I adore the fact that while Ben has always been known as the king of innuendo, he blushes faster than anyone and at the drop of a hat.
I like Bens Idea of reusing the boxes. Maybe we can get an episode where you make nice little treats that keep well and are relatively easy to make for normals for us to fill our own advent calendars.
Luxury advent calendars are good fun to watch others open but I can’t imagine buying one myself.

A friend of mine a few years back used to work for Tiny Rebel down in Newport, and apparently they're just the loveliest bunch of people, so I'm really glad they're getting some play on the channel.

I like Tiny Rebel, think they are good people and get their Birthday box every year, but they live more on the gimmicky side of the beer spectrum for their boxed sets. They do have the best packaging out there! "Luxury" beer advent calendars go for 150 quid and up!
Tiny Rebel are great. spent all day by their stand at the GBBF a couple of years back. (and a red stout aint unusual. Guiness is red)
Give siren craft a go. they have some brews that will make your hair fall out

I actually really like the idea of an employer doing the cheese one for a weekly snacky lunch for their employees if it was a smaller company. It makes a lot of sense at that price point, delivery schedule, and the amount of cheese like that. I like looking at these kinds of advent calendars because it goes beyond the idea of a quickly momentary chocolate and how an advent calendar can be used for more and also fit different scenarios, ie party, lunch, gift, etc.
I like Ben’s idea about creating their own advent calendars. Surprised they haven’t done so yet. And maybe make it so that people at home can make it or DIY, or perhaps things to look out for. I mean 2022 is a tough year, supposedly 2023 can be worse economically, so DIY advent calendar is not a bad shout
These were great ideas to craft your own. Especially the beer one. And I like the idea at start of each week give a week worth. Would make any type of food gift easier. You could decorate a box and even put each gift in either a box or a gift bags. Put tag on it with date. Maybe even fun sticker don't open before date. Especially loved beer and cheese.
OR sell it! I'd buy a Sorted advent calendar!
I love the idea of reusing advent calendars. I am tempted to buy a nice wooden one for my cousin now she's had a baby so they can have a nice tradition every year.

After Ben's comment about reusing the boxes, I'd love to see a video about homemade advent treats - the kind of thing that lasts weeks, can be prepared quickly, comes together very slowly, or can be prepared before and finished on the day. Now that's a cookery challenge!

Lol my 5yo girl has a healthy snack advent calendar. She has the snack before breakfast or takes it with her to school for her morning break.
She loves cheese also..this literally could be a family advent calendar for us.

Seeing Mike go for the Gruyere in the cheese advent calendar is the character development of the decade. From outright disliking cheese in general to knowing what flavors he likes to experience! Proud of you, Mikey.
I bought a Bonne Maman advent calendar. They have 23 limited edition fruit spreads and 1 honey. I also saw they included 2 teas to promote their new tea line. The flavors of the jams sound amazing. Things like apple, caramel, cinnamon; mango, raspberry, lime; strawberry with star anise; peach with jasmine flower.
Those sound incredible.

Abrupt ending to a great video left me wanting more! More innuendo ,more gift ideas, at my price point: wrap a craft beer, a wedge of cheese, and a dessert. Should make someone happy.
I love this review, but for an advent calendar review, I would suggest that next year you do it a few weeks earlier so that if we want them, then we can order them in time for Advent to actually start
150 quid for all that P&W cheese is actually not bad. It's an expensive shop for a good reason - the cheese is top notch! Those portions are decent, too.

Talking about spices, that advent calendar is really interesting for someone like me who is really not sure on which spices go well with different dishes. It would be nice to have a series on that. Maybe different dishes with the same spice!

So fun, that Just Spices made it to the UK. It is originally Start-up from Germany and was sold last year. In my book it is a little bit to expensive, but a fun gift for any foodie 😊
That is the only one I would seriously consider buying :) But yes, it is still expensive...
I feel like Mike has come a long way in his cheese journey, given I still recall his reaction to the weirdly flavoured cheeses (like the mint choc cheese and gingerbread cheese) and now he's found "normal" cheeses he likes XD
The cheese is my favourite so far, I'm not a completely massive cheese lover, but I feel it's so useable, if you were going to get a luxury advent anyway, then a great choice, do think they are all great gifts though. Remembering value/wealth is a very relative measure, I actually think they're all pretty good value, especially as many were completely exclusive to the calendars
I agree, given how small the portions seem to be 6.25 per is a bit high (though it does include 3 express deliveries of food items) but the variations do make up for it a fair bit. You'd have to have a pretty good cheesemonger for them to have 24 different *and interesting* cheeseboard-level cheeses.

