Hey Nick! I was really close to buying this since I love my hx100 3s, but decided to build my own. Using the damfastfpv toothpick v2 cut to 2mm (thanks Aaron), geprc 1102 14000kv, crazybee lite 1s board, runcam nano 3. Running 450mah with ph 2.0 but will be switching to bt 2.0. Also plan to add a tiny frsky receiver as the spi receiver is kinda bad... Lol. Comes in just shy 30 grams so similar weight. Oh and the canopy is the beebrain v2. Works great!
@@NickBurnsFPV I actually found the hq t mount 65mm props seem to have a bit more thrust than the push on props. I built my own version of this quad using their frame and motors. I'm using the Beebrain canopy (as you said, it's much better) and AKK nano vtx up to 200mw. However, I'm also using a XT30 connector. I switch between GNB650 1s and GNB 300 2s batteries. On 1s I use the 65mm bi-blade props and on 2s I use HQ quad blade 40mm props. On 2s with 40mm props it is much more powerful and very smooth with great throttle resolution. I recommend it if you haven't tried it. FYI, I checked with BetaFPV and Geprc on this and the 1102 13500kv and 14000kv are both rated for 2s on 40mm props.

I love mine. I 3d printed a canopy and mounted it with metal screws( plastic ones stripped out in a crash) I have beat mine to pieces and it just keeps asking for more. I agree the 450 is too big, The tinywoop 333mah is perfect for this one.
I really love these 1s quads. They're really so much fun and you don't have to try and arrange 2 batteries in the harness. I'm also liking the yard being more open now. Good for getting straight top speed flying which is nice in-between going around obstacles. Wish I had the money for this one.
Used to have my own hx100se build using the hx100se frame, HM 1102 13500kv motors, crazybee f3 board (from the ur65 i believe), tx100 vtx with nano 3 and mob6 canopy. Flies like a dart! Unfortunately it got run over by a truck and the only parts I could salvage were the frae, two motors, and the vtx. Built a new one, a 3" 1s using the mob6 guts with the pickle frame and flywoo 1202.5 11500kv motors. Loads of fun!

The Serial DSMX version has MUCH MUCH better range than the FrSky SPI version too, so all you Jumper owners, get the DSMX version and run 11ms for a great time.
The betafpv batteries do sag pretty heavy, I found the TW and converted GNB held up better. I tend to lean towards the HQ prop as they don't fold up like the OG props do causing additional jello.
Hey nick, thanks for the review! Maybe you could try some little race gates and set up a micro track around your back yard now that tge trees are gone and you got some extra space.
Sad to say that setup and tear down time is likely going to be a no go. So often I have 30-40mins for 5-10 flights I suspect if I spent even 15mins setup I likely wouldn't fly.
Gday Nick, great review looks like a good 1s flyer, i dont really have a 1s micro all mine are 1s 2s or 2s 3s but looking to get a mobula 6 for inside that would be fun, nice flying your back yard looks very different i couldnt work out your flight pattern around your back yard as we are all use to your other standard flight path and yes you pronounced emu correct lol, like the tshirt looks cool, keep up the great work mate.👍🛸
performance wise my betafpv hx100 (2s-3s version) is bone stock and i love it. i have only modified the canopy and vtx. i went with the pyro drone tpu toohpick canopy, and added stand offs to accomidate the namelessrc D400 vtx/dvr.
I put a Meteor65 on a Eachine Reddevil frame and motors. She gets 5+ minute flights depending how hard you push it. I use longer standoff screws front and back so when you attach the 2 canopy mount points it sets on the longer screws front and back. O rubber mount on screw for canopy to rest on helps as well 😉
I also put a Meteor65 on the Microheli Mobula6 race kwad frame and for a 65mm build i love it. I have been flying er non stop for a couple weeks now and want to build a second one as back up
@@mgesmalltownaerial2840 isn't that microheli frame neat? I'm only running 19000kv motors but I want to put some 22 or 25k on it! It's surprising how well it flies. Camera mount has a bit of jello but honestly I don't mind it.
