I have used these speakers for around 5 years. I absolutely love them. I recently decided to check and see what was new in the PC speaker atmosphere and if there was any new competition. After about 2 hours of watching reviews for different speakers, I have come to the conclusion, there are no speakers at this price range that even come close. The Edifier G2000's were the closest thing I saw but not even those are as good as the Bose Companions. Just for a reference to people. TH-cam compresses audio. Even in this review, the audio does not do these speakers justice. These speakers have amazing bass quality for their size. If I get up and go get a drink or go to the bathroom on the other side of the house I can actually hear the bass in the walls depending on how loud i have it. Even better than the bass is the sound quality. You do definitely get the sound that most people expect out of a Bose product.

I have a pair I've owned for 2 years. Moved from a much larger (and more expensive) speaker setup on my pc to cut down on desk clutter. Generally happy with them. Very spacious and sound good with what I do. Have a pair of Creative Pebble 2.0 hooked up to my pc at work and the Bose are considerably better then something like the Pebbles. Should be considering the extra cost but I think people looking for smaller cheap computer speakers are likely to be considering something like the Bose or Pebbles.
How can I tone the bass down? It is harsh! I've tried placing them away from the armoire walls, lowered the volume and placed sound absorbent under each and the bass is still horrible! Otherwise the speakers are great, but the bass is too much. Thank you for posting this review.

These computer speakers are pretty sweet, I actually picked mine up from a garage sale for 2$, almost brand new, barely even used, and they were quite dusty until I cleaned them, apparently they used to belong to the old dude’s grandson and he bought them for his gaming PC, for his birthday around a year ago, kid barely even used them, and he forgot about them, so he was just like “Eh, just take it for 2$, I’m just trying to get rid of junk around the garage.” So I did, no power cord but I had one that worked just fine on them, I scored luckily on these powerful computer speakers for sure!

I have a new set and never knew they existed until I was looking around online. Seems like to get somewhat "bigger" sound it has to be the right recording, many youtube music videos just don't have what it takes. Also as you say, from a distance away they fall short volume wise, but then, look at the power supply, what can truly be expected from it? If I'm not mistaken 12V 1.35A is low power. Admittedly though, I'm miles from being expert. I think I'm happy with mine *IF* I get many years of trouble free use. Giving us four speakers rather than two? Or, would this adversly affect the sound from the Bose? Or, would there be a power issue? Hope you can help; thanks again for the review.
There's really not much to improve other than connection choices that would do nothing to improve the sound. In fact, things like bluetooth will make the sound actually worse.
@@TheBoomerConsumer Apologies... I missed the recording date. I just bought a set on eBay... hasn't arrived yet. By the time I have it in my hands the USED set will have cost me about $80 USD.
Why..?? They are good for saving space, the audio quality is good for most music but not all music. They fill a larger room with music without having to be near the speakers. Simple installation with computer, phone’s or tablet’s. Convenient headphone Jack.
Can anyone compare the sound of these to the JBL Quantum Duo? Considering between the two since the Bose ones come at a lower and more affordable price point. Really tempted by the JBL ones though ofc, but its quite out of my budget
Got some after looking at reviews and since I own some headphones from them and they don’t have a bad rap why not. If I get them and they aren’t atleast as good or on the Same level at least as my iPhone 13 pros speakers I’m going to return it that’s my limit. If it can’t beat a phones speaker what’s the point
I really dont care about base I only care about voice and music. Which product is good for crestal clear natural voice and instrument that will give me goosebumps? budget was 100$ but can increase to 200$
I own these and wouldn't recommend them. They cannot be turned off. They're not the worst speakers, however, you can do better for the money. I bought klipsch 2.1 Pro media for the same price which also cannot be turned off but their sound is much more full spectrum than the Bose.
I've used these speakers for years, still have them today and unfortunately I can NOT recommend them, at all! Here's why! • These things are OLD. They released all the way back in 2013. And while some audio products can age quite well, these clearly do not, for reference I bought them used for 45€ (48$) in 2018, that's 50€ (53$) today adjusted for inflation. For that price that's a actually a good deal. But this is leading me to my next point • They are getting MORE EXPENSIVE OVER TIME. Back when I bought them, they retailed around 80-90 bucks. Bose's Website listed them at 89.99 But that was 4 years ago, now they retail for over 100 bucks and buying them directly at Bose will set you back at a whopping 149.95!!! That's a price increase of almost 70% in the last 4 years. Way beyond inflation based price adjustment, these things are just unacceptable for that money. • The predecessors are better I bought these because of how Impressed I was with the Companion 2 Series II, they had really bright highs, clear mids and an expressed yet clear bass. Something that the Series III lack of. • No Woofer. There's no reason to get these if they do not have a subwoofer at this price point. Which makes their sound signature feel incomplete. For over 100 bucks you can easily get a decent 2.1 system that has a woofer. If you do not have space for a woofer, there are much more sophisticated stereo options too, comparisons between those and the series III can be found all over TH-cam. So yeah, unless you get them used for under let's say 60 bucks, they're definitely not worth it. The fact that Bose is raising the price as this product ages is audacious.
Had this for 7 years until it crapped out on me recently. Drivers are not user serviceable. It's sealed like an iPhone. Looking into Creative T100 as replacement.
I bought a pair of these just one month ago to go with my new desktop and I was very disappointed. I found the GigaWorks T20 Series II from Creative have much better sound with a fuller range and way better bass. I really wanted the Bose to work for me. After I had the Bose hooked up, I felt they were missing rich deep bass so I bought the T20 Series II and did a side by side test. The Creative speakers sounded way better with better highs, bass and fidelity. Also, the T20 Series cost less. With the Bose, your just buying the NAME.

I bought these. Lot of trouble hearing voices... Very bass heavy.
Which product is good for crestal clear natural voice and instrument that will give me goosebumps? budget was 100$ but can increase to 200$
Where are you finding these for $100?
I own these and wouldn't recommend them. They cannot be turned off. They're not the worst speakers, however, you can do better for the money. I bought klipsch 2.1 Pro media for the same price which also cannot be turned off but their sound is much more full spectrum than the Bose.
Yes I buy all ready good sound
This or the edifer???
If you have the space, go with Edifier
I've used these speakers for years, still have them today and unfortunately I can NOT recommend them, at all!
Here's why!
• These things are OLD. They released all the way back in 2013. And while some audio products can age quite well, these clearly do not, for reference I bought them used for 45€ (48$) in 2018, that's 50€ (53$) today adjusted for inflation. For that price that's a actually a good deal. But this is leading me to my next point
• They are getting MORE EXPENSIVE OVER TIME.
Back when I bought them, they retailed around 80-90 bucks. Bose's Website listed them at 89.99
But that was 4 years ago, now they retail for over 100 bucks and buying them directly at Bose will set you back at a whopping 149.95!!! That's a price increase of almost 70% in the last 4 years. Way beyond inflation based price adjustment, these things are just unacceptable for that money.
• The predecessors are better
I bought these because of how Impressed I was with the Companion 2 Series II, they had really bright highs, clear mids and an expressed yet clear bass.
They’re selling for $150 bucks now.
Is this pair good for listening to speeches too, is it clear ? Thanks.
Very clear
Sadly, I can't find them anywhere cheaper than 125 EUR here in Germany...
99 dollar 1 cent and its 100 .but bose is a good product and first time i am first
than save money and buy bose
I found a pair at a goodwill for $9.99
