The ammo issue is why I prefer multiple engineers in an army like this and having it led by grombrindal since he boosts gyrocopters. Brimstone guns are insanely effective at eliminating single entity targets, but they have to spend a lot of ammo. Honestly, this army is more trouble than it’s worth in my experience so I tend to only rely on it to wipe the floor with chaos and when I’ve objectively won my campaign and feel like goofing around
Agreed. I tried a Grombi + Gyrobomber stack and found it lacking. The ammo was a huge limitation. I noticed the gyros miss a lot of shots hitting dirt, especially with infantry constantly dancing around. I think they're ok units for sniping enemy artillery, just not really made for a doomstack. I found the best way to conserve ammo is to run squadrons of 3-4 coptors shooting at a single target. That's usually enough to inflict the leadership penalty for taking lots of damage in a short time, making enemies rout faster.
@@dark_side_cookies I think the brimstone guns are just underrated these days, tbh. I can consistently kill beefy legendary lords like Grimgor before he even makes it to my front line with a well micro'd brimstone gun on legendary difficulty without Gromby's war machine skill to buff their damage. Dwarfs have so few units who benefit from meticulous micro, so you can take one or two and micro the fuck out of them to spectacular effect if you know what youre doing. Rangers and Miners with Blasting Charges are another examples that a single stack benefits from carrying even just a couple of. The best part is that all of these units suffer from the ammo weakness but the fact that you can get your first guarenteed master engineer at tier 3 now means you can more reliably shore up this glaring weakness by a minimum of 4 to 5 restock charges per battle!
Ultimate dwarf doomstack - lord, 18 engineers, 1 max rank grudgethrower with snipe. Park your engineers in a forest, place grudgethrowers outside the forest. I’d probably have gone with flame cannons with snipe, for the infantry instead of grudge throwers.. Flyers for biggies, and flame cannons for blobs. Homing missiles aren’t worth poop, in my opinion
For Thorek I found that Quarellers and Grudge throwers where all I needed. With Thorek's unique skills and the bonuses from the devices you recover they are cheap and can take on anything and are fight just as well in seige or field battles.

He had to break out.
It's kinda weird how homing shots work with Grudge Throwers. The homing shots with Doom Divers works better because the projectile is coming in at a flatter trajectory before impact, hitting more unit models. The Grudge Thrower seems to only start homing two thirds of the way through the arc instead of the full way like the Doom Divers. Honestly not worth it in the end.