Hey Nick, first of all thanks for all your great videos, its always a pleasure to watch you zippin arround in your yard and also for the quality infos :) I also have a question, I recently started into the fpv hobby and bought myself a beta65s + some gear to get used to flying, also training on some sim. Is there a Quad you would recommend as my Next one? I was actually looking for this one but they sadly dont sell it anymore. And do you think that maybe a upgrade from brushed to a brushless whoop like the meteor65 would be worth spending 110 bucks on ? And again Nick, thanks for all your efforts.
Brushless does give us much more performance and the motor performance will be consistent over time. Brushed motors tend to wear down over time. If you are feeling fairly comfortable and fly outside I would suggest getting something without prop guards, this will have longer flight times and allow more practice. If you primarily fly inside I would look at something in the 75mm range, they are also more efficient than 65mm and will have longer flight times with very similar size and durability.
I know you removed the trees but what about a little tunnel or something you can leave out and take in when you want for that little extra bit of difficulty > power over house and then through the tunnel
big powerloops and "dives" down the trees would be something new.. oversimplified, try breakout from two dimensions into the third one.. at least that breakout into 3rd dimension is what i keep telling myself to break out of the one flightplane close to the ground with the occasional obstacles.. it opened up my spaces to also think vertikal lines.. i do like your channel and i am very impressed what you pulled off over time indoors.. - your speed increased considerably, your reviews are and always have been very nice to watch!!
Your batteries are new right?I only got 4 min in the first days of flying the HX100se. Personally I love the flying with this 1S. It's the best for the garden. I managed to hit myself in the face with it! No pain, no cut! Amazing. Of note: When the voltage sag is too intense, my board would reset mid flight. So beware. Also I've lost many motor screws over time. One should add some threadlock. Lastly I'm using a rubber now. The velcro works 6mo and then is good to be trashed.
Only the two it came with are new. The others I used are a few months old unless they are converted batteries, then they are even older. Betafpv batteries tend to be weak and sag pretty heavy.
Remember to tighten the motor screws, mine came loose on the first day and I'm still waiting for replacements because the screws are super tiny and really hard to fjnd
My 1s toothpick is the og unibody toothpick frame, prototype zeezwhoop aio fc, hyperlite 1103 12622kv motors, cm123 camera, pandarc nano400 vtx, xm+ rx and I'm using this super thin canopy I found on thingiverse and hq t65s for props, though I also really like the og whocares 65mm props alot, I think hand built quads will always be better (weather built yourself or bought from a custom builder) but that bnf seems pretty good I hope the fc holds up
Is Kanye making AIO now :). Building is better, I suspect the BNF market lives on the knowledge required to choose good/correct parts and then the building/setup process.
@@NickBurnsFPV lololololololololol no some chinese company Bob is working with on the babytooth hopefully available soon depending on post offices and all that
I could but it might stop my momentum on something this low weight. Also camera angle plays a role in the yaw spins....looks wonky with 45+ degrees camera angle.
Is there a setup guide for the HX100 SE to bind/betaflight setup and configuration? I'm going to be getting mine later today and am looking for initial instructions/guides.
With the internet being such a big place there is likely a video including setup. In general with quads they are much the same from quad to quad....radio to radio.
Well, wanted babytooth really bad, but did not want to spend 60usd just on shipping alone so i ordered this HX100 SE couple of days ago. Guess i wont notice the difference as i ll probably fly it exclusively in small park in front of my house.
There's a better variant of this using the higher kv motors from the meteor 75 and 450mah cells. Gives more flight time but still more speed if you want it
Great video ceep the work up and I wanna get into the hobby it's just I'm trying to find a budget build maybe that could be the next video you make is a budget build
I also love these 1S rippers these days.. However I would much rather be flying a babytooth, built exactly to Kabob’s suggestions.. There is something special about how that quad flies..
With NBD canopy, then you’re at a Babytooth which rules on the HQ 65 mm or Primo 1 which is a gram or two lighter than this and runs on Gemfan bull nose 65 like this . Not sure how this is better. Price is great but if you build you get premium and your choice of parts. Those batteries aren’t great either. And that connector is proprietary so you have to mod a GNB with that connector. Pain in the bottom. Build your own is where I land.
Generally building is better. I suspect there is a large portion of this hobby that doesn't either want to build or don't know what they should buy. Kinda why I asked this question in the video. Maybe they will read all the builds and take the plunge.
