The wing design was already in version 3. V3 is a stable shoe. On another note, I really hope that Pro 4 will work for me as Pro 3 is my favourite long run
acing shoe ever. The only plated shoe my plantar fasciitis can tolerate and it's so comfortable. I think both Speed 3 and Pro 3 are much better looking shoes than V4. I'm not crazy about the new design to be honest. Looking forward to seeing your review on the Pro 4.
This is a new plate design have a look
Speed 4 much better looking IMO. I have the all orange ones. As Fordy says much better upper and more pep imo. I haven't been able to fully test them yet due to ankle issues.
@@Fozzee.1970 Might be very different (the look) when holding them in hands. Sounds promising in terms of upper and pop. Cheers!
@@FordyRuns Didn’t know just saw the wing plates and thought it’s the same as for Speed 3.
They appear to be toning down the shoes from previous versions to make clear differences from speed/pro/elite.
Loved the speed 3s. Your comments are spot on. This shoe can do it all. I liked it for the value proposition compared to more limited use and more aggressive carbon plated shoes. I’ve had mine on for relatively easy runs of 5 min/km, half marathon race at 4:35/km and 2k intervals at 3:45/km and this shoe handles everything with ease. With the improvements made to the 4 Saucony has knocked it out of the park
Superblast or Speed 4? What ya reckon Sir? Sounds like an almighty matchup that 1
Saucony are knocking it out of the park in the endorphin range this year (and last year for that matter). Very interesting that the Pro4 is much cheaper than their super shoe competitors. Hats off to them for bucking the £££ trend.
100%
Pro 4 isn't their top of the range Supershoe which is why. Endorphin Elite takes that crown. They've positioned the Pro 4 as the everyday runners supershoe now IMO
I follow your suggestion with the Adidas Boston 12 and freaking love that shoe so I guess I will order the speed 4. Thanks for the review.
Glad it worked out thanks for the support
Is boston 12 for you true to size? Why it’s so long for me if true to size.
Mind fit true to size
It seems all but one of the answers is in on the Speed 4, and all that's left is seeing how the shoe is after 200 miles. That last question is did the Speed 4 drop the ball on durability, because the Speed 3 carried that ball well. In the mean time, I've snatched up a few more pair of Speed 3s on sale, so I can wait patiently for that final answer. Also, my Boston 12s arrive today and I can't wait to try them on for the first time. Aside from the shoe prices, it's a great time to be a runner. So many fantastic shoes! Thanks for the review Fordy!
lets see re durability. like i said the outsole is alot better
The outsole looks fantastic for sure. If this is a 300+ mile shoe, Saucony simply slayed it.
Hey Fordy. I completely agree with you. I am in love with this shoe the speed 1 was my 🐐… I did realise though that it was unstable and I rolled my ankle plenty of times with it 🤣 I had no issues with the 3 but it felt muted. The 4 as you say blends the best bits of 1/2 with 3 to create this fantastic shoe. 15 miles fresh out of the box were a dream!
Right on
Agree better than 3 and more stable than 1
I got around 600 miles out of my Speed 3's before I shelved them. Outsole was still intact at that point, the foam had just lost enough bounciness that my knees were starting to hurt post-run. They were also my first road marathon shoes.
I hope the new design for the outsole is more grippy. I noticed my saucony's in general don't do well on slicker asphalt when its wet (like a walking path)
It is
same, the moment it lost it's bouncy feeling, it's time to retire it.
Hi everyone. Kelvin Kiptum is dead. A bad news for the runner's world.
Sad news
Well, that video just cost me £162.....cheers Fordy mate. Lol.
Sorry!
All good, coming from my Clifton 9, which are okay for those plodding runs and with a bit of wear still them, I needed something for those slightly pacier sessions anyway, there's nowt in the Clifton 9's for that type of speedier sessions, and as comfy as the Clifton 9's are as a solid plodder, I figured that having something in the rotation for days that I wanted to pick up the pace a touch was much needed anyway, so your review on the Speed 4 was actually incredibly useful, very grateful to you.@@FordyRuns
Sounds like it's a solid shoe. I wasn't a big fan of the speed 3 mainly because it didn't really have much speed. If this one's better, then it can only be a good thing as the 3 was comfortable enough.
Yep
The speed 2 was my fave. Felt racer like
this takes some of that
Thks Fordy, already got Boston 12, so will get this one as well 👍
Enjoy it
I still think the speed 2 is the best version of this shoe
Not even a contest mate. They made is too good I think. 👍
it was but this takes some of that
I tried the early REI release and found it to be the same as the 3 to be honest. the feeling of running on a tight rope isn't there still. @@FordyRuns
I've only got 300 miles in my second pair of Speed 3s and managed 650 in the first. Hopefully the price will have come down a bit by the time they need replacing! Then again, I now want a pair! Your review echoed what BITR said - It's like the Speed 2 and Speed 3 had a baby and you get the best of both!
