A friend of mine did a challenge sort of similar to this. He said he was going to show everyone how you can eat at 5 Star Restaurants for Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner without spending a single dollar. I thought he was crazy, but he was confident and said it can be done.
I can't wait to tell you guys how it all turned out! He's currently in Fulton Correctional Detention Center in Missouri. I'm sure it's not related to his challenger. Lol

But I’ve been involved a little bit in farms that deal with the healthy alternatives. I work on pipelines and the crap we went through to go through their farms was unbelievable. As I told the crew, no one f-ks up while working here.

@@aye7928 yeah that kinda just helps their question. It has a higher cost of living too and not everyone can afford that. There are people who legit dont have $7 to spend and sometimes cant even spend $1 a day who live there, and I'm not talking about the homeless.
He could afford those free samples, because he was clean, showered and looking in good physical condition, he didn't look like a homeless and that's basically because he has a bathroom, a bedroom and a kitchen, deodorant and nice clothes and that cost more than food, way more than a dollar a day.

But let's be honest, free sample is made for tasting or testing for example, it's not made for someone in need. It's the same principle used when you want to buy a software, they'll give you a small period to try it, but they wouldn't let you try it for years, that's why they require your credit card information, so that you don't use a new email and ask to try it another once.
But, in the store, you can't ask people for their credit cards in order to give them samples, you just give samples. If this guy comes back everyday three or four times to ask a free sample, he'll be noticed and banned from the store. Unfortunately, homeless people, especially those with very limited access to clean lifestyle, they will be noticed rapidly and not given samples twice.
In my comment I was only trying to point out a huge bias in the experiment. That's all, I've absolutely nothing against homeless people or any human in need.

Amar Daniel I worked in a place where we offered samples, and no matter how the person looked, we gave the individual the sample. They could come everyday and we’d still give them it.

I mean, if you do more research and great budgeting, it is hard, but you can live relatively inexpensively. if you live in the city you can walk everywhere, get free food/cheap food, keep bills relatively low at minimum costs, etc...The real challenge, which is why the poverty cycle even exists, is when things go wrong, which happens to everyone. I watched a Netflix documentary of a journalist who tried to live in poverty for 30 days with his wife. They were doing great and ended up with a 200 dollar surplus after their first month....But that was before everything was paid for. They ended up 1600 in debt and spent all of their emergency money...

Yes, NYC is one of the most expensive places to live in the country. NYC rivals San Francisco and LA for the cost of renting an apartment. NYC also has special city taxes in addition to NYS taxes, so there's tax on everything you buy - including food. It's extremely expensive to own a car in NYC too. It's so impractical that a lot of people that live in NYC don't own a driver's license.

The place to live and cook your food. That's not cheap in N.Y. I expected him to be sleeping in a cardboard box under a bridge or something after spending all his money for the day, or figure out how to get a free bed at a Homeless shelter or something like that.
I think the point of this video was to get through the day (food and entertainment) on one dollar. this way he can focus the money onto the other necessities (rent, clothes, etc.)

Honestly, food is not a problem in NYC. There are lots of affordable places to eat there. The main problem is the rent, and to a lesser degree, going around the city. Subway helps, but cab rides can be quite expensive.