Since you asked....i recently modified a TinyHawk (the original) into a 1s 3 Inch quad. It uses the TH FC and canopy. Using Flywoo 1202.5 11500 kv motors, HQ 3020 props. Playlist on my channel.
@@NickBurnsFPV yes,. I cut all that off and just used the center portion as a canopy. Perhaps you could take a look. I don't want to spam , but it's on my channel fairly recent. 😉 It's a 6 video playlist, the one titled " breakdown" shows the process.
1s baby tooth!! I have Insta360 GO 1s rig video on my channel!! fpv cycle motors but I used the pickle pick frame off thingiverse and had them cut at CNCMadnes. Same FC but no rx with crossfire! I may do a crossfire HX build at 65mm
I’m with Zac... Kabab’s Babytooth with all his parts listed. Flying on Banggood 550s, getting a tad over 4min. I’m also looking at at mounting my insta360 go.. thanks again Zac.. this build is my new favorite!
@@NickBurnsFPV I reckon a big half power loop against the trees then stop it mid and dive the chimney? Wish I could just pop over for fly and see what we can rip. Always interesting when you see someone else fly in a space that you've flown 100s of times. They find new thinga straight away haha
For freestyle please do the flick turn or 180 turn where you go one way then flick the stick forward and then sideways to make your self look behind you it’s a simple trick and I shave found some quads can do it and some can’t so it would be a good tester as the better freestyle ones can do this and the less good ones can’t
Nick Burns correct or any other combo you desire you can do roll first then flip but I find that the fastest way is half front flip half right roll that way it’s like a swish of your thumb .
@@NickBurnsFPV indeed mate, BT2.0 is great for super light whoops. But for a 75mm whoop on 1S cost pushes me to the old faithful xt30... Wish we had another connector readily available, I'm really not fan of betafpv batteries. I've had a few of varied sizes and all under perform and then die quickly...
My favorite 1S build is: none! Don't like 1S - batteries don't last long enough (flight or durability). I've got a 3S Babytooth that I think I can fly anywhere I'd fly a 1S, and it's as small as a 1S Babytooth, super quiet, and more fun (according to people that have both).
@@NickBurnsFPV Yes, it's the Kabob 3S formula - Babytooth 3mm, 1303/5000kv, NamelessRC AIO412T, Eachine Nano VTx, BeeBrain V2 mount, Runcam nano3, GF3016 props, R-XSR, GNB450 3S (11.1V) - with bat 98g. The only thing not perfect is the Eachine Nano - it won't set VTx band/chan/power in BF OSD or in BF (Eachine prob with IRC Tramp protocol timing). Known problem on rcgroups, but doesn't effect all Nano's. I get great reception but have to fly on the default band/chan (can set only power with button). BF devs have a fix but won't put it in BF so they don't encourage bad HW builds. Sorry, more than you wanted to know - still venting! Almost forgot, getting 7+ min flights.
Mark Sherman.. after building my babytooth (with kabab’s specs).. I’m doing the 3” toothpick for 3s.. Nick burns, if you havnt got your hands on one of these or built one.. I HIGHLY suggest it...I’m still a noob, but it was a game changer for me..
Nick Burns I can check again I believe it’s fairly close to this but used a tpu mount on the 16x16 to hold the camera up front. Last photo I have with 1s is 44.8g on a 500mah gnB
Recently I had to switch to adobe premier. Up to about two weeks ago I used sony vegas for about 3 years. Davinci Resolve is a good full featured editor as well, and its free.
@@NickBurnsFPV ya or half roll, flip, half roll is also a rubiks I believe. Another favorite of mine is the half roll, half inverted yaw spin, half flip not sure the name on that one though or just the classic inverted yaw spin. There's so many possibilities with mixing things together.
hang a gate or 2 in a tree?! or even a gravity gate you could use to test these micros in a uniform fashion. a manufactured unit of measurement like youve done with the punch over the house. 🤙🏽
If you’re a racer maybe, as casual whoop guy I don’t care. I’ve literally never worn out battery or board connectors with the solid pin setup. Personally, it’s not justified to buy a new charger and re solder/swap my connections for negligible gains. I freestyle 1s 75mm mobulite and get 6 min of rippage. If I want more performance I grab my toothpick. To each his own 👍🏼
Try a power loop through the cubby house and land it on the top of the slide. Slide down the slide and take off before hitting the ground. Saw Mr. Steele do that trick in a video. Took him a few goes but he pulled it off.
