    It's the most freakin durable quad i have seen! 1.5 months outside in the rain with Lipo connected completely lost after crash, found by some random woman, asking if it were mine! 3 months later crash into hip deep water, completely under water for 10-15sek, again in flight, armed, letting it dry out for few hours, helped with hair dryer, fully OK! crazy little thing haha Additionally I got myself another one when the first was lost, still have both of them :)

    Hey, I'm glad the durability is holding up for you. I was one of the first people to test this quad, and I made several suggestions about durability, which they incorporated into the final design. Looks like they got it all right except for that silly antenna. Oh well. If you want to know where the design tweaks and motor/prop combo came from, you can check that out on my channel. Anyway, thanks for everything you do for this hobby! Happy flying! ;-)

    Hi Joshua, I have not commented on any of your videos before although I follow you big time. Although your video is a year old I Just felt the need to after building one of these myself. I have built the FPV version and although new to the scene this year (already built several quads all up to 3 inch) I have to say that this set up is an awesome quad. It it so quick and a joy to fly. I followed your tune to turn off D-min etc flying this brings me so much joy its bad ass. Keep up the awesome work you do Sir you are such an inspiration to so many people during these hard times. Thank you so much for putting in all the work you do you have helped me and I am sure so many others to enjoy this amazing Hobby. Keep safe!

    My son and I started on micros and then moved to 5". We still love flying all our micros, especially at parks... They don't raise the Ire of the Karens!
    Early micros had quality and durability issues for sure. We quit buying them, tho, because of that. But now, they have grown up. Looking forward to trying your tune on the 2 of these we ordered today. Thanks for the thorough review Joshua!

    Your pool reminded me of my dads above ground pool, he didn't drain it, but would stop caring for it... I put bluegill and crappie in it one fall, fished all winter practicing catch and release, no mosquitoes that spring either. Dad wasn't real pleased when he finally figured it out... 1983 was a long time ago!

      We clean it in the summer but over the winter there's no point so we just let it go. Draining it doesn't actually make it easier to clean in the summer.

    I love mine. My only issue with 4s with the bi blades is that theres so much jello. I have used 4s with the 3 blade props and the flight time was insane when cruising around. Some jello and high throttle but not much. Also made a small ND filter for it and it has helped with some of the problem.

    Since you asked JB. That swimming pool could use some cleaning. Just kidding! Great video as usual and I did learn something today that you don't use the pool in the winters, and of course, the had quad that you were whipping around.

    Who should buy it ? Someone other than me, who has already spent way to much on those " reliability issues ". After 3 quads and three failures, I'll wait till I see a long term review before BetaFPV ever sees a dime again. You got a good one, and could be they have fixed their poor reliability, but I won't gamble 160$ to find out. I have a 3" XJB that has been super reliable for over 2 seasons ( with crash repairs of course). Good review as always, and thanks !!

    Loving the Channel JB learnt so much. As for reliability of the HX115 HD, mine arrived this week & out of the box Voltage or current was not being reported in BF. Upgraded to 4.1 same, made sure ESCs were on latest firmware, flashed back to 3.5.1, then back to 4.1 but nothing. Seems like a FC issue to me, so sent it back & immediately bought another one :-) I had ordered a RunCam addition but was initially sent the Caddex version. Kind of glad it was faulty & had to send it back the FPV view seems so dark on the Caddex unit. New one should be Runcam & here tomorrow . Happy days

      @@treses_1362 Hi. I got 2x HX 100 . One was the updated frame from the reviews 2mm and got 3 more spare ones. Have to say I crashed many times and haven't broken anything-yet :D even if it happens I'm ready to replace. Betafpv send the frames with all the hardware and the foam and battery strap. Could nearly build another quad out of this. The other one I have is crossfire and that one has a better (maybe even stiffer)frame with thicker motor mounts. Not sure why they didn't ship them all like that 🤔
      But I agree , I have tons of fun with them too. Great little quads.

    Lots and lots of "TWIG" (Tiny Weight In Grams) type 3" quads out there now in that formula. 4 arms, 1105 motors, half a dozen 2-4S whoop style AIO FC/ECS boards now that are decent, good 2 blade 3" T-mount props. What's new and super special from the zillions of other 3" models of the last several years - mostly lighter weight parts.

    Setting Antigravity to 3 or Off even, may help with the oscillations on throttle punches. With the default I-term being higher in 4.X, 5 is too much AG for some quads.

    The durability issue on the 3” is fixed as far as I’m aware. On the 65mm they have upgraded the frame to be thicker and the strengthened it up in a few spots. Sadly I have the original hx100 frame on mine and I broke it but it took a lot to do it. Waiting on a replacement frame now 👍

    I really wish they put the emax 1306b motors on these (the T prop 1306 version). You could run even the hq t3x3x3 on 4s butter smooth. It doesn't quite feel like a 5 inch of course. but honestly you might think it's a 4 inch XD.

  • @FilipRadelic

    Split nano is for whoops and Toothpicks, 3" can do better. With only slightly wider motors it could just as easily carry a RunCam Hybrid and have up to 4k video + a proper FPV feed. A bit more KV and you really don't need 4S so your AUW would be very similar.

