The movie grossed $243 million worldwide against a budget of $130 million. The studio canceled all plans for a sequel, and Will Smith had to forget about both the franchise and his son's promising career, which ended with "After Earth." Will Smith and Jaden Smith received Razzie Awards as the worst actors, and the final flourish was another Golden Raspberry for the worst acting ensemble. Will Smith himself calls the failure of After Earth the most painful in his career.
After Earth was truly awful. Jaden Smith is a horrible actor, but Will was blind to it. Nepotism at it's worst.
Will is a bad actor too
@@AHX214Nope
the kid has potential just the movie was bad
@@aperturefilm Um, no.
@@thisismyname3928 no what ?
"Cypher Raige" LOL
Reminds me of the usernames I used for WoW and SW:TOR.
This move is like a black hole in my memory, can't remember anything about this film despite knowing i watched it on tv😂
After Earth is forgettable and pretty boring. Usually when watching movies, I don't have a final opinion after 1 watch, I need to come to a true opinion after several watches. Here, after having it finished once, I knew: I will not watch this again. Both Smiths performed lackluster, scenery was boring, the movie looked kinda cheap, it was cluttered with bad dialogue and ridiculous interactions and most of what happens there just doesn't make the viewer invested.
And the movie has such a large and obvious mistake, that I saw it in this single watch: The huge shadow of the camera crane panning over the landscape while filming Jaden from above. That is NOT something you expect from a professional crew.
After Earth was GARBAGE
Will should have just went with the original script. It's his own fault this dumb movie failed.
Whenever Will Smith fails, an angels gets its wings.
😂
Angel of shit?
The two major problems with this movie were Jaden's acting and the concept of an engineered organism that was created intentionally blind just for the story's sake. Everything else would be accepted. And yet, I like to watch it once in a while when it's aired on TV.
Interesting! I actually enjoyed Wild Wild West, while After Earth had my attention and interest enough to view it once and once was more than enough lol
WWW also failed, I will make a video about this movie too.
@ Failed but at least to me considerably more enjoyable still. Pls do, would love to watch that 🙂
I was able to enjoy this movie in my country
Because the portuguese dub was able to mask the bad acting
It’s weird how far left he went in the 2010s went from making fun summer blockbusters to cringy boring Oscar bait movies. It literally took him till this decade to return to form.
Mission Impossible 3 did not fail at the box office, though…
I have a video about it th-cam.com/video/esbqzbGsO5U/w-d-xo.html
@ Thank you! I had no idea about this
Well Smith junior is very blah...
Brilliant film. When Kitai's father salutes him it is acknowledgement that he has achieved something that surpasses the expectations and achievements of his father which makes his father very proud of him 😃. It's like being proud of a family member or relative winning an oscar, getting an olympic medal or university Phd which surpasses achievements any family member has made. This film acknowledges that observation of life, I don't care what the critics says!
It's ok, Will.
Funny when youtubers are late to the game. Lol
No hype game here, just stories about old movies.
You’re an idiot, Lou.
Funny how late you are to school
I think you’re missing the point of this channel. He tells stories about why movies succeed or fail from both an artist and a business perspective. I love it.