I've been flying a Babytooth build recently with all of Kabab's recommendations except the frame where I use LeDroneClub's deadcat frame cut by CNCMadmess. I love how quiet it is. I'm flying RDQ 525mah and switched them all to BT2.0. I also modified my UPS6AC charger by replacing the JST connectors with BT2 connectors following this RCgroups post www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=43529667&postcount=265 I'm happy with the results all around for the quad and the BT2 connectors. Given the current conditions at playgrounds, a friend and I are touring the different play areas wrapped in caution tape for a fun flying experience. We figured we might as well make lemonade!
I built one, and it's quite fun. Here's the forum with other 1s toothpick formulas, check it out: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3288439-Maximizing-1S-Performance/ My build is the hx100se frame and beebrain canopy, happymodel 1102 13500kv motors, Whocares 65mm props, a crazybee f4 v2.0 FC, BT2.0 and gnb 450mah 1s batteries. It weighs 30.0 grams. I'm gonna update it to the crazybee f4 lite and the Betafpv C01 camera, and that should drop the weight into the 28's. Yes i have only been flying 1s lately. The Microheli frame is a fun kwad to fly
That shirt is looking good. Kind of nice around the guns!
Hey Nick,
first of all thanks for all your great videos, its always a pleasure to watch you zippin arround in your yard and also for the quality infos :)
I also have a question, I recently started into the fpv hobby and bought myself a beta65s + some gear to get used to flying, also training on some sim.
@@NickBurnsFPV ok thanks for your help :)
I know you removed the trees but what about a little tunnel or something you can leave out and take in when you want for that little extra bit of difficulty > power over house and then through the tunnel
Tunnel, interesting idea. Like a vertical tunnel?
@@NickBurnsFPV yeah nick you know like a kids little tunnel tent
big powerloops and "dives" down the trees would be something new.. oversimplified, try breakout from two dimensions into the third one.. at least that breakout into 3rd dimension is what i keep telling myself to break out of the one flightplane close to the ground with the occasional obstacles.. it opened up my spaces to also think vertikal lines.. i do like your channel and i am very impressed what you pulled off over time indoors.. - your speed increased considerably, your reviews are and always have been very nice to watch!!
Wow! What a nice cap! Thanks for review! ;)
Remember to tighten the motor screws, mine came loose on the first day and I'm still waiting for replacements because the screws are super tiny and really hard to fjnd
good tip. Thank you
We need more power loop attempts in all reviews! Just a suggestion, thanks!
Noted. Thank you
Nice backyard to put some race gates. 😁👍
Nice one bruddah, very insightful! My friend RyanTan used this in a toothpick race and beat everyone else who was using 2S! LOL
Nice review Nick! 😎👍
Cool vid scheck motor screws one was a bit loose on yours
Will do. Thank you
My 1s toothpick is the og unibody toothpick frame, prototype zeezwhoop aio fc, hyperlite 1103 12622kv motors, cm123 camera, pandarc nano400 vtx, xm+ rx and I'm using this super thin canopy I found on thingiverse and hq t65s for props, though I also really like the og whocares 65mm props alot, I think hand built quads will always be better (weather built yourself or bought from a custom builder) but that bnf seems pretty good I hope the fc holds up
Is Kanye making AIO now :). Building is better, I suspect the BNF market lives on the knowledge required to choose good/correct parts and then the building/setup process.
@@NickBurnsFPV lololololololololol no some chinese company Bob is working with on the babytooth hopefully available soon depending on post offices and all that
Very cool. At about the 1:50 mark you did a spin. Can you do a double or triple spin?
I could but it might stop my momentum on something this low weight. Also camera angle plays a role in the yaw spins....looks wonky with 45+ degrees camera angle.
Is there a setup guide for the HX100 SE to bind/betaflight setup and configuration? I'm going to be getting mine later today and am looking for initial instructions/guides.