    Had this been available when I started flying multi rotor FPV and had I known of cheap goggle, radio, battery and misc. options. For the same price and maybe a 20 or 50 dollar bill more this would have been head and shoulders above my "green" dronium for starting on a good path of freestyle multi rotor FPV. That is to say "grown into" and not "grown out of" said drones. But that is another story for another time amongst folks whom may inquire when face to face while rippin and chillin in the near future.

    i only have 3" and 7" quads lol (big gap i know) but i always love going back to 3" because they are so stress free. i've hit tall pine trees with them and fell out of the sky and they can just bounce up and keep going. dare i say it; its almost like since there is less weight there they don't break as easy. don't get me wrong my 7" rooster with your fc and esc can take a beating but if you land on the battery it'll usually rip it out because of the force and speed on larger kwads, but micro or minis just flip over and keep going... all in all i do love how it feels to fly larger kwads though so i go back and forth:/

When i gradually increase throttle the motor spins up faster until about 1500 then it starts decreasing this started when i went to test hover so i brought it back to the bench and ramped them up individually with same results, i can however blip full throttle and they do spin up the max amount. I can't find any problems online that seem similar.

It works great out of the box. Of course you can build a quad that might be better but this is working out of the box and can do a few updates to make it better (put some foam or battery pad under the frame for the battery not to hit the usb, change the vtx antenna for a TBS triumph pro for better video range and you have a good quad.) Yes, it adds to the price but it work with no hassle. Look, it's all down to what you intend to use it for.

Aactually thinking of taking the motors off of it and putting it on the hx100 for some 2s racing. Their 11000kv which would work on the 65mm props but I kinda think It might be a touch too high at the same time. Oh well gonna try it anyway 😋

    Anyone thinking to build for a three inch t style triblade should check the Emax 1306b motors out. They are very smooth and have almost no "coggy' feeling. The 1408s are very coggy though beware! kind of a bastard motor imo unless some 3.5 or 4 inch t style props are available? (Anyone else notice the avan 3.5 inch prop on their thrust test tables???)

      Mr. Pink FPV 1306b are good motors but that’s a whole different type of 3”. I use those motors on my 3” go pro hauler. On this setup 1105 is ideal

      This is my quad version of the v8 swap Miata. Hahahah! Just for fun, and it's loads of it lol.
      I do have a heavier, basher frame so that's a factor. But rocking the triblades on 4s have even less propwash than on a lot of 5 inch quads. And it punches out almost identically, but doesn't hit the same top end speed.

      Mr. Pink FPV it’s an apples to oranges comparison 1105 to 1306, they’re just made for different weight classes all together....also the 1306 are the bigger mount, they wouldn’t even fit the quad in the video

    I'm still learning the whole stator/kv/prop relationship. It was mentioned that 4s with the tri-blade would be too hard on the ESC since they are 5000KV motors and that a bi-blade 3020 prop is more suitable. Why is that? Is it about the amp draw of the tri-blade with that pitch? Out of curiosity, what would be a better motor to use with a tri-blade and 4s on it? Or is there one? I'd like to be able to get the knowledge where I can read the specs on a quad and get a feel for whether the motors it has are appropriate.

    • @sixtofive
      @sixtofive 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      With the triblade vs biblade it's an issue of the 3 blades producing more thrust, which requires more energy, which draws more amps. To go triblade on 4s you would want to go down in kv to 3300-3700 or so. Lower kv means that at the same voltage the motor will rotate slower. At higher kv the motor will attempt to rotate faster, but if the prop requires more energy to get up to speed the amp draw will increase which can overload the esc.

    • @amen_ra6926
      @amen_ra6926 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sixtofive Makes logical sense. How do you know what lower KV would be appropriate then?

    • @sixtofive
      @sixtofive 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amen_ra6926 For me personally, it's just from having kept up with what's being produced and getting an idea of what ranges seem to get good results from a combination of my own experience and from watching reviews on TH-cam. In truth there is nothing set in stone, and what will work best can vary greatly depending on what results you're looking for. Some want higher kv and are looking for raw performance at the cost of shorter flight times. Some people go lower kv and value longer flight times for laid back cruising flights. For me, I like to try to find the balance in between so I can get efficiency, decent flight times, and good performance. That's a moving target that every one searches for, and all of these numbers change based on the relative weight of the craft you're flying. It's complicated, but eventually it becomes some what intuitive.

    • @sixtofive
      @sixtofive 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@amen_ra6926 For a more direct example. I have 2 custom 2" builds made for 2s batteries and both use 1103 size motors. One is on the heavy side at 85g and uses 8500 kv, the other is much lighter at 52g and uses 11000 kv. For the heavier build I need to use 450-650 mah batteries for good flight performance while the lighter one uses 350-450 mah for best results.

      I did it easily in the FreeFly warehouse, but in a regular house, I think many pilots would find it difficult due to the power/speed. Also, when flying indoors I really prefer to have prop guards because you bounce off the wall so much.

Like I can't speak for everyone else but I clicked on this video to watch it because i was interested in learning about the particular product youre talking about. Anyone that feels the need to go out of their way to make a ignorant comment period let alone about something they seen in the video is immature and has no business being here and need to kick rocks and go watch videos on (RESPECT)! sorry that just bothered me and it really annoys me when i see/hear such things happen.- on another note Josh i highly appreciate the time and dedication you put out into making you're amazing videos.
