Hahaha Yeah, you definitely had to suspend your disbelief for Serpent and the blah blah blah. That duology killed my craving for romantic fantasy. In a bad way 😣 I'm going to be picking up Shadow of Self this month! I'm happy to hear the plotline picks up and it was 5 stars for yoy. I felt the Alloy of Law to be a bit lackluster. But I really liked the new characters. ARE GONNA READ GRACE OF KINGS SOON?!??? 😉
It’s funny because I really detested Wayne until the last book and Steris was my favourite character in that series, so I love when others have different thoughts to me, it makes me see the characters in a different light. Also I didn’t love the second era BUT the last book is incredible. It was totally worth reading them for that book alone. I’m looking forward to seeing how you feel about it when you get to it!!
For romantasy maybe try "The Mermaid, the Witch, and the Sea" by Maggie Tokuta-Hall ...I didn't care for Kaigen, worlds where fighter jets/cellphones and magical sword fights exist at the same time don't work for me
I haven’t read the sword of kaigen yet but I did pledge on the Kickstarter last year for the special edition cuz I didn’t want to miss out if I did love it. It’s supposed to arrive soon and I still haven’t read it so I guess I’m just going to wait and then read it on my pretty edition 😂 I finished the serpent and the wings of night and it was fine enough for me to get through but I’m not going to continue the series. lol.
I really wish I was one of the people who love The Sword of Kaigen and Shadows of Self 😭 SoS especially made me sad because I *loved* Alloy of Law and I love the Cosmere as a whole. I want to love Mistborn Era 2 too, but I’m not sure it’s in the cards for me lol. My main problem is Wax. He makes me want to go to sleep. It’s as if Sanderson was checking how little of a personality one could give to their main character, I swear. I looove Marasi too, though! And Wayne is hilarious haha
oh noooo!!! what didn't work for you for the sword of kaigen? and LOL okay the wax thing is totally valid. he was so bland for me in the first book, but this one actually made him grow on me 😂 but yessss marasi!!! 💕
@@christeascozycorner I essentially just didn’t like the characters! I liked Mamoru, but… well 😂 The book reads really well, though, and the fight scenes are stellar
I love that you love Wayne. I do too and I feel like that’s rare in the BookTube community. I ended up preferring Era 2 to Era 1 so I’ll be interested to see what you think. I do also have The Malevolent Seven on my TBR for this month so your review is well timed for me. Thanks!!

hearing you gush about your five stars always makes me want to pick them up even if they’re not in my usual realm 🥹 I’m also waiting for a romantasy to sweep me off my feet but the writing style is what takes me out in most cases so far 😩
