Done about 50 miles in my Speed 4 so far. Yesterday I did one of my normal easyish 10K road runs with a bit of towpath with a 4 on left foot and a 3 on the other which both had done similar amount of miles. Almost immediately I could not really tell any difference. Yes about 15-20g weight increase for us in a UK 13 but did not feel lob sided as it were. Little better midfoot lockdown in the 4 with the lace loops and perhaps a fraction more room in toebox. I thought the 3 might just a little bit softer when I tried a shorter A-B test but after this longer A-B test not so sure. I did have a bit of heel blister and am always a bit wary of the heel on the Speed 3/4 as don't find the material they use the best but fortunately it has not got any worse last few runs in a 3 or 4 on same foot. Speed has effectively been my daily trainer for 4 years now as for us it is about the weight of a "plush plodder" for everybody else and mostly I don't feel I need alll that cush. So yeah thumbs up but it's not a massive update as you say. Will try and do a video myself this week. This and the Novablast 3-4 found difficult to say much as felt both pretty similar to the respective 3.
Why would you buy a shoe that is £15 more expensive and heavier than last years model ?
Yeah there seem to of been some low key updates on some recent models like the novablast and these... small tweaks. I understand the "if it aint broke dont fix it" idea but also I guess we, as a consumer, sometimes expect magic with every new update!
@@andrewood I did at least find a 10% off code but yeah if can find a Speed 3 at a good price then worth considering. In a way this just felt like buying another Speed but at least this is a shoe I am getting a lot of use out of.
I absolutely loved the 3 and my 4s are coming next week I can’t wait, top video as always
Hi Andy, thanks a lot for your views. Speed range is my go-to, the most versatile running shoe, for training not racing, but I agree also can imagine to race in Speed. Speed 2 looks to me faster a bit compared to 3, but love both. I've got 3 pairs of Speed 3 and looking forward to trying Speed 4. I was on Sunday on my long run, 26K, 1K tempo and 1K Moderate 13 reps and was in Speed 2 and enjoyed it. All te Best with your training for London marathon!
Super Peter, that sounds like a good workout! They are good at handling those sorts of paces for sure! Thank you
Love your reviews you can tell you have put the miles in the shoes.😊
Ah Claire thanks so much, that’s way to kind 🙏 thank you
I appreciate your thoughts. I'm thinking about pairing a plated trainer with a lightweight trainer later this year. I've thought about the Speed 4 but I'm also hoping to compare to a Magic Speed 4. Likely to pair with the Hyperion 2 when that is released.
You hit the point. I also found at the Speed 3 that after a few kilometers my heel was uncomfortable and was rough and somehow the sole became softer. Iam looking now for Speed 4.
Still love the Speed 3, but they do lack the ‘pop’ I got with the 2’s. I look forward to trying out the 4’s when I can.
Almost at 500km in my threes, so perfect timing to pick up a pair of fours for spring/summer.
Great review. I love the Speed 3s, so will take some convincing to upgrade to version 4, especially as the Speed 3s are on big discount at the moment.
you can’t get the 3s now well not in a size 10 looked everywhere
I couldn’t find any UK sized 11 so went for the version 4. Will be trying out tomorrow.
Es muy difícil encontrar los 3.
Ya no hay stock en las tallas normales 😢
I'm 6"3 190lbs. I'm on my third pair of Speed 3s. I use them for my speed sessions and long run workouts for marathon training. The comfort for me is better on the 3 than previous models. The key for me when wearing the Speed 3 for longer durations is making sure my foot strike is consistent later in n workouts and long runs. When you get tired the legs kind of want to land flat footed almost. If I could implement one improvement in the Speed it would be to add a touch more foam in the forefoot. I think it's pointless to add a chunk of foam in the heels of shoes.
Great review. My problem with the Speed 3 was indeed it got mushy after an hour or so. I did not feel it when the shoe was new but with time.. Triumph 20 also got much softer in the forefoot after a couple of hundred kilometres. I think the problem with the PEBAX in beeds form is that it get mushy over time..
I see it as an advantage

Love the speed 3, use it for almost everything, grip is its downfall. Hopefully, this is better 🤞
I hope they’re good because I have a pair on the way!
So far, so good!
Morning Andy. Big fan of the Speed range, they take the bulk of my marathon work. So I'll be looking to pick up another pair of 3s on discount before taking the plunge on the 4s. I'm interested to see what they've done with the Pro's - will they dumb them down now that the Elites are their premium race shoe? Looking forward to your thoughts when you have given them a blast.
Yeah its a mix of PWRRUN HG and PWRRUN+ in the pro 4, I am very excited, I have my first session coming this weekend so will give them a blast then
Endorphin Speed went downhill from the Speed 2 Runshield version onwards for me. Puma Deviate Nitro 2 way better for slower longer “daily trainer” miles and Adidas Boston 12 blows it out of the water for faster tempo’s and long runs. Sad to say as loved the Speed 1.
Loved 1&2, tried to like 3 but it had lost its magic, was hoping 4 would revert back to its former greatness. R u not running Bourton this year?
Seems like I did well just getting the 3 on discount
Given the heel lift issues I have experienced in Speed V1 and V3, sounds like V4 won't be much different. Which limits how I can comfortably use the shoe. Think I'm finally done with Saucony shoes since their heels just don't work for me. Given how amazing Asics heels have been lately (Nimbus 25, Novablast V3) I think it's time I try a pair of Magic Speed V3 and hope the heels are similar to other Asics shoes.
