Just saw him in Milwaukee 2 nights ago. My daughter told me this is her favorite musician and it would be her dream to see him. So, I got 8th row tickets, flew us from the west coast into Milwaukee and all I can say is WOW! WOW. I’ve been to some incredible concerts in my day and this man and his band is at the top of the list. Can’t wait to see him again.
Bucket list to hear him live!
I ran into this song about a month after my father died. Still don't know all the words but the words and music made me cry. I don't even know how to describe why but it did. Love my Dad.
❤I love the cello, the Violine, his guitar, everything, I saw him live in germany Berlin. He is the goat
the most underrated artist out there today! If he played at the Grammys, he would blow everyone away
yeah but would he have any costume changes? who really cares about the grammys?
I want to agree, because I love his music, but you could say that same thing about many, many artists. Screw the Grammy's. So much great music is still "underground" and only those looking to dig deep can find it.
R. Alexander such as? Any recommendations ?
Lord Huron
@@christian0707 Tom Mcrae's debut album is still one of the greatest things I've heard. Still plugging away but so few know him.
"Threw stones at the stars but the whole sky fell" beautiful.....
I'm coming late to this parade, but HERE I AM. So blessed to "discover" Gregory Isakov
same here....way late, but not TOO late....
"I threw stones at the stars but the whole sky fell"
Grace
Hug! Beauty & majesty of this line
50 years ago this would have been considered country music. This is real music, whatever genre you want to throw it in.
A song that ANYONE can relate to. I turn to this song when life gets rough, just a refresher
Never tire of hearing this..ever..
One of the greatest songs I've ever listened to! His lyrics to the meaning of this song are stellar! Truly the perfect song by a mountain campfire echoing over the stream...
Man I really missed the banjo on this one
yeah....same....is good, but I do like that banjo
such a lovely song , it always remind me when I lived in Colorado, one of the best places in the world!!!
Just so Beautiful!
The Stable Song - what does it mean to you?
Me? About individual challenges in “Life” - this song is so beautiful!
The lyrics to this song make me think of an elaborate country wedding and the groom either ran away or was stood up. He's drinking in the stables with the horses and wondering where it all went wrong.
You're insight is nice. Well done.
The close-up on the cello is amazing!
I saw him in Portland, ME in the spring, and it was one of my all-time favorite concerts. He has an amazing stage presence and his music was so hauntingly beautiful when played live!
+Beth White Same experience here in Michigan.
I've seen him a few times! I'm actually seeing him play tonight with the Philadelphia youth orchestra. I am so excited.
Fantastic and beautiful song... Rare these days
man I can totally relate to this. This guy's a genius. Awesome awesome song.
Kaylan!! TY so much for introducing me to the music of GAI!! This has become my fave GAI song and I know you love horses; I miss you! (Matt in Iowa USA)
I am completely insanely crazy over this man!!!! His voice is like a beautiful mountain spring. I want to know more about him!!!! Would love to see him in WV!!!!
that bow on the bass.....beauty
I am new to his music. I love it! Sorry I'm late!!
Never get tired of this very unique tune.
Pure class. Heart Lifting and Melancholy combined.
His songs heal the soul😊 so beautiful
this is so pure 💜
I like many different types of music. I actual play in a metal band and I'm not a fan of country music. But, this song makes me stop and listen. It hits me deep, damn good song.
This is more bluegrass, and funny enough you’d be shocked at how many metal heads discover and love bluegrass, arguably the biggest bluegrass artist now and the fastest flat picker alive, Billy Strings was a metal head.
Still my favorite song ever . It's simple yet deep meaningful and absolutely beautiful ❤️
Just completely soothed by his music
Met you on The Yellowstone ("Where the Yellowstone Goes") had to hunt for more... This is enough, I'm sold... You, Gregory Alan, are one fantastic musician... Headin' to the record store...
simply breathtaking
Beautiful, sad - American.
"Ring out those ghosts on the Ohio", gives me chills and a feeling of long ago times.
Hits so many points of your own life doesn't it?
Such a beautiful song!
I love finding new music, it's awesome and well searching.

Turn these diamonds straight back into
Coal 😊
Not bad not to bad at all....
Kinda reminds me of Paul Thorn... Just as good Too..
This isn't country music. What we call country music is a product of Nashville, which is very different than this. Some call this more traditional music Americana. It really is a return to a more traditional American music. One of the hallmarks of which is a lack or disemphasis of percussion. Other than a simple base beat percussion in such bands is very much a product of the 20th century.
It’s folk
I hope to see him live one day...
Does someone know what the second microphone is for? I noticed it at other live-performances as well.
He uses it in 'That moonn song' :)
Ah, I see. Thank you Emilia. I'm going to see him live in 3 weeks :)
I think it is a Green Bullet Harmonica microphone. Its generally used for harmonicas and kind of has a low-fi sound when sung through, almost like an old time recording. A lot of indie artists like them for their sonic qualities. I think Jack White has one built into one of his guitars.
I am hearding it at 2018..do like, if you too
Belo
That "poem about everything" line he uses to introduce the song. I used to think that was super deep and listened to the lyrics with that in mind. Until I heard him introduce a completely different song exactly the same way in this performance: th-cam.com/video/MjKZqq0pZ80/w-d-xo.html
You sir, have way to much time on your hands. No need to stalk GAI
@@qwinbutton5156 Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Gregory. He's one of my all-time favorites. It just made me scratch my head is all.
I like the banjo more than the violin
This is not country. It has some country roots, But it;s more bluegrassy and folky.
Indie Folk apparently
Isn't his fiddler usually playing with Brandi Carlile ?
Crazy, because I just noticed that too!
Jeb Bows: Isakov’s fiddle player, Jeb Bows, is the building’s maintenance man - www.denverpost.com/2009/05/14/the-cultivation-of-a-homegrown-talent/
RAHAN G He does also play with Brandi!
Gregory is friends and has toured with Brandi, she is on his album Empty Northern Hemisphere
Not the best recording of this song... they have much better versions like the one in the cave.
Who asked?