Brilliant review, as always. I’m guessing you would recommend getting the new speed 4 over the speed 3’s?
Yep the 4 is better
Biten the bullet ordered these with your code cheers .Only had my size in the black & white colourway.Hopefully will have them broken in for the Battersea Park Half 9th March .
I’ve just ordered a pair from start fitness, hopefully run London marathon in them. 👍
Good luck
Now Fordy. Simple question or maybe not! Super blast or speed 4???
Loved the Speed 2's (I still have 3 pairs!). Like the Speed 3's. Don't really need any more shoes but these certainly look interesting.
Cheers for the review, the speed 2 was the best shoe and I still run in it now.
I'm retiring my Speed 2 after 850 km, now I bought the Speed 4 as the replacement.
V3 was a total flop for me. V2 was incredible!! So God knows about this one 😂
its a good combo of both
Had first run in these today, great feeling shoe, but had a massive blister on right heel, felt like the plastic inside heel rubbing, locked the laces but must be some movement still, any ideas to stop this please???
Assuming the heel pocket is still very hard on the inside, the heel collar padding is minimal, and the back of the heel pocket is very straight from bottom to top? Basically, a heel lift shoe like most Saucony versions? They all start fine on a run, but once I get 10-12km in, if i'm doing any amount of pace or elevation changes the heel lift always starts. The Speed 3 started out lovely, but I think the stretchy upper and laces also contributed to the heel lift after 45-60mins of running. Latest Adidas shoes do the samething, but their heels are even worse for lift. Thankfully, I have found that Asics heels (Nimbus 25 and Novablast V3) work amazing, for me. Might be time to snag a Superblast before they are gone to help get me through 2 marathons this year.
I just wish I had normal feet! LOL
Great vid...
Saucony Pro4 or adios pro3 for marathon day 🤔
This is the problem 🤣
Ha, for that price, I would rather invest it on another pair of super blasts, 🤷🏻♂️🙈
I loved V3, so excited to get my hands, or feet, on this shoe! Planning on running my marathon in them in April.
Great review as always Chris.
One question: Speed 4 or Kinvara Pro?
these for everyday - kinvara for long runs (and stability if racing)
@@FordyRunsare the Kinvara pro more stable than speed 4?
Do you know the changes in the plate from V3. Absolutely love the speed. Probably my favourite shoe the last few years.
yes the design has changed especially in the winged design
@@FordyRuns Didn't the 3 also have a winged design? I've heard that added some tension to the front of the plate to give a little extra propulsion. Plus they added a more propulsive sock liner.
I’m still tossing up between these and the new rebel
V4, will you be reviewing them soon fordy?
if NB ever send them through!!
I have tried many pairs of the v 3. Straight from the box, as soon as I put them on I felt pressure around the arch area in the right shoe. Never decide to keep it and send them back. I'm wondering will the v4 be better? as i alwayes wanted a pair of Saucony Endorphin Speed's.
See how they are
I'm actually the same , tried v3 and the winged plate on the right arch was too irritating literally put them straight back in the box and sent them back on the same day. Now the pro 3 are probably my favourite running shoes they feel amazing. Am either going to buy another pair or the pro 4 but waiting on the English youtubers reviews , mist have goid things to say about it but I've also seen someone say they as less aggressive and not as fast plus I think they weight more maybe.
Good morning. !!! Saucony for ever!!!!. Like to Fordy. Have a nice monday.
You too!
This shoe is drop dead gorgeous
My speed 2's just fitted like a glove from the off but are now falling apart with near 500 miles on them. I skipped the 3's but with reviews like this it sounds like Saucony are on to a winner with the 4's! I'm never going to be an elite runner so do I really need supershoes!? I have Adios pro 3's but getting them on and off is a faff to say the least. I've no doubt the Speed 4's will be more than capable at helping me through the sort of paces I can run at!
The one biggest criticism of Saucony I have is how inconsistent the toe box design is from model to model. For example, you can't buy a Speed 3 and expect to have the same toe box fit in the Pro 3 or or even the Elite, you can't move across their line of shoes and expect the same fit and sizing. Incredibly frustrating designers need to be fired.
I'm one of the unfortunate few who had bad blisters on achilles at the very top of the collar with the speed 3. Can anyone (who had this issue, or not) comment on whether or not the speed 4 has a softer/lower/differently shaped collar? No issues with the speed 2. Thanks!
Something i noticed is on the bottom of the medial side the foam goes straight under the arch. On the lateral side it is a slight curve. Strange I've not seen this on a shoe before i assume its for stability on the medial side. I agree with you on the weighting feel more biased towards the back. I feel at slower paces i am not feeling the drop like in previous versions. It's like you have to put more effort in lifting the heel.
at slower speeds for sure
@@FordyRuns it's almost like it places you on your heels. I'm a bit worried this might not be good for my stiff ankles but we will see when I get get more miles in.