With the internet being such a big place there is likely a video including setup. In general with quads they are much the same from quad to quad....radio to radio.
Also there should be a quckstart guide on betafpv.com, it might be either in the support or download section.
I see you changed something in your daily gear.. Will you be doing a review/show and tell on the Orqa's?
I will be doing a video on the Orqas. I had hoped to have it done already :(
Well, wanted babytooth really bad, but did not want to spend 60usd just on shipping alone so i ordered this HX100 SE couple of days ago. Guess i wont notice the difference as i ll probably fly it exclusively in small park in front of my house.
It was tight on your guns !! Lol. Great vid again thanks. !!!!
Isn't that funny!
There's a better variant of this using the higher kv motors from the meteor 75 and 450mah cells. Gives more flight time but still more speed if you want it
Why did BetaFlight discontinue it? Love mine wanted a 2nd and found out they stop selling it
I don't know. Its a bit of a shame.
Great video ceep the work up and I wanna get into the hobby it's just I'm trying to find a budget build maybe that could be the next video you make is a budget build
The kwad in the video would be a perfect place to start..... Self builds can cost more than these and simply work.....
I also love these 1S rippers these days.. However I would much rather be flying a babytooth, built exactly to Kabob’s suggestions.. There is something special about how that quad flies..
I haven't had that pleasure yet myself. When I go check for parts they are out of stock. :(
With NBD canopy, then you’re at a Babytooth which rules on the HQ 65 mm or Primo 1 which is a gram or two lighter than this and runs on Gemfan bull nose 65 like this .
Nick Burns true. I think that battery is the other weak point of this quad. Otherwise pretty cool for a BNF.
it would be interesting to make a TP3 with alternative components, like motors, frame etc.
Since you asked....i recently modified a TinyHawk (the original) into a 1s 3 Inch quad. It uses the TH FC and canopy. Using Flywoo 1202.5 11500 kv motors, HQ 3020 props. Playlist on my channel.
the one that had prop guards?
@@NickBurnsFPV yes,. I cut all that off and just used the center portion as a canopy. Perhaps you could take a look. I don't want to spam , but it's on my channel fairly recent. 😉 It's a 6 video playlist, the one titled " breakdown" shows the process.
Still been waiting on your review on this wont get nothing that dont come across the Nick Burns test desk. Thanks nick
lol. Thanks for being so patient. I totally miss this one, came out months ago.
Greetings a question friend the beta store fpv in which country is it located??
I believe they are in China.
Love the Emu!!!!

Darren Allatt last night yes , tonight no, tomorrow night ..... always a possibility....
Powerloops Nick, hook in mate haha.
Anything specific to power loop? I sometime do power loop the house from the shed to the chimney side.
@@NickBurnsFPV I reckon a big half power loop against the trees then stop it mid and dive the chimney? Wish I could just pop over for fly and see what we can rip. Always interesting when you see someone else fly in a space that you've flown 100s of times.
They find new thinga straight away haha
For freestyle please do the flick turn or 180 turn where you go one way then flick the stick forward and then sideways to make your self look behind you it’s a simple trick and I shave found some quads can do it and some can’t so it would be a good tester as the better freestyle ones can do this and the less good ones can’t
so half flip forward and then a half roll?
Nick Burns correct or any other combo you desire you can do roll first then flip but I find that the fastest way is half front flip half right roll that way it’s like a swish of your thumb .
hello, how to bind this quad to jumper t18, please help
What receiver does yours have? What step is stopping you from binding?
I'm surprised you dont run race gates, and a dive gate where you usually power loop;)
Its a setup issue. If I have to spend time setting up I likely would get to fly nearly as much. Setup and tear down time is a barrier for me.
I say hit some of those "Y" tree gaps. Not a trick just a different line. I thought you were going to do it and then I was let down LOL 😂
I wish the BT2.0 was cheaper in Aus. I use Xt30 for my 1S atm, even on my tinyhawk haha. They are exactly half the price of a BT2.0
The cost is a barrier to the manufacturers too, Betafpv seems to want sell them over cost of the established connectors.
👍👍
back at ya!
I can’t for the life of me figure out what size nylon screws/nuts to order for this. And where ? Help !!!
