I hope she comes back as a demi-god at the most though not elder god. It made sense she was beaten in the story here since 'her heart was not in the battle' but if she's actually fighting for virtue, the only way it would make sense for mortals or demi-gods to beat her is if she is at most a demi god herself

The conventional mother daughter dynamic is not present between Kronika and Cetrion in my opinion. Kronika doesn't have love for anyone but only her visions of how the timelines should be her creation

Cetrion should have been more thoroughly explored as a character! As an Elder God I actually expected of her as much as the rivalry between Kotal Kahn and Shao Kahn (Should've had a titanic battle...).
We now explore Cetrion is *INDEED* questioning her mother's intend all along but it was never shown until at the very end...
Cetrion should have more screen time
- she should have questioned mother's action in hiring thugs
- she showing regrets killing Elder Gods when confronting Raiden and blames he is the center of all the problems
- add a scene where Cetrion uses her power to bring Vera back to life so she can tempt Jacqui to hand over the crown...
- shares a scene with her mother Kronika asking why did she chose her instead of her brother Shinnok as a god of life (showing that Shinnok may be coerced into darkness).
Dude, I agree 110%. I felt like Cetrion didn't get enough screen time and wasn't well developed as a character. We only get to see her doubting Kronika's actions in her Tower ending (which isn't even canon).

She didn't and can't die, she just let herself be temporarily absorbed as part of Kronika and she was freed when Kronika died, as explained in intros. If she died, life would not be possible.
To be completely honest, I believe that Netherrealm Studios wasted a really good character that was Cetrion. Despite that she had some impressive powers, she didn't get enough character development. I believe she could've been much more. She was more reasonable and less corrupted than her mother or Shinnok, which would've been better if she in the end actually fought against her scheme. Watching her ladder ending, it is clear that she had a better sense of balance and justice than her mother.
It would've been great if in the storyline, she had joined Raiden's side, fought against her mother and took her place, restoring the timeline to the beginning.
I just hope that if they ever bring her back in the next game, she'll be much more stronger and independent rather than submissive, like she was in this game.

Because she has no physical age. Kronika is immortal therefore she still sounds and looks like she is in her young age. She was born that way. Same with cetrion, she was born in an old appearance.

You can tell that the only opponent whom Liu Kang genuinely wishes to fight and destroy is Kronika. He only fights the Revenants and Cetrion because he is forced to. Hell, he begs Cetrion to turn away from Kronika ("Please. No virtue is served by condemning the realms to endless war"). Adds to the sadness of Cetrion's death 😟

I'd like to see cetrion come back too, she's a complex character. Even though she's a goddess she has concerns of failing her mother kronika. Feels sad to leave her story incomplete.

To be fair, every new one is a re-do, since technically half the guys die in canon and yet, here they are next game!
@@DrkStrShadow well actually no. There was one original story starting from the original mk1 and ended with Armageddon. Then 9 rebooted it by starting from the beginning and changing some of the events. 10 and 11 continued that story but 11 threw time in there and fucked with everything now they gotta restart it again.
I honestly don’t mind the entire story getting rebooted again. I think that sounds awesome to be able to get a new timeline with old characters who have died and ones who have been discontinued from other installments. That’s honestly the only way to get them back, I think.

Clearly the pre battle dialogue there was not canon. The official canon time was erased by kronika..so everyone is gone except perhaps kitana and raiden and of course Lord Liu kang.
So I would not take some of those intro dialogue to heart.

Perhaps like regular gods, elder gods reincarnate, and considering who Kronika was, Cetrion's "death" might not be so permanent. We can only wait for MK12, or some other supplementary material to give us insights into this.
Also D'Vorah kinda hints at Raiden in one of their intros that Kronika didn't actually die when Liu Kang smashed her to bits

Cetrion is such a pushover. You can tell the look on her face that she wished she held her own fate and desires instead of always following what kronika set her out for. Such a waste of a character. She could’ve been better.
It is stated that Cetrion gets weaker if she fights for evil. She gets stronger if she fights for the good. This explains why she lost to Liu Kang easily. If she was fighting for the good, even kronika would struggle to defeat her.

seems to me that the ending signals yet another reboot, but now from scratch. So either we'll see only new characters inspired by the classics, new appearance but same "soul" (think reincarnation) and now Liu Kang is what Raiden has been since the first MK.

@@dominiquerosemond5682 Like that would happen. We'll probably get Injustice 3 first then MK12, with Liu Kang as the "protector" of Earth realm (but really the supreme god of the MK verse). I mean him and Kitana are rebooting the universe into something better then what has come before. This should mean the threats are more or less contained.
