Here's the twist - imagine if the supermarket very publicly and scandalously cut all ties with the farmer because of the farmer's behavior that was deemed immoral, and a highly controversial product that was deemed completely unacceptable by the supermarket’s standards. Basically, they're telling the whole world that they do not want to be associated with this farmer anymore. Now imagine driving that where I live in northern New England where most of us drive 4wd trucks. And big ones. My neighbor got a Smart car thing while her van was being fixed and she said it was a terror to drive from fear of being squashed...And that's like 4 times the size of this car at least. If not 6 times bigger. And my Blazer which isn't especially large makes it look like a tot's car.
If they made electric cars the size of the Peel P50, I'd get one. They'd be light, quiet, easy to get indoors and I wouldn't get wet during my commute because it has a roof. Even today you could get a radio or at least a Bluetooth speaker in there instead. Even if it was 50% longer and heavier... that's still easily enough. As long as it was wide enough to fit through a door and could do 40miles on one charge... there's a market for that.
As a dedicated cyclist, who doesn't mind riding in the densest of all traffic, I would probably be terrified in this thing. Because when cycling and you see danger coming, you could jump off your bike, you could use arms and legs to potentially lessen an impact. In this thing, you are cramped together without much of possible movement, whatever is coming for you, you basically have to accept it and wait for the impact. Especially since you are so low and tiny with this. A Dodge Ram would run over you and not even recognize it.
