We had our last Harescramble of the season this morning. It was 40° at start time. I followed your advice and my bike started right up off of the trailer. My bike also started in gear on the line when the flag went up.
Great info! My 2020 WR came with an AGM battery. The AG801 makes a big difference and I always like to start in neutral 👍 5:15 Interesting! I thought it was for hot starting as well.
Thanks for the advice. I have a 24 model. I've had 2 cold mornings where the bike wouldn't start. I almost thought i was going to miss my race. My bike developed clutch drag at 12 hours. Basket was good so I replaced clutch plates and that fixed the problem. My bike sometimes won't start in gear if I stall it during a race. Seriously considering a Rekluse for next year.
I'm the opposite I rode a rekluse for 5 years and now that I've been off it for 2 I can really say I'm riding better than ever it was making me lazy 😂.
Never knew they had a bulletin out for the rich running issue. I just had my 2020 rebuilt recently, saw the plug was fairly rich so I leaned out the map significantly, been running mint since.
Getting the oil up to operating temperature before attempting to start in gear helps a lot. I start in neutral for hare scramble starts and just click it into gear one second after hitting the start button, by then, the engine just fired up. For some reason, my 2023 starts way better than my 2021 model or my 2020 model ever did. My son just got the 2025 model and that seems to start perfectly every time.
Coincidentally, I just bought a used 2020 250fx with 2 hours on it and this info on the service bulletin and potential plug fouling is a huge help. Thanks for the tips. Did you have any plug fouling issues on your 2021? Maybe I should just buy the 21 ecu,
I was using Rekluse Auto, and I fried it in 15 hours of enduro races. It took 1-1.5 hours to get out of adjustment. On ~5h time enduro races, a typical scenario was to ride through 2 sections, then the clutch starts slipping. Adjusted it, but after the next section, it started slipping again. Adjusted again, then it starts slipping even before the end of a section. No idea if it was heat or style of riding.
@@CuriousRoach They had some clearance issues with the adjustment pin on the radius cx. The adjusting ring would slip out of position. They sent me and a couple of other guys I know new parts to fix it and I haven’t had any issues since.
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie did it unlock by itself or what? I got my radius cx 3.0 ~3/23. As far as I remember, the ring was in place because I was marking it to track the position. I had a feeling that clutch plates were wearing out too quickly, and I decided not to spend another $400 on a set of friction discs.
@ Yes, the ring was slipping between notches. The anodizing was gone and the pin was worn where it had been slipping. Rekluse sent me a new inner basket, pin and adjuster ring. If you had yours marked that might not have been the same issue.
Are you going to pick up a 2025 250FX. The reviews seems to be out now and everything seems very positive. Not seeing any complaints of less low end power like there were on the 250F. Motocross Action says it has a different lower air box design for better low end power. Sounds like another winner.
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie That's exciting! Would love to hear your thoughts on the low-end performance. Some magazine guys said the new 250F doesn't have as much torque. Hopefully the FX & WR weren't affected.
@@DirtBikingwithDonnie I can’t wait to see your content on that. My brother is thinking about upgrading his 19 250fx to a 25 before next race season. I’m worried I’ll like it too much and have to go back 4 stroke myself. Thanks for the response and take care!
Is the clutch lever sensor essential? I have an aftermarket clutch lever installed, and the sensor is not connected. Could I have any issues with the motorcycle because of this? (Wr250f 2020)
With all of this being said. Would you recommend this bike? I have a KTM 250 xc two stroke. But I’m really looking into getting a 4 stroke. However being miles in the woods and having the bike not start on me sounds like a nightmare.
Same issue with my 2020 yz450fx. Gonna try some of these tips
