hello and happy new year !!! i have a T818 but it's impossible to change the firmware (5.14 to 5.18) because the boot mode do not work... Do you have the same problem ?
Worked fine for me, but I had to install the driver package a second time before it installed the firmware upgrade tool on my computer. To enter the boot mode turn off your wheelbase. Then hold buttons 22 + 23 simultaneously, while then pressing the power button on the back of your wheelbase. T818 will then start in boot mode (no LED ring) and it will be detected by the Thrustmaster firmware tool
Yes Thrustmaster has communicated about this. There is a small bug for the firmware update which will be solved soon via a new driver. And the only difference between V5.14 and V5.18 is to facilitate the assembly on the line production. So it's not an issue (as there is no difference in games or in terms of functionality beetwen these 2 firmware)
Hey Sir, appreciate your early impressions on this wheelbase. I am in the Thrustmaster ecosystem for many years now, so this was my logical upgrade and I am happy with it. I am also running the wheelbase on performance mode with 0 damper in the driver. How would you compare the level of oscillation from this wheelbase compared to other DD units you have tested?
Every DD I've used has oscillation, it's typical. If you add damping, then that will reduce or eliminate it. Or run the FFB mode in the settings to a lower setting. Personally, I've never found wheel oscillation to be an interference, I always have at least one hand on the wheel.
@@kolysion164 Thanks mate, I don't mind the oscillations because they only come up when you don't hold the wheel tight, which I normally don't do. Let's hope TM will give their users a bit more sliders to work with, rather than forcing them into predefined modes.

@sertec4804 not really. It's said that some people have had heat issues but I don't think it's any more an issue with moza as it is with this base. The Fanatec csl and cs bases have a nice big heat sink and Moza do have a pretty minimal surface area, but most people say it never gets more than warm. But there's a law that keeps products being allowed to go over a certain temperature (can cause burns). So theoretically, the better the cooling solution or more headroom, the less likely the base motor will need to drop peak output. I was playing though. My honest thoughts are moza r9/r12 and r16 are excellent products! I'd be hesitation to recommend the R5 or R3. I recommend the csl dd 5nm and the ali express 180w boost kit of wanted for 50 bucks. Moza r5 is already 50 bucks more here. It's like paying for an R5 but getting a CSL DD 8nm. So under the R9, I wouldn't recommend other than if you really want a nrg quick release, and don't want more than 5nm
Hi, great to see first impressions. I'm wondering, because I'm a T300 console player and have a question about future console compability. Is there possibility to plug TH8A shifter directly to the wheelbase of T818? I'm asking because some games (for example WRC 10) doesn't recognize shifter plugged into PS5 USB, it has to be plugged into wheelbase
As far as I know, TM haven't said if they plan to make a console compatible version of the T818. It wasn't listed on their roadmap they put out when originally announcing the new series Txx8 branded wheelbases a year ago. The T818 has a socket for pedals, but not a shifter. I expect if they eventually make a T818 for consoles, they'll add another socket for that.
@@SimRacingCorner I think they gave some answer at TT that they are working at some compatible but nothing clearly. So maybe it will be some seperate model for ps5 and another for xbox, who knows :)

Heres 2 reasons to be optimistic 1.) They are building the T818 in France because they wanted the best build quality they could bring to market. 2.) They didn’t rush to market. I had a 2nd hand g29 for my first wheel thing was a tank. I currently run a Thrustmaster TX with 2 years of daily use and never had any issues so their build quality has improved. If you still are sceptical Logitech makes a great DD base
I have a T300 and it's 9 years old and it works like on day 1. I never had a Fanatec wheel, but I heard a lot of times that Fanatec has a bad quality control and that there are many, many problems with the wheels so I don't think they are better than Thrustmaster when it comes to reliability. Also Fanatec seems to have a very bad support. I can't say anything about Logitech reliability, but Logitech definitely is a company that wants to get as much money out of the customer as possible. Before the T300 I had a Logitech driving force gt then I got I PS4 and Logitech decided to not make it compatible with PS4 although they could have done it easily. Thrustmaster at the same time decided to make there wheels which are working on PS3 compatible with PS4 and now many years later they made it compatible with PS5 instead of forcing you to buy a new wheel. So company policy of TM is better than I would expect it from a company that still wants to earn money. Logitech company policy is very bad in my opinion, therefore I'm not buying there products anymore. But it's definitely up to personal opinion if you support that or not, or if you care about that or not. And if you only play on PC it doesn't effect you anyways so you might ignore that

Questo e il mio punto di vista.. magari mi sbaglio! Buona serata a tutti e buon 2023! Grazie per la tua recensione del prodotto e per i consigli!!👋👋👋
Stupid question I know, but can I use my t300 wheel without problems with the t818 base?. Happy new year dude.
@@christopherpope1800 You can. There are adapters for that (one is included in the box). You can see how it works in the unboxing vid.
Buona serata👋
I just don’t trust Thrustmasters build quality. Had 2 T300’s and both broke. Logitech G29 never broke once. Fanatec also never broke on me.
Did you buy the T300’s brand new?
@@richardsracingmad yes!
Every product i’ve bought from TM except my t300 and and pedal stand have had an issue but i look forward to getting this
I have a T300 and it's 9 years old and it works like on day 1. And if you only play on PC it doesn't effect you anyways so you might ignore that
All Thrustmaster products squeak in my experience haha
