- I've been working on this dual handle gimbal rig for my DJI RS2 for over a year now and finally found time to make a video breakdown about it. I hope my video can provide some inspiration for other people who are dreaming about something like this as well. Enjoy!

U re not normal man, you are an alien 👽 !!! Loved it
This video deserves millions of few, you are a god send. Also loved the product highlights with the parts, this was such a useful detail. Thanks man
Third time watching this video-- Lots of details. Thank you for the hard work and nice explanation.
well done video...easy to understand a complex project
Very helpful video and loved how you showed putting everything together. I just started videography journey this year and looking to make some short films in the near future. For now I'm doing vlogs style videos with story telling elements and this video was perfect, since I have most of the gear and will just need the accessories to build up slowly!
Thanks for mentioning the delay on the handle. It's a bit of deal breaker for me. Great video. Cheers!
merci pour cette démo ; thanks a lot for this video 🤗
Well done!!!!!!
Good job man 💪🏼
Why would you put the monitor on the camera? When the gimbal is in a lower position you will have difficulty seeing the monitor. I always mount it off the gimbal.
Good for you. Because he wants to do it that way.
Right! The monitor should be mounted off the gimbal. In this way you could rotate the inclination of the monitor to have an excellent view in all positions.
For the reasons I pointed out in the video: Weight is not on one side of the rig, and the monitor moves with the camera. This is all a matter of taste.
Amazing work great video! Very well explained!
Question for you - it looks like your monitor is very close to the back of the gimbal - do you find you can't really tilt up with this setup?
Indeed, tilting up is limited, and not practical in this setup anyway because the screen gets blockt by the gimbal arm.
Ok good to know!
As a matter of preference I’d probably mount monitor off camera and use counter weights if needed.
Thank you! Definitely using some of your advice in this vid for my rig.
epic intro
Thank you for this incredibly helpful video Johannes. Is it possible for us common-folks to locate the two component parts used to mount the monitor via. the baseplate?
Thanks! Maybe try contacting SmallRig directly and ask them about these „DreamRig“ parts they made for me. Maybe they will make them for you, too.
Was looking for too !
hello where can i buy the natle clamp to attach my monitor to my quick release plate?
Hello, Thank you very much for this video ! I've looking for that since a long time ago !
I would like to know how you designed your own pieces with smallrig and if you could tell me a reference to your own monitor mount and others since I think I need exactly the same !
I'm using a ninja v+.
Thanks in advance and best regards !
Thanks! I designed it using Autodesk Fusion 360 and sent it to SmallRig (just google "DreamRig" and you'll find the website of that program). If they like the idea, they will manufacture it for you. And if they think there might be a larger demand, they will add it as an official product and give you commission on each sale. This has never happened to me, so I'm afraid that I cannot give you a part number or anything. The only thing you could try is to write to them and refer to this video. Good luck!
Do you mind sharing your Fusion files with us? Don’t mind paying you commission directly. 😊
Johannes. How you doing?. wow, insane dji- adios~🤘
Thanks! There was definitly some crazyness involved here 😂
I am curious about the meike 50mm ff cine lens, how does it perform? I am considering getting a set
I personally really like it, but I also have to say that I never owned or used another cine lens. I think it's definitely a good beginner lens, just because it's relatively cheap. The intro of my last video "5 Tips for SmallRig MagicFIZ Follow Focus" was also filmed with that lens.
Congrats on the rig, gorgeous. I would like to understand which smallrig accessory you used for the monitor holder at minute 2:50. I understood correctly, but did you create it yourself with pieces of other accessories? thank you very much
I planned the piece in a 3D design program and sent it to SmallRig. They then built it for me as a custom piece.
YesI had the same question... johannes can you send details on how to have small rig create this for all of us? or perhaps they have already?
@@sayitrightmedia7111 Send them an email! Or become member of the „SmallRig Product Community“ Facebook Group and ask there. If other people are also interested, maybe they’ll make a move.
Hell yeah I'm interested... 😅
@@johannesdoerr I'm interested too! Can i have the 3d model of the piece? So i can write to SmallRig and ask if they can do it for me! Super interesting video, thanks!
Is there a link provided to the SmallRig monitor mount you attach to the baseplate?
It's a custom piece that is not officially available. Maybe you can contact SmallRig and ask them if they can make one for you, too.
Nice build! I'd like to replicate it, but I can't grasp where to find the first mount you placed at the bottom of the gimbal plate at 5:20. If you could help, I'd be hella thankful!
That is a custom piece that SmallRig made for me. Maybe you can ask them if they can make this exact piece for you as well.
Will do. Thanks! @@johannesdoerr
Can u do this same build on rs3pro. I just wanna see it done
I don’t have one, sorry…
On the tethered controller, does the gimbal lock when you hold down the trigger ? Like it does on the actual trigger. Mine does not
It does, but with a delay, see 15:03
Does it displayed ‘locked’ on the screen as the normal trigger does ?
@@terryalexander4783 I just checked… no, it does not show anything on the display.
@@johannesdoerr thank you for checking !
what about briefcase mode, that is nice but id miss it
yeah, I never use that actually, but it's definitely impossible with this setup. That's what I meant with "I would not do fancy shots with this". To be clear: that's not the only configuration that I use with the gimbal. I only do that when I use the cinema lens. When do you use that mode? Low angles? Or also "inception shots"?
Hello, thank you for this video, there is a part that is impossible to find. If you can send me the link please that would be great for the monitor support in your video at 5 minutes 18, the part you are holding in your hand on the right please. THANKS
Thanks! This is my custom monitor mount that SmallRig made for me. It is not officially available, but maybe you can write to them and ask if they can make that exact thing for you too.
Dios mio todo eso para hacer un video 😮
You can also mount your car keys and a heavy hard drive just in case.
😛 😂
Does the Tethered Handle Control works on the RS3 as well? I can't find any info online
The website says it's compatible with "DJI RS 3 Pro", nothing about "RS 3" and "RS 3 Mini".
@@johannesdoerr Thanks
Just came across a Reddit post that says that the RS3 (non-pro) is indeed incompatible, because it lacks the necessary digital connectors.
@@johannesdoerr thx a lot for your reply
5:20 can I have the model name of the monitor mount please?
This is not an official piece. I designed it myself and SmallRig manufactured it. They have their “DreamRig” program for that. Maybe you can contact them and ask if they can make that thing for you as well.
Did they ever fix that delay?
Not that I know of…
Hello there! How do I contact you about a collab opportunity with the NEEWER brand ?
instagram.com/johdoerr/
I don't see any DJI TETHERED CONTROL HANDLE in the DJI site... and is "currently unavailable" on Amazon!
AND, I think it doesn't work in a RS3 (NOT PRO) as you mention!
It's still available, here is another link: amzn.to/48By6Aw
Can small rig supply me with that shorter handle you have ?
I don't know, but you can ask them and refer to this video. Good luck!
What is the price of lcd ??

Hello
Great! After spending 5k euro, Now you can go and film more teddybears in the forest! 😂
I have been waiting for that comment 🤣
At this point just get a tilta
then a client comes and asks: can you shoot vertical?
Different jobs require different setups :)
There's no way this is properly balanced.
Believe me, it is :)
Es macht keinen Sinn, einen Monitor amGimbal-Arm zu befestigen und mit in die Balance zu bringen.
🤔
Besser finde ich, den Monitor direkt am Gimbal anzubringen. Am Gimbal arm macht es wenig Sinn