Bought a pair and felt instantly comfortable. Heel felt great. Ran a race today felt great .
It's in the collection might hold off buying a pair of carbons
Hi, good vid as usual! Do you think the Endorphin Speed 4 is cushioned enough for us heavy runners ( 225 lbs) or should I go for something else?
Might be too soft
@@FordyRuns Any shoe you would reccomend instendig?
I'm 225 too. What other shoes have you worn? I think it's perfectly cushioned enough.
@@Fozzee.1970 I haven’t worn any Carbon or plated shoes before. Do most of my running in my Superblasts.
Great shoe got 2 easy paced runs in them up to now and loving them. 😊
Great to hear!
Just ordered from Start Fitness, can’t wait to lace them up. Thanks for the review
Interesting. Is the fit similar to v3? I can't put my finger on why but that one never quite fitted me as I hoped.
Quick question for you mate. I have a brand new, boxed pair of Speed 3s. Are the 4s much better? Really want a pair but if there isn't a huge difference I'll stick with the 3 for now
Fordy when is the pro 4 revoew out this week or next? Trying to decide wether i buy another pair of pro 3 as i really like running in them and want to have them as a daily or buy pro 4 but heard they are not as aggressive and slightly heavier. Though im loving the new outsole .
Wednesday
Managed to get them for 139 sending to Saudi where is tax free
Comfy shoe however I am getting hotspots so think it will be getting returned. Any tips to stop these? Great reviews :)
Lacing and socks
Huge fan of every version of the speed so far but don’t think you can get the speed 4 over the Boston 12 when adidas are a regularly selling that for under £120
i prefer these
Would these be suitable for a sub-2hr Half Marathon? Looking at an average of 5:02/km over the course.
It’s as fast as V1/2 then saucony will get all of my money 😅 (again 😂)
It feels it
Was waiting for this one to drop. What have you done Fordy, now I need to get the Speed 4 🤣.
Can people in the USA use the Start Fitness code?
Hi Chris, Superblast or Speed 4? 😬
Tough call prob go superblast
@@FordyRuns haha they are still untouchable. 👍
why? @@FordyRuns I'm curious about that shoe as well. Just more comfortable, or is it nimbler?
Great video Chris, this is usually a must buy for me but I am trying to pare back the shoe buying this year and have just been offered a pair of very low mileage Alphafly 1's at £90 so that's where my money is going this time but I'll get around to a pair of Speed 4's at some point this year!
Bargain at £90
Just picked up speed 3 yesterday at equiv usd 90. Love the stability. Gonna wait till they drop the price of speed 4.😅
make sense! enjoy SP3
Awesome review Fordy. Mine arrived today. Can’t wait to get out in them tomorrow. Loving the new look of the outsole and with it being a bit greasy on the roads here in Blighty Cambridge I can’t wait to see how it performs
Let me know
Hi , does the grip still slip when wet,🤞not?
How is it after 18 miles? Speed 3 felt mushy around 18 miles to me.
no probs in the shoe to report so far
Do you think this would be a good Marathon shoe?
Yeah
Which is more better Adidas Boston 12, Puma Deviate Nitro 2 or Saucony Endorphin Speed 4?
Wait til tomorrow 🤣
nice haha waiting for that review... @@FordyRuns
@@DP-no1ny why, any bad experience with the adidas boston 12? Pls elaborate
Love the Boston 12 ,but I found Speed 3 to soft and gave me hot spots in both feet. I didnt think these two were in the same category
These are soft
@@FordyRunsnot as soft as Version 3 imo
How would it work for a heel striker compared to the V3?
yes
It’s the first shoe I haven’t had to use a runner’s knot in a while.
Love the laces
Is the outsole material the same as on the triumph?
XT900
im buying these to wear as an everyday casual shoe to walk around in. jeans tshirt that kind of thing. i just really like comfortable shoes. retro stuff hurts my feet. awesome review mate even though im not a runner.
Thank you
I personally wouldn't wear these for walking in there are far better trainers for that.
Get a nimbus 26 or a hoka Clifton or a brooks ghost max if ur not much into running. I mean these shoes can be a daily , running casually if needed , gym all in one.
Front rocker less than V3 ❓
It's different. You can feel the plate more.
I thought this was 236 grams size men’s 9 ?
can only give what my scales say for my UK9.5
@@FordyRuns Arrh ok that makes sense sorry I thought u might have been a 9, thanks for the reply.
Is the durability looking as good as the previous versions ? That's a key for me when I purchase a daily trainer. Hopefully this topic will be covered in later reviews.
I would hope it’s better the outsole is fab
How does it compare to the Superblast?
Completely different feeling shoe.
In what way? @@Fozzee.1970
What’s the width like do they do a wide ?
no sizing issues for me
They will offer this shoe in wide. Wides might not be available until April depending on where you live.
thb saucony are mugging us off, in american its $169.95, so £180 is a con. i'll stick with adidas out of principle