3:54 Adding Spice to Eggs just elevates the dish and I LOVE Fries with a Peri-Peri Seasoning or the one that you get with a Packet of Masala Fries or Fish Fingers which is just awesome!

As it turned out though, all of the advent calendars are within what I could afford. But I think I’m still going for one with some chocolates in it.

I would especially love to see everyone making one and gifting it to one of the others - and it could be small things bought; a favourite tea or spice or beer BUT think of everything you could make; small small chocolates, small jams, soft caramels, food oils infused with herbs - all the food gifts!!!

Last year i started making advent calendars for my mum and sibling as their main christmas present. I don't have much budget, but just buying little gifts and snacks over the year makes it doable and they love it.
It's always nice to see Mike enjoying cheese, it's been one of his nemeses throughout the history of the channel.
I wish this Advent Calendars could be reviewed the beginning of November, so I would have time to order some for this holiday!
I think the biggest character arc of Sorted is Mike learning to love cheese

You guys should try making each other homemade advent calendars! My husband and I do this every year - it’s so fun. We’ll often do a little candy from a local chocolate shop every day, and then some “bonus” days where we’ll get a bigger treat: a craft soda, a fancy cheese, a pint of ice cream, etc. - all made by local producers. It’s such a fan way to surprise each other while supporting our local Christmas markets and artisan food producers.

The tiny rebel advent calendar is by far one of the coolest I’ve seen. And that’s without the knowledge it’s beer. I love the art and the way it’s crafted. It just seems fun!
I've just recentl started using Tellicherry Pepper and I have to say that it is definitely a step up from your ordinary black pepper and not even that much more expensive. For dishes that rely on nice pepper it is 100% worth it. E.g. my carbonara tastes wonderful with that.
These are all pretty neat, but I absolutely love the spice advent calendar. That's one I'd absolutely love to receive.

I think a good idea for the spice calendars would be if #24 were a gift card to a full/big sized bag of any of the previous 23 tester of your choice :)

Bens idea to reuse the boxes would be a fun food battle for next year: advent calendar edition! The boys would have one day or one hour to make a themed advent calendar full of treats for judgment.
And they would have to be shelf stable and sealed, possibly giving a “preserving badge”?
Ben I am glad you explained that today’s mincemeat contains no meat. I once flew from Calgary to Heathrow and when we landed we watched security confiscate some poor old gentleman’s Christmas tarts as soon as he told them they were Mincemeat. As fellow Canadians we tried to help him explain they did not have meat in them but the blokes were just too thick to listen.
Pleeeeease put these out a week or so earlier so we have time to buy them for the 1st of December!

Decided to treat hubby and myself to a cheese advent calendar (have been eyeing them for several years now) - with Ilchester cheeses from England (I'm in Canada). Can't wait to start! Makes a lovely change from the usual chocolates, etc. Last year hubby got me a 12 Days of Spirits Advent calendar - so much fun, especially as we tasted them all in one day!
Oh my gosh, I live in the US but I want nothing more than that cheese advent series. If I lived in the UK I would damn near order it and share various cheese experiences with friends and family for the holidays
There must be something similar where you live? If not, then someone is missing a trick there!
You guys should do a pass it on where you need to make a festive dinner. 1 Main entree, 2-3 side dishes, and a dessert. Each must use a different spice blend from the advent calendar. The challenge will be having each of the meal items compliment one another.
Order can be most to least likely to pass as a Mall Santa Claus.

