this sounds like kind of a speedy marathon prep. It will be very interesting to see, how it works out........Newport 2025 2:35 is the writing on the wall.....it will be all about staying healthy over the winter and not getting any cold or other infections. Enjoy the speed summer finale
Nice. My wife is training for Chicago. She's been trying out the Jack Daniels 2Q program, and started training back in April (for a 26-week program). Her previous marathon used a program from a guy called Tom Fleming that was also 26 weeks, and worked pretty well I thought. 26 weeks starts to seem fairly lengthy compared with most blocks I hear of, but we've found they're great to ease into the marathon. They also tend to incorporate 10k races and half marathons into the block.
Nice! Yes the first phase of those longer plans tend to be laying the foundation ready for the longer work... its a slow and steady build that, if the athelte can stay injury free, can be really beneficial!
Just needed to Say Andy that the sound quality on your post (when you are not out in the rain) is always clear with pleny of volume .. I know its off topic .. but something which is often overlooked .
@@TheFODRunner that was my 1st ever marathon last year. Weather was good and the scenery was epic. Did Newport earlier this year and got a 45 minute PB. A lot of hill sessions planned leading up to the Eryri marathon.
Great video! Also running Abingdon in October. I have two 10Ks coming up (local running club this Sunday then Saucony London 10K) at which I'l try to PB and hit sub45. Once I've done that (fingers crossed) I'll start the training block for Abingdon. I ran Brighton in 3:54 in April, so will be hoping to improve on that and have another marathon PB this year. Secretly aiming for sub3:45!
You should look at the kendal mint refillable gels, I loved maurten but find these really good, the caffeine version don't taste as chemically as the maurten
Question: I want the best training program for 5k to 1st Marathon. I've run numerous 5k's (a couple of 10k's) over the last 12 months. What program do you recommend? I live in Wyoming, USA. I love your videos! Also which shoes do you recommend when running on dirt/gravel roads?
When is your marathon? If you have time, I would do a half marathon program first to build a really solid foundation, before moving to the marathon! If your marathon is in the Fall, then maybe check out a beginner marathon plan from Hansons - shop.hansons-running.com/content/training-plans thats always a good place to start!
I hadn’t planned too, but I’m happy too! I don’t know London too well so don’t know the best spots to meet post race…. I’ll be hanging around for a couple of hours though before heading home

Thanks Thomas… yes it’s definitely going to be different…. I’m exciting for Newport next year as well!

I really want to this year... I keep trying to make it work every year and each time, it clashes with something... so hopefully it wont this year!
Hi Andy. You work with Will for the next Marathon?
Not with this block buddy no, still chat to him though 👊
