southern Ut. He still goes 100mph like you guys. Thank you!!!
My husband & I had a homestead in Montana with livestock. He passed away when I was 75 yrs old & I had both shoulders replaced. I managed 50 lb feed bags nicely with a wagon cart in the summer & a sled in the winter.
Thank you , thank you, thank you! Cannot tell you how 'on time' this was for me!!
Omgoodness, ya'll are such sports 😂🤣 How brave!!!!! Another great video 💐💙🙏🇺🇲