Might be worth a try for sure, I loved my magic speed 2 and I heard the 3 are better!
I finally just got a pair of the Speed 3's! They were a bday gift, discounted, and Tokyo Edition. So I'm pretty stoked about them. The colorway is awesome! I'll be wearing them for my marathon and I think they'll be great for that distance. They're not a shoe I'd wear for shorter distances though, as I have a couple of carbon plated racers I prefer to use for 10km and half marathon races. I'll have to get a pair of Speed 4's at some point, but probably not until the fall. Great review, Andy!
I saw on instagram, loved the colourway! Hope you get some great use out of them!
Good morning. ¡¡¡¡Saucony for ever!!!!. . Like to Andy. Have a good training day.
Put my v2's on today for a workout. Gotta leave the 3's at home
If the 4 is more firm than the 3, then I will buy.
Honestly? I wish they’d just kept the Spped 2 and changed the colour every year. Bought the 3s with great anticipation and, for me, hopeless, painful heel, and totally uninspiring, so hardly used. Should sell them I suppose. The good news I guess, we’re all different.
I had the painful heel too in the speed 3 😞
Hi Andy. Out of interest, for long marathon paced runs - maybe 10-15 miles. Would you opt for this or the Zoom Fly 5? I know you liked that one… thanks
Yeah they were decent and I used those previously for that type of effort for sure... I would choose these over the ZF5 though
@@TheFODRunner that’s great, really appreciate your opinion, thank you.
Good review but the sound quality really suffers from the echo
Yeah I had to move from my normal location due to new flooring being laid outside our office... the noise of the workmen was too much!
I took my Pro 4’s out again the other day and it was wet and they were quite slippery!
Disappointing, but kind of expected when it comes to Saucony shoes. I ran in the Pro 3 a few weeks ago, when it was practically dry outside. The asphalt was fine, but I was sliding around like crazy on the only slightly damp pavements.
Oh no, really?! thats not good!
I have 3 pairs of Speed 3's and one has no heel rubbing at all, one a little bit and one gives me blisters at the heel above an hour of running ...
It is a serious Saucony issue that needs to be addressed, because it is too random, so you won't know if a pair gives that problem, before you have tested it for longer than an hour.
Other runners in my runninggroup have the same problem.
On the pair that gives the most problems, I bent the heel counter to its maximum and fixated it in that position when I don't run in them, makes a slight temporary difference.
If anyone else knows a solution, like making a cut in the counter or something, please tell me.
Glad its not just me that suffered with this!
Andy are the Boston 12 good for 10k road races or what do you recommend
I havent tried the bostons sadly! If you arent looking for a carbon plated racer then these or the hyperion max would be my choice for a road race. I have actually used the speed 2 on a trail race around here before, they were ace!
@@TheFODRunner Andy I have the Adidas Adios Pro3 for halfs. But looking for a carbon plate shoe for 10k can you advise. Also what are Endorphin speed 3 best for ?
@@davidpearson6011 I’d prefer the next% for 10ks or even the endorphin pro 3, I find them a bit more aggressive. The speeds are just a training shoe, anything from moderate paces up to workouts!
Does it protect your Hips, knees and ankles? and if I choose Adidas Boston 12, Puma Deviate Nitro 2, and Saucony Endorphin Speed 4 which should I pick better and why?
I tried the Boston 12’s and the Speed 4’s. The Speed 4’s won as the Bostons were horrid!
tell me more why horrid on the Adidas Boston 12. elaborate your experience.@@julieburton7393
@@julieburton7393 I thought I was the only one on the planet who absolutely hated the Boston 12. I've had other shoes that didn't agree with me, but I actually regret buying the Boston.
I havent tried the boston sadly or the nitro 2... only the nitro elite 2! But I find these to be quite stable with the winged nylon plate and wide base... the only thing is the midsole foam is on the softer side so if you need a bit of stability they might be a touch soft
Do you think they are suitable for the sub 3h marathon? weight 69kg
Absolutely! The pro 4 is the racing version though but if you don’t fancy that then the speeds would happily do the job!
It's a no for me. I think the boston 12 is getting bought asap.
This or the Noosa Tri? Hmm
Ah that's a shame. I loved my speed 1 and the speed 3 really let me down. Bring back the speed 1
So versions 1 & 2 were in a league of their own…!
I kind of said it didn’t i 😬
😄
How much do you weigh?
Interesting that you mention achilles issue w 3s. The top of the heel pointed inward too much and was too stiff w that reflective piece which cause me massive soreness. I wonder if the 4 is any better. Looks slightly different material.
I had the first version and was underwhelmed.
Wow! Not many people didnt enjoy v1! Totally understandable though, they were quite niche in a way, very streamlined, firmer and aggressive
@@TheFODRunner that's the great thing about running shoes - there's usually a pair out there that will suit just you. In that sense, it's very idiosyncratic. I enjoyed your detailed review though.
BUYER BEWARE! Shoes cause severe blisters on top of feet! Bought proper size. Customer service does not care post sale! Never Again!
Sorry to hear this!
What would you choose - them or adidas adios pro 3?
