    Red meat has been an absolute game-changer for my health. Since switching to a simple diet with steak and eggs, my energy levels have skyrocketed, and I feel better than ever. Along with that, I’ve added a few key supplements from a book called Secret Supplements that turn you into a Superhuman. One that’s been really helpful is creatine it pairs perfectly with red meat to boost performance and recovery.

      By ,"autoimmunity" do you mean you have an Autoimmune Disease? I ask because I have more of a rare Autoimmune Disease called, Graves Disease. I was diagnosed almost 3 years ago and I am STILL not on medication for it. I struggle greatly every day. Most days, I cannot even manage to do the basics necessary things, like cooking a meal, doing skin care, washing my hair often enough. Living a life, leaving the house, going places, vacations, dates with my husband, hikes with my dog, etc. Are not even a possibility. And I am only 33 years old. It has completely destroyed my life and taken everything away from me. It's been impossible to truly LIVE with how bad I have been feeling. I have anywhere from 3-20 different symptoms, most of them painful and exceptionally stressful, every single day. All I want is my life back, but I am struggling badly with trying to figure out how to do that. I cannot afford a Holistic Doctor, and that seems to be the best place for healing Autoimmune Diseases. They do so many things that normal doctors don't do, and they help you change your whole body and lifestyle, rather than just giving you a pill and hoping for the best. If I am correct in my assumption, would you mind giving me some tips on how you healed yourself and things that I could do, too? I simply cannot live this way anymore, as I am not LIVING at all. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you 💛

  • @Drhei
    @Drhei 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +562

    Grass-fed red meat does have some nutritional advantages, like higher omega-3s and antioxidants, compared to conventional meat. But even with grass-fed meat, there’s still substantial research showing that excessive consumption of red meat, in general, is linked to increased risks of cancer and heart disease. It’s great to highlight the benefits of red meat, but balance is important-health experts generally recommend moderation and variety to get a full range of nutrients that red meat alone can't provide...

    • @livemusic
      @livemusic 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      To be labeled as “grass fed,” the animal only has to be fed grass for something like the last month or so before slaughter. I don’t recall the exact time, but it’s relatively short. So it’s safe to assume that much of what we find in the store was raised by on grains, for example, and finished on grass.

    • @Drhei
      @Drhei 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

      @@livemusic Actually, the USDA requires that for beef to be labeled 'grass-fed,' the animal must be fed only grass or forage throughout its entire life after weaning, with no grain allowed at any point. However, you're right that some beef is marketed as 'grass-fed' but might still be grain-finished if it’s not labeled '100% grass-fed' or 'grass-finished.' It’s important to check the labels closely to know exactly what you're getting!

Many people like to say they are vegetarians and that should mean good health But in fact they don't know the first thing about the nutritional values of various vegetables. So they are not all healthy. It's not what you label yourself that counts, it's what you put into your mouth. If you must label, I'd rather say Nutritarian... Lol. . There are dozens of vegetables and fruit that contain much more protein than most even know and it's important to balance them out, instead of only eating a choice few, Maybe just because it tastes good. I guess there's a learning curve of how to select and prepare fruit and veggies in order to balance the nutritional needs and make it taste good for all different palates. Where ignorance is bliss, it's folly to be wise.

    I recently discovered your channel and immediately subscribed. You won't believe that I insisted that me and my wife must only eat chicken and pork because of all the negative things that have been said about beef. I've forwarded this video to my wife and I'm going to the market to buy beef tomorrow. I live in Nigeria and even though I live in a Government Reserved Area, we have cows all around eating grasses. Thanks a lot Dr Berg.

    This perspective on red meat as the top superfood is truly eye-opening! It's amazing how we've been conditioned to fear red meat due to concerns about cancer, heart disease, and more. But after hearing this breakdown on its superior protein quality, essential nutrients like iron, selenium, and collagen, and its role in stabilizing blood sugar, it makes sense why it might actually be key for optimal health. The insights into glucagon, autophagy, and how protein counters insulin are fascinating. Thank you for sharing this-definitely gives a fresh view on nutrition!

    Dr Berg Notes
    Dr Berg tells you about the #1 superfood, red meat! Some people think green powder is the best superfood, but while it's very beneficial, it’s missing one important ingredient-protein. Green powder has vitamin C, K1, beta-carotene, magnesium, potassium, and phytonutrients but no protein. To optimize your health, you might want to start consuming grass-fed red meat along with your green powder.
    Red meat is an excellent source of B vitamins, fat-soluble vitamins, iron, selenium, zinc, and DHA. Grass-fed red meat also contains phytonutrients. Red meat increases the antioxidant glutathione and is a potent source of carnosine, an antioxidant that helps prevent glycation.
    Protein consumption triggers the hormone glucagon, which stabilizes your blood sugar and helps counter the effects of insulin. Grass-fed red meat protein is the best source of protein!
    A large portion of your body is made of protein. Muscle, collagen, ligaments, tendons, fascia, cell membranes, skin, and bones are all composed of protein. The 74,000 enzymes in your body are proteins, along with your neurotransmitters and hormones. Your blood contains a significant amount of protein, and it's also essential for immune cells.
    Red meat contains taurine, an amino acid needed to help prevent high blood pressure, and leucine, an amino acid that triggers the synthesis of muscle.
    Your body can make glucose from protein when necessary. Gluconeogenesis is the production of new glucose, which occurs mainly in the liver.
    The protein leverage hypothesis states that animals, humans, and insects will continue to eat until they satisfy their protein requirement. This is why you will overeat if you consume junk food-it has no protein! If you have low blood sugar, you should consume protein, not candy!
    Red meat contains myoglobin, a type of protein that helps carry oxygen. Red meat contains more myoglobin and iron than white meat. Cows, sheep, and goats have a unique ability to concentrate the nutrients from the grass into their meat.
    Thank you Dr Berg! 😺👍

I was able to quit taking my blood pressure and lasik heart meds. I lost 60 lbs and still have 80 lbs to go but it's not about the weight loss but rather the heart, brain, and so many other health benefits the weight loss will take care of its self. After the stokes my gate and cognitive thinking was shot but 6 months later on meat and eggs and healthy saturated fat I was confinant climbing on a ladder and back programing a CNC. I have since had a surgery and other issues with my back and when I am in pain I lean on comfort food (carbohydrates) now my balance is all wacky and I can hardly perform any thing that requires serious thinking. My weight only jump up 10 lbs as I didn't fall of the wagon entirely. I'm back down to the weight I was before but my gate and brian is still screwed up but I am confident eating strict again my walking and thinking will return.

      Lots of online options - or search "grass fed or pastured meat near me" and peruse a website called "grow local". You'll be surprised to find farmers near you growing grass fed (unless you're in the gobi desert, lol)

      Most cows eat grass during their life span, they just get fed grain in the end to fatten up. If you can't find 100% grass fed & grass finished, then grain finished is STILL better than anything else out there so don't let that stop you!

    I’m a type 1 diabetic since I was 12 years old, I noticed when I eat protein in the morning and then a couple hours later eat a serving of steak cut rolled oats with blueberries. My blood glucose stays stable for quite some time. Also when I was on a high protein low carb diet, I was fuller for a longer amount of time and when I got lows, it would take longer for my blood glucose to go up! Which was ver very difficult during my pregnancy lol.
