This episode stems from a very interesting series of events; Matt and Trey met Russel Crowe at the 72nd Academy Awards when they were both nominated for awards (Trey for best song, the south park movie and Russel for best actor, the insider) and quickly became friends. Russel liked them so much, that he invited the pair to his house to listen to the final mix of his new music album (which usually means it's in it's final stages and you're supposed to give notes). But when they arrived there, Russel proceeds to insert a finished album and forced everyone there to just listen to it, which Matt and Trey described as "Bon Jovi meets hepatitis C." Then a bunch of people showed up late, and Russel put it back on from the start again. So basically this episode was just revenge on Russel Crowe for making Matt and Trey listen to his album (especially the scene where Tugger kills himself, because that's how Matt and Trey both felt). But Russel has always been super cool to them. He apparently wrote them a letter after Team America came out, telling them both how much he liked it. The only problem he really had with them was his regret that he didn't get to voice himself in this episode. 😂 Edit; also the "fightin round the world" part of the episode stems from the time around the episodes release when Russel had supposedly gotten into bar fights on 3 different continents with the course of a couple months 😂
That's pretty crazy, I think a lot of celebrities that are mocked in South Park don't take it well. I know Kanye really didn't get it. That he just wanted to voice it and thought it was hilarious shows some willingness to take some jabs.
Russell: **Grabs Matt and Trey** OY! What the bloody hell d’ya think you’re doin’ not inviting me on to spoof meself?! D’you know who I am?! I’ma flush you both down a toilet ya cu-!

I know most South Park episodes are absurd, but let's review what happens in this episode: 1) The boys freak out about seeing a *TEASER* trailer to a stupid TV show about farts. 2) Russell Crowe's "Fightin' 'Round The World"... 3) Russell Crowe beats up a man with cancer... 4) Russell Crowe's tugboat attempts suicide. 5) Said boat _survives_ attempted suicide. 6) The boys intrude upon Chef, a nursing home, and some homeless people to selfishly use their TVs to watch their stupid teaser trailer. 7) Chef's TV goes 'nanners. 8) Shelly floods her house with menstrual blood. 9) When the boys finally see the trailer, they throw their popcorn and donuts everywhere after consuming absolutely none of them and running with them everywhere they went.
Butters is never gonna become like Mr. Slave. Mr. Slave is completely focused on his self actualization pursuing his passion despite sociatal dissaproval. He knows exactly who he wants to be and is very focused on living according to his goals and values. Butters is the complete opposite, everything he does is motivated by gaining approval of people around him to the point that his real self almost doesn't exist, although it does come out every now and again. But 99% of the time he just does what other people tell him to do or what he thinks they expect of him.