The Tiny Rebel Brewery reminds me a bit of Dogfish Head Brewing here in the U.S., lots of odd and eccentric sounding brews that when you taste them are amazing. 90 Minute IPA is the gateway and if you can find/order Burton Baton it is a must try and an exceptional brew.
The difference being Sam Calagione of dogfish head isn’t a sexist prick.
Tellicherry pepper is actually left on the vine to overripen which gives it a more intense and almost fruity flavour. Plus it's available from pretty much every supermarket in the UK, I use it on pretty much everything lol.
Amazing to see Tiny Rebel getting recognition. The beer is incredible. Been a big fan for years now.
I know you said it as a joke, but I'd love to see what sort of things you'd put in homemade advent calendars! I've made them in the past but just filled them with shopbought sweets or chocolate, so what small, long-lasting, treats could you make many of easily to make it more special?

As a cheese lover, I would be so happy to receive the Paxton & Whitfield advent calendar. I honestly do not think its a bad price, considering the amount of cheeses you are receiving, the multiple deliveries and the amount of work going into prepping those boxes. As someone who hosts a fair amount during the month of December, this would take out so much work for me - and we have a cheese board on Christmas Eve so this would be perfect for that!
9:06 - Ben's idea here is one I'd actually LOVE to see you guys try! D.I.Y. foodie advent calendars. You guys suggest that idea every year, but haven't tried it yet, and it would be a slam-dunk holiday feature video next year.
Samples of fancy compound butters, little jars of homemade pickles or jams, spice blends tailored to the recipient, homemade fudges or caramels or marshmallows-- Everybody comes up with one DIY advent calendar to give as a present! Maybe using last year's calendars' cute little boxes, if you've saved them. It's definitely a large project to coordinate, but it would be SO worth it! :D

That is basically what my mum has done this year 😆 Last year she got a tea calendar with tiny little boxes that she has refilled with an assortment of different teas for me this year. Best part is that there aren’t any labels on most of them, so it encourages me to discuss the teas afterwards with her every couple of days. Honestly I can’t wait 😊

With everyone not knowing much about cheese I think it would be fun for you all to pick on of those cheeses and showcase it! Ones you don’t know anything about! Do a video on it! I would love to know more. Or field trip there to learn more!
Fortnums - Wonderful Advent Calendar and once you have bought the wooden box structure then you can buy the refill each year. We also bought our pupper a wooden Advent calendar and we fill the drawers with healthy treats like dried venison sausage - she knows exactly where it is 😉. The other one I can recommend is the Bonne Maman jam - a little jar of different jam each day and many are calender specials like strawberry and lavender.
Oh yes!!! Pleeeeeease make a video where you make your own advents. I would love to know what you'd put in yours, and not just goodies, but gadgets too.

It would be interesting to do the advent calendars at the bottom of the barrel from Poundland and aldi , asda as we are in a recession with a vlog included.
I like the cheese advent calendar and the spice advent calendar but probably wouldn't buy it , Mike got the most normal one with chocolate in it.
I got my mother an advent calendar of those fancy french jams. It was a bit pricey but i think she will have enough jam for the next few months so it might be worth it. ( also a fun way to try new flavours that we would never have got at the store)😊
WOW! Really love how you showcase beautiful and delicious British products (Ladurée aside!). Don't care what people say, but Great Britain (imo) has the most outstanding cheese selection anywhere in the world. So awesome to hear about Paxton & Whitfield. That Laduree calendar looks beautiful! I don’t like macarons so I wouldn’t buy it at any price, but I cannot deny how stunning the design is!!!
One of the only things that makes the chaos of the Christmas season bearable is the chocolatey treat behind every door 😂😂 if I was given one of these fancy advent calendar’s and was deprived of my little treat I’d actually be furious which probably makes me sound ungrateful but all I want is the little chocolates 😂😂

I saved a box from a beer advent calendar I got for my fiancé last year and I bought 27 beers and ciders to put in it this year (I doubled it on a couple of days because cans were small). Mix of alcohol free and with alcohol, some big breweries, some small, some local some foreign... SO EXPENSIVE 😂 I have not added it up yet (from fear lol), but I expect it to end around £80-90. Next year he may get a premade one again...

I love justspice. Order regularly from them. Couldn't justify the advent calendars. But I do love their Chinese and Italian all rounders. They also do a sample pack for about 15 pounds and you get 12
