- Why don't we have an official VR Harry Potter game yet?! Can you imagine how cool it would be to visit Hogwarts Castle in VR, or fly around on broomstick, or physically cast spells by flicking our wrists in specific directions or motions... it would be AMAZING. Sadly we aren't there yet but we DO have Hogwarts Legacy VR thanks to the UEVR mod and this is an incredible VR open world experience that comes pretty close to giving us the ultimate Harry Potter VR game. Hogwarts Legacy VR is one of the most immediately impressive VR experiences I've had with the UEVR mod so far, it looks absolutely gorgeous, runs really well and works great in third or first person. It's also a believable open world with plenty of quests, NPCs, random encounters and side quests to pursue, so you could get lost in this VR Harry Potter environment for hours and hours if you were a big fan of the franchise.
All Hogwarts Legacy VR gameplay was captured on a 4090 VR ready PC with a Quest 3 hooked up via USB C cable, the game is running on max settings with DLSS set to quality. This works so well the game devs should create a fully VR port, this looks amazing
it's impossible due to coding for VR is extremely difficult cos they must re-setup multi environment and revert program language, that's why most of games not in VR

@@Snack.Dragon im a game developer AND tbh I dont know wym with IMPOSSIBLE, If what you mean is that the original developers are not going to invest resources and time in developing a VR port, that is possible, but making the port itself is not impossible.
This is what people want, not glorified tech demos but actual fully playable games in VR.

@Resilience93 An adult who grew up reading Harry potter, yes. A child wouldn't get as emotional as an adult who grew up reading it, plus that technology wasn't around at the time so it's been years of wanting, this wouldn't mean half as much to most kids

Have you played Asgard Wrath 1 on PC? Not really open world but it is great and made specifically for VR
I prefer single player but for who like to play online it would be amazing!
MMO, VR and have it be more interactive as a VR game. Like reciting the spells and haveing to do correct handmovements.

I want this on PSVR2....even just a section of the game...an exploration and combat section to cast the spells....and maybe the intro of the game...the intro is incredible for this game.

1) there IS a separate quidditch game coming out very soon
2) you CAN go to Azkaban but you have to be a Hufflepuff and it's a very short cinematic with a hallway you walk down to talk to someone
I am not a big Harry Potter fan but I can purely feel how absolutely amazing this must be for fans. Crazy
If they were to do a sequel, I'd love a second map that includes Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley, King's Cross Station and maybe the Ministry of Magic, maybe with muggle areas in between, where the use of magic is not allowed, really leaning into the whole secretive aspect of the wizarding world. A plot that involves the Triwizard Tournament would be dope. Don't know if the lore lines up with that being a possibility though.

I have a rtx2070 and so far it works great with uevr. I’m playing jedi fallen order and even if it’s not perfect, it’s still great. I also played deliver the moon and mars, Scars above and Scorn, also great. A 4090 is not necessary
just go play it. ryzen 5 with a radeon rx 580 and i have very little issues usually with stuff. you dont need to steal nasas computer
You should make a video of full VR set up for this game. Hiding character parts, controllers and uevr set up

This looks utterly incredible! UEVR is like a gift from on high! All I need now is a PC from the future then I can try it!
If the devs don't make a native VR version of this, they're just missing a trick. It's a game (or at least concept) that lends perfectly to VR. Instead of creating a character to run around after in third-person, we could be ourselves in the world, flinging magic and flying about... it's just a no-brainer.
However, if they are too stubborn not to, then it's so good to know that this is a viable option. I am so hoping that the PSVR2 PC Adaptor will work with this mod. I only have that one headset atm (and can't afford anymore right now). I am very excited to try a few of these sort of things out.

the dragon thing is really rare so I can absolutely see someone playing through the entire game and never seeing it. I only saw it once after I finished the main campaign

Been wanting to do this the moment I started playing this game and forgot to look into a VR mod. Definitely gonna try this as soon as possible. Looks awesome. And frankly, while the game is set in the Harry Potter universe and you're at Hogwarts, the story is so vastly removed from the books that anyone who simply likes magic and wand combat will enjoy it. Got a friend who's not into Harry Potter at all but bought the game as a protest against one of her favorite vtubers getting attacked for playing it. She loved it.
Omg, imagine if the VR headset had a mic that can recognize voicecomands like the spells. That way you wouldn't need the HUD you actually say the incantations like for real.

there is already a way to get to Azkaban in the base game itself, you have to be in Hufflepuff and you should get a mission in their common room on completion of the given quest line, you will get a cut scene where you Apperate directly into Azkaban Prison with a woman, trying to rescue someone who was truly innocent yet in her time in Azkaban the woman who was innocent had been driven insane and attacked the woman who brought you there, oh forgot to mention its the only time you see the spell Expecto Patronum charm.