The size of most micros is m2. not sure on the length, I would suspect where your needing the screws
“Like 168”. Thanks for sharing this little one with us. No 1s for me, I fly my 75 whoop on 2s n the 85 whoop flys on 3s.😎🎮🤙🏻stay up
My favorite 1S build is: none! Don't like 1S - batteries don't last long enough (flight or durability). I've got a 3S Babytooth that I think I can fly anywhere I'd fly a 1S, and it's as small as a 1S Babytooth, super quiet, and more fun (according to people that have both).
does the babytooth stand up to the weight of 3s. It must I guess if your having fun with it.
You could dive the hole where the trees stood
I was checking that out, its huge and not really a hole, but I am still investigating it.
Babytooth frame, 1202.5 11500kv, gemfan 3016, Caddx ant, flywoo Goku vtx, gnb 600mah
Which 1202.5 is that the fpvcycle motors?
2017 golden setup / super S stack / 3” props 1102 10k / wolf whoop aio cam :)
What weight do you have on that setup?
Nick Burns I can check again I believe it’s fairly close to this but used a tpu mount on the 16x16 to hold the camera up front.
Last photo I have with 1s is 44.8g on a 500mah gnB
Ah also just looked at the rig it’s an omnibus f3 aio 16x16 that’s why it’s lighter
what editing software do you use? Edit: I am sad... RIP trees :(
Recently I had to switch to adobe premier. Up to about two weeks ago I used sony vegas for about 3 years. Davinci Resolve is a good full featured editor as well, and its free.
Nick Burns nick I use Vegas why did you have to switch ?
do you know how to change the vtx channel?
We need to go into the OSD, both sticks down and in, select features then vtx, make the change from there, be sure to save on the way out of the OSD.
With the open spot in the middle of the yard you've got room to practice rubiks cubes.
Link?
is that the half flip full roll and another half flip?
@@NickBurnsFPV ya or half roll, flip, half roll is also a rubiks I believe.
Another favorite of mine is the half roll, half inverted yaw spin, half flip not sure the name on that one though or just the classic inverted yaw spin. There's so many possibilities with mixing things together.
hang a gate or 2 in a tree?! or even a gravity gate you could use to test these micros in a uniform fashion. a manufactured unit of measurement like youve done with the punch over the house. 🤙🏽
Now you can do power loops in your garden 🙈
Sure, I need to take a look from up top, not sure where I should punch out of
Bt 2.0 is stupid imo 🤷🏻♂️ the newbee drone v2 canopy is definitely a great option for whoops.
Have you used them? Just the experience of plugging and un-plugging them is enough of a reason to upgrade from ph2.
Yeah they just have absolute noticeable more performance then ph2.0 and don't wear out fast. But yeah it's stupid right
If you’re a racer maybe, as casual whoop guy I don’t care. To each his own 👍🏼
Opposite
Try a power loop through the cubby house and land it on the top of the slide. Slide down the slide and take off before hitting the ground. Saw Mr. Steele do that trick in a video. Took him a few goes but he pulled it off.
I will have to give that a go, need to check the clearance above the slide side, there might still be a branch about 6 foot up....but still maybe.
Motor 2 has a loose screw
Gotcha, Thank you
I've been flying a Babytooth build recently with all of Kabab's recommendations except the frame where I use LeDroneClub's deadcat frame cut by CNCMadmess.
Nice, making good out of a negative is always good. They haven't used tape around our playgrounds.
current go to 1S rotorbuilds.com/build/22847
That's an interesting name..."War pig"
I built one, and it's quite fun. Here's the forum with other 1s toothpick formulas, check it out: www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?3288439-Maximizing-1S-Performance/
My build is the hx100se frame and beebrain canopy, happymodel 1102 13500kv motors, Whocares 65mm props, a crazybee f4 v2.0 FC, BT2.0 and gnb 450mah 1s batteries. It weighs 30.0 grams. I'm gonna update it to the crazybee f4 lite and the Betafpv C01 camera, and that should drop the weight into the 28's. The Betafpv 1s board really is light, but I can't stand those tiny pads!
Thanks for that, I will have to check them out.
Oh and flaming hoops where the. Trees were. Hahahah Just kidding.
I don't suspect the neighbors would enjoy the flames. :)
