WOW WOW WOW Dave! Well first of all so sorry for missing this video when it came out. We have had a lot going on here that we have no control of but we got through it and back to normal...I hope. I have to say that watching you use my ideas has warmed my heart and I am so happy to see it in action. I have photos sent to me by none TH-cam creators but this was wonderful seeing you doing these things. Just a happy moment is all I can say. I can see all kinds of wonders coming from you shop now! Thanks again and Cheers my friend, Gary
Oh I forgot to mention one more thing. As I watched you cut the blank round I could not help but see some great control on following the line. I did so much of that at work it is easy to see something well done...so Well done Dave!
hi Gary thanks for the kind words hope everything is okay your end thanks for your videos am learning a lot from them and putting them in to practice thanks for all you do for us take care dave
Two cautions on a large parting tool. 1st the thickness needs to be as thin as possible because a thick tool reduces the wall thickness of your glued up and turned bow. The 2nd caution is the height of the parting tool. When you have a tall tool and the diameter of the circle can cause the tool to bind in the cut and cause you to loose control of the tool. If you have a Robert Sorby one that is about 1.25" tall that can bind up the smaller the rings get because the height is not fitting into the grove and is hitting at the top of the tool due to the curvature of the ring. So ideally you need a 1/16" tool that has a small height.
Hi Dave, I don't know whether you've seen it? I've just seen that Simon has put a vid of the Midi Pro up, th-cam.com/video/Qm1w9GKjgbY/w-d-xo.html I just put a comment on making two comments in two months! He could do with some love over there! I loved this vid BTW, I also followed through to Papa, I will have to try it one day.
