Thank you for all of this info - incredibly helpful! We stopped using/testing interests a few years back when FB removed a ton of them and subsequently, all of our winners. We run mostly open targeting now. What are your thoughts on subbing in LLA's for the interest targeting? Also, are you doing any creative testing during BFCM or only repurposing the past year's winners? We haven't done a lot of testing this year and have maybe 3-5 winners over the year (one of which has been running for over a year!). Thanks!
I haven't tested interests all year because open was doing better than all of them last time I tested. I've been focusing more on creative doing the heavy lifting. That being said, I made a LLA based on all of my own holiday shoppers (Nov+Dec) over the past 3 years and it did quite well. Outperformed some open targeting. I also tested out the sticky note on product that you suggested and it crushed!!! Also took me the least amount of time to setup 😂 so thank you.
Sharing the sticky note ad stats below (lla vs open - showing spend on sticky note ad only): LLA | spend: $271 | purchases: 11 | cpa: $24.71 | conversion value: $1,049.79 | roas: 3.86 Open | spend: $145 | purchases: 5 | cpa: $29.09 | conversion value: $472.54 | roas: 3.25 That's an extra ~$1,500ish in topline over the last 3 days from one ad thanks to your suggestion!! Beyond stoked! Thanks again.
hey there, this video is great and you do well in explaining yourself. Im still new to e commerce and i recently started a new store and only have the one sale :( so would this strategy be completely out of the picture for me? should i continue to set up ads the 'basic way'? and what i mean by that is what most youtubers suggest as beginners? i hope you understand what im asking hahah if not ill try explain much better. thanks!
hello, thanks you did a bunch of amazing videos .I followed you and thumb a like on your video.I want to ask a question: How to find a strong interest? I've not found your video talk about this. And you never talk about test interests.Thank your very much.
Hey Sam! We really want to test your strategies out on a new adds account sort of like an a/b test. Is there any way to import customer data from our existing adds account into the new one and can we connect the same pixel to more than one account? would love to hear your thoughts on this. Lots of love.
you can’t directly import customer data from one ad account to another, but you can upload your data as a custom audience in the new account. as for the pixel, yes, you can share the same pixel across multiple accounts by assigning it through business manager. what kind of a/b test are you planning?
Had a few questions that I have: 1) does this strategy also work for lower budgets like $100/day across those campaigns instead of $1000/day? 2) how long should we keep the campaigns on if the ROAS are low to begin with like around 0.4-0.5? Do we wait till the campaigns are more optimized or do we just stop them after 3 days if they did poorly? For us it does well one day, then sucks for 2 days, and then better again on 4th day
Hey good questions. 1. I would run only ASC if I had $100 to spend. Keep it simple. 2. Personally I would give everything 5-10 days before adjusting and just focus on new creatives
Hey Sam such a gold content as always. We are following your strategy accurately, launched yesterday our brand, 1 CBO prospecting campaign at 150 daily and day one we got 3.2 roas, consider our BEP is 1.48 roas. As usually we know that a cbo should perform better by the time it seems you promising? also after how much time you would start increasing the budget?
Awesome to hear, congrats on the hot start. For a totally fresh start I would keep your budget flat just for a few days and consider increasing it every 2-3 days after that. Dont wory about the increments.
Hey Sam I have 2 questions I would be grateful to you if you answer them: Should we turn off our best-performing ad set from the prospecting campaign once we run it on the ASC campaign for scaling? Will the audiences from the ASC campaign and prospecting campaign overlap since they both expand to reach the same audience?
Hey Sam! For black friday, again if I still have a $150 budget a day. Would I still be putting 100% into ASC campaign and just put my creatives there? How do you test out creatives with just ASC?
Amazing videos Sam, just found you! I sell online courses and want to target various countries. How does the campaign/ad set structure and budget allocation change for multiple countries? Do I make separate campaigns or ad sets for each country, group countries into a few ad sets or just leave country targeting wide open? My concern of creating campaigns or ad sets for each country is there may be too many ad sets for meta to optimize and budget may be spread to thing... ---- ASC Campaign ---- Top 10 countries (40% budget) or no countries selection? Vs. USA campaign (13.3% budget) CAN campaign (13.3% budget) EUR campaign (13.3% budget) ---- Prospecting CBO Campaign ---- Broad - top 10 countries (or no countries selection?) Interest 1 - top 10 countries Interest 2 - top 10 countries Vs. Broad USA Broad CAN Broad EUR Interest 1 USA Interest 1 CAN Interest 1 EUR Interest 2 USA Interest 2 CAN Interest 2 EUR
This video should have millions of views. You are seriously doing the lords work. Totally implementing in my Black Friday Ad strategy!
how has performance been????
You deserve views in millions❤
Amazing Sam!
Thanks! Glad you liked the video. What part stood out to you the most?

Why LLA over Interest?
Ive never seen LLA outperform a solid interest since 2019
I haven't tested interests all year because open was doing better than all of them last time I tested. I've been focusing more on creative doing the heavy lifting. Not totally out of the way but its a stretch. Focus on just running 1 ASC campaign.

Use your customer information to take an informed decision. If that interest works, great, if not cut it and try another.
Hi Sam! Great video. Super helpful for BF strategy. One question. How many ads are you running during this period? I'm thinking around 8.
I appreciate you! 8 is a decent amount of ads and generally a good spot.

Hey Sam I have 2 quesiton
1. When should I turn off the ads set
2. And how long does it usually take facebook to learn my ads
1. If all ads are not working
2. Timeline doesnt matter, purely about spend vs aov.
Hey Sam I have 2 questions I would be grateful to you if you answer them:
Should we turn off our best-performing ad set from the prospecting campaign once we run it on the ASC campaign for scaling?
Will the audiences from the ASC campaign and prospecting campaign overlap since they both expand to reach the same audience?
NEVER pause what is working. yes they will overlap, doesnt matter as your are running broad to 300mil+ people (if operating in the USA)
Hey Sam! For black friday, again if I still have a $150 budget a day. Would I still be putting 100% into ASC campaign and just put my creatives there? How do you test out creatives with just ASC?
Yes for the most part just an ASC. If you are running sale creatives then you can create a second ASC that only runs during the sale.
Hi Sam, what if those winning ads are not performing well in ASC and performing well in CBO? Do you turn them off in ASC?
What are you defining as performing well?
@SamPiliero high spending, high roas. It seems like CBO performing better than ASC. How do you solve this case?
How do you recommend adding in my ads into these campaigns? Does duplicating your existing well performing ads work, or should I start from scratch?
Keep whatever is working active. Duplicate the best and BFCM specific creative into new campaigns.

---- ASC Campaign ----
Top 10 countries (40% budget) or no countries selection?
Vs.
USA campaign (13.3% budget)
CAN campaign (13.3% budget)
EUR campaign (13.3% budget)
---- Prospecting CBO Campaign ----
Broad - top 10 countries (or no countries selection?)
Interest 1 - top 10 countries
Interest 2 - top 10 countries
Vs.
Broad USA
Broad CAN
Broad EUR
Interest 1 USA
Interest 1 CAN
Interest 1 EUR
Interest 2 USA
Interest 2 CAN
Interest 2 EUR
If you are just starting out i would just group this all together.
@SamPiliero appreciate the reply. will reach out if I need asisstance scaling. enjoying your vids 🙌 -robin
Attribution on 1-day-view is negligent
Agreed. Keep it in to inform the pixel but dont ever make decisions off of it.
