    Simply killer. Pure blues gold right here. Timeless. 20 yrs from now this will still be good. Make that 50 yrs. Most of us will be gone by then but this will still be just as good as it was when it was recorded.

      @serioussam4105 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dislikes are mostly from the newbies who gets frustrated. I`m a noob but I put a thumb up but I know how it works :) because sometimes I get frustrated too if a lesson is a bit hard to follow and I sometimes downvote a video but than I calm down and come back and upvote it. :)

    This guy is great! If I could, I'd give this vidoe more than just one thumbs up!

  • @daddarioandco
    @daddarioandco  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is a personal preference. It would also have to do with what tuning you are using. Finding a gauge that fits your technique is important. .012s are a good place to start but works for Matt, might not work for you so experiment. with some gauges and see what works. We realize this isn't a perfect answer but there really isn't one - .012 to .052 or .012 to .056 are good places to start

    Solid gold, Matt! I've watched this and Part 1 before, but wasn't getting much out of it because I was still struggling to get the feel of playing with a slide. With that finally conquered I was able to watch and listen without that distraction and you really paved the way for me to get off to a flying start on slide with these videos. Thanks a ton! I've wanted to learn this for years.

    Thanks man, you're awesome.

    Matt, just caught the Part 1 & 2 Killer Slide. Mate, this is just what the budding blues players need. You put it together really well and it gives a whole range of goodies one can take away a practice.....Look forward to a lot more....And the funny stuff just gives the lesson that relaxed feeling, that I believe blues is all about. Rock on.

    Using open tuning, does this work in different keys like F or C or Bb ? It seems most licks are using minor or major pentatonic’s or would I be better off playing in 440 and using minor and major pentatonic’s scales ?? Thanks

    Matt you’re a genius. In 30 years of playing guitar I’ve never been so entertained and at the same time learn so much in such a small space of time! You ability link licks with trains, trucks and sheriffs with shades aids the learning process and makes it so much fun at the same time. I write this during Lockdown whilst trying to learn slide guitar and you are well on the way to helping me on that journey - thanks so much :-) !!

    Do you fret the note with your finger as you would normally, then just "lightly" rest the slide in front of it? Hard to see in the video.

      I totally relate man, I started off playing guitar listening to bands like Slayer and Metallica. Those bands obviously have great guitar riffs and have made important contributions to music for sure, but blues and country guitar just seems so much more real to me. It's much less focused on speed and aggression and instead feeds off of emotion and soul.

    Great lesson!!! Part l and ll. I have always loved Delta Blues and slide! Your "L" shape technique ALONE opened up a lot for me! It's the motif of Feelin' Bad Blues that Ry Cooder played on the Crossroads soundtrack! My favorite on the album. Thank you and if I need any more licks, you're the cat I'll come to!!!
