I'm on for an Omega Silver Snoopy for the exact same reasons. If I don't get the call, no biggie. But, in a couple years when I would reasonably get the call, it'll time well with my "official" beating cancer. And I cannot think of a better watch to celebrate with. If I don't get it, a sapphire sandwich moon watch is a hell of a consolation prize!
As a slightly older gentleman coming up 60 ,I find it near impossible for me to see the time on the Daytona without out glasses.My breitling b01 43mm is the chronograph I wear when I want to see the time.😂

No date chronographs look the best. The only chronograph I like with date is the Sinn 144 STSA that's basically a Porsche design with a day date. To many companies jamming dates on chronographs that look terrible
I used to work for a glass manufacturer; they use lots of platinum to handle molten glass. It’s notoriously malleable and had to go to fabricators all the time to get re-shaped. This was industrial platinum, with no alloys..
Yeah I think he just misunderstood that. He is right that Plat is less resistant to scratches, but plat is also more durable in bending and in wear over the time over the 18k gold.
People want what everybody else wants. Thats the sad truth unfortunately, once this watch hype wave is gone, things will get back to normal. We forget that things were normal for over 100 years and only the ast 3 years have been insane in this market

The Daytona is a great watch, proportions are prefect in every way. I own a 116509 full white gold with silver dial. I didn't want a ceramic bezel (give me full gold). No date on the Daytona is right. I love wearing it, just an amazing watch. The weight reminds you that you have something special. The platinum one just magnificent.
Great video once again but would love to see more reviews on more affordable watches. Tudor was a great vid as well as oris in the past. Maybe some tags, tissot, Hamilton, mido, seiko levels. Thanks guys for the greats videos. Always hilarious.
Has anyone ever gotten a call after more than 2 years? I always assumed that if the waitlist was that long, the overflow just went straight into the ADs trash bin at business close.
The list length is directly proportional to how well you can charm your ad and convince them you will buy more in the future. Mine actually did divulge that they DONT want to sell to flippers so long standing history is best.
I always felt like the right side of the Daytona was a bit too bulky and made it seem unbalanced as a whole. One thing are the crownguards on a chronograph, but add screw-down pushers and it all just becomes a bit much.
Correction. It wasn’t the first ceramic Daytona. Reference 116515LN was the first ceramic Daytona I own this watch and there simply aren’t enough superlatives to describe this watch. Great video guys 👍

The Daytona is gorgeous. But theres so many other comparable pieces for a far more fair price. Rolex quality and craftsmanship is top notch but its not unrivaled.
Platinum has a distinct advantage over gold. Gold will wear or scratch off. Platinum never wears off or scratches off. Platinum simply moves around retaining the original precious metal. Platinum will eventually climb again as it is far rarer then gold.

Best ever? That's a bit much. The blue is nice. Platinum is cool I guess, really just a flex it doesn't offer much in looks or practicality. The brown kills it though, IMO. Such a weird clash with that blue, and not in a fun contrast-y way to me. Bezel and sub dial rings should be black, silver, or darker blue... no doubt.

I know this comment is rather irrelevant to the topic, but I just wanted to say the following. I just had a nightmare, something I haven't experienced in so long, I awoke and was just struck about it. I know it's not a big deal, but it still made me feel terrible and uncomfortable. I of course went to TH-cam trying to find comfort and the first video on my feed was this video. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you guys for making these great videos and giving me a sense of comfort.
But in regards to the video, I'm not really a fan of the Daytona. Regardless maybe I should get on the list and sell it for a small profit just to make the market wobble.

Michael, go back to your AD if it’s been a while, they may be more accommodating. I got the call last week for the Air-King I wanted two days after going into an AD cold without purchase history. Another local AD has a 2-tone Sub for sale in the case…not exhibition.
Agree this is one of the best Daytonas, but there are soooooo many other watches I would buy before it. Not even the best chronograph imo either. Im good with my ALS and Zeniths

The Mohs scale rates the hardness of metals. 1 - 10 soft to hard. Platinum is rated as harder than gold. 4-4.5 and gold is 2.5 - 3. Steel is also rated about the same as platinum. How this translates to scratch resistances is anyones guess. Titanium is a 6, but if you’ve ever owned a titanium watch you know what a scratch magnet it can be.
Nice move throwing your name on a Daytona -HOWEVER, Platinum is actually HARDER and more dense than gold - in fact, so much harder and more difficult to mill, that making platinum watches require completely different tools, milling platforms and processes.

I’ve heard something like that before. And it’s one of the reasons it’s hard to polish too, it essentially starts “melting” instead of polishing.

Nice move throwing your name on a Daytona -HOWEVER, Platinum is actually HARDER and more dense than gold - in fact, so much harder and more difficult to mill, that making platinum watches require completely different tools, milling platforms and processes.