Even without VR I think Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most beautiful games ever made. I really hope they will release proper story based sequel and improve performance (especially CPU and RAM utilization) and graphics even further thanks to unreal engine 5 new technology.

When you enter the modding scene. You will always encounter the group of people saying you need 50+ mods to make a game good. You have regular gamers who just either wants some extra QoL mods or maybe an entire new experience with a game. And then you have the constant modders. Who rarely plays a game if it isn't a game modded into a completely new game.
I think the constant modders are the ones to suggest that you need extra mods besides the VR mod to make it good. Just a gut feeling 😂

For some reason, when a game has simple mechanics that a PC gamer may get bored of too quickly, doing it in VR is so much better!

Daydreaming thought while studying XR dev: HL and HP fans seriously need a team of dedicated HP fans such as the people working on all the mods and tech specialists with a focus on the users getting the most out of the alt universe and keep making better games like this. AR and VR experiences too could use an update, could be a lot of fun to be had. A universe - mesh filter of the two worlds once the tech improves. I'm in UX and UI design working on my XR dev certifications, and who knows, maybe it'll be in the cards someday to work on such a project for portkey games. Online classes can suck but meeting up in a Virtual space like Hogwarts for classes could make it a lot better if life had to go that way. Other Virtual variants for non-HP fans to help lower the number of trolls. Paired with AR classes for outdoor hangouts and lessons would be fun too. A Lovely addition to Portkey games products or services.
Does UEVR have something like higgs mod (from skyrim) already installed in it where you can touch things?
I really hope they will make all the game that beautiful in ps5 to Vr for the best Experience of fantastic game world , it’s no need to make it difficult with interacting surfaces in game by hand , make it simple with button

It would be awesome if they implement a way to have customise the UI elements. For instance only having the combat UI display when you come across enemies. And in this game you don't really need the mini map since you can press up on the d-pad which brings up the magic path leading you to whichever quest you are on.

I’m a little bit late. But this is amazing! And to answer your question about Dumbledores death, yes he fell to his death. No, it wasn’t there, it would be the astronomy tower court yard. But like also the games castle is very different from the movies.

You were never able to attack people in the game, NPCs have always been invincible. I think you may be thinking of one of the older Harry Potter games where Harry could pick fights with people in the halls.

Ahhh I would love to try it! Although my severe arachnophobia would kill me when encountering spiders..! It already took me a month to be able to fight them in the normal game play 😅
Been holding off on UEVR, Red Dead and GTAV VR until a more next gen headset came out. Looks like now is the time with the Pimax Crystal Lite shipping. Can't wait.
The thumbnail got me but I was blown away by how great it looks and how it actually runs that I didn't realize just how much I'd be willing to look into a VR setup if I got to play Hogwarts Legacy like this! Give me Infinadeck support so I can feel like I am actually in combat and spell casting that will be sell me :D

Seem like its possible that it might have been better if Valve hadn't come along with the hand trackers and Occulus succeeded in bringing out their original mission, the sit-down VR gaming experience. I feel like more devs would have been interested in adding VR modes to their games because they would only really need to implement a "vr view" mode that IMO would have supplied the majority of what VR has to offer with the tech available. Theres so many overweight folks that never would have been able to stand up for all the hours they normally play games for. When I realized that I felt the VR was going to have an uphill battle to become mainstream.

hopefully one day you can record your experiences and upload these for people that are watching with vr glasses and experience the same thing. it should already be possible. nvidia and amd should look into developing volumetric screen capture.
The noise you recognized as static. Did you hear it in flight too? If not it may be the running sound when you go faster than walking.

I know I sound like broken record, but this is the value of hybrids.
I wish the greater media stopped ignoring and denigrating hybrid games (and PSVR2). An entire industry is being held hostage by ideas coming out of a fraction of a fraction of the gaming population. It is embarrassingly disappointing.
We could have had official versions of these types of AAA games over the last 12 years, were it not for the idea "it needs to be made from the ground up", which has been revised to "hybrid is bad, because ground-up is better".
it's always the minority ruining it for everyone else, i think the only way vr is going to go mainstream is if all games are both vr and flatt, i love vr but there's literally not one vr game i want to play

Yeah man, there is definitely an elitist element that moans about the idea of Hybrid VR, but I truly think it's brimming with untapped potential. Especially considering these hybrid VR games look much better than most ground-up VR Games.
Exactly, there is space for hybrid VR games and vr only games, but hybrid games could turn a lot more gamers into VR withou risking a failure of a vr only game
