Yep. Pretty good lesson! I've been playing the same old freaking chords and songs for years and too lazy to change tuning....until now....got you a new fan!
Thank you Scott!! I am glad you found it helpful.
Thanks,very well explained. Appreciated ...
My pleasure! Thx for the good vibes!
@doubledsrockschool I am curious if you have played in c sharp open slightly flattened? I heard somewhere Hendrix used it. My 73 D-28 resonates nicely in that range. Anyway thanks again.
I normally play in Eb tuning with my own band. I tuned up to A 440 so it would be easier to follow for everyone watching. Hendrix and the band mostly tuned by ear to each other, so there were many night where they played in tunings that were.....organic. 😆 I love tuning in open G a semitone down. (Open F#?) It's fat and warm sounding.
Thanks. I keep coming back. Great teacher/player. Looks like a nice music room...
I love my music room. I worked hard to make it look like that. Thank you!
This is great D, now I have to double down and study this! you rock.
My pleasure! Keep on Rockin'!
good to knowwhere the basics are in open G - I'm loving ride. Makes a lovely change to write in. Reallly like your series. So practical. Thanks C

Excellent lesson ! I just recently tuned one of my Tele's to open G to play some Stones songs. I wanted to explore more possibilities and you did it for me . Great job and attitude towards your audience !
Thank you very much, Charles!
I did the same with my Tele! 😂
Cool!
Take off the low E string ,instant Keef
Yes sir!
Love that open G
Thanks! Me too!
Thanks DD. Basic stuff but so useful to come back to over and over. Sub'd
It's all about the basics!!
@@doubledsrockschool Absolutely, but what's amazing is after so many years of playing how often I skip over them. Thanks DD
Hey D. I just found your channel. I want to learn more about playing my guitar. I am 75 years old, but I can still learn. I know the cords, but I know nothing about any kind of picking. I hope I can learn from you. Thanks for sharing.👍👍🍁
I'll do my best to help you on your journey!
Man that guitar sounds good. ✌
Thank you!
Thanks!!! If you ever provide printable pdfs, I will be your first enrolled student.
Thank you Jeff! I just got a new software that makes tablature for guitar so, that is coming very soon. I am glad you like the content.
So if I use this tuning is it going up from the standard tuning in put more pressure on the neck? Are you using ultra light strings?
I do use light stings, but you'll have less tension on the neck because you tune 3 strings down a whole step, therefore lessening the tension neck. Tune your Low E and A string down a whole step and you high E down a whole step and that is Open G.
@@doubledsrockschool thank you it's not that hard is it
Groovy Baby northern Wisconsin Keep Praying In The Free World 10-4
Roger that!
Nice an simple even for an idiot like me,cool. Thanks for sharing 👍
I am glad you liked it!! 🍻
Great lesson. Take off the low E string and you are into Keith land.
Keef probably has done more for open G tuning than anyone else. He is the master!
A bit much for my novice ass but I can glean the simplicity . Been getting into Hawaiian slack key also in open G ...so messing around with the blues in ADHD ticks is the natural outcome ...Thank you for sharing your blues.
Thanks for the good words man!
I’m a open g player now I have a slide to incorporate
Open is so Good for Slide!!
I Would Fly In For A Lesson But My Jets In The Shop 10-4
Any time!!
Very good. Lots of Zep is open G. Elton John the b!tch is back. Saturday nites alright. Doobie brothers south city midnight lady really opens up the whole fretboard in open G and would be an excellent lesson.
I will take a look at the Doobie Brothers tunes! Thanks for the tip!
Check outthe one I did on some Led Zep Open G songs. th-cam.com/video/q5bGFYMC8SM/w-d-xo.html
@@doubledsrockschoolI'm in for Southside Midnight Lady, one of my all time faves. Would love a tutorial on how to play it. 👍 Btw, where did you get that model Strat on your keyboard? I have to have one.
👍✌️🇺🇸
Thank you!!
I don't understand how you got those 7th chords. At 4:20 you're playing a G chord not a G7.
Fair enough! It only looks like I am playing a G. In reality, the high E string is tuned down to D which means that when you fret the note at the 3rd fret, you are playing a pitch that is one tone lower. So if the 1st string 3rd fret normally sounds G, when you tune it down one tone, you get an F note on the 1st string 3rd fret. Which gives you a G7 chord. GBDF is G7. Forget about where my fingers are placed, listen to the sound of the chord.
@@doubledsrockschoolThanks. I didn't realize you were tuned down.
Switching is not easy .It's like going to UK and driving a car...
Yeah that's the one Keith Richards uses he says it's easy why do it the hard way I can't even believe he's alive but he is funny
He is quite the anomaly!! Such a rock star!
Way cool...lose the 6th string...dont need er Keefer style...
Thanks!! Yeah I'm thinking of setting up one of my guitars that way. Cheers!
Its not that impressive but its useful for sure
🛠
Thank you
My pleasure!
