That would be if your car has integrated controls on the steering wheel. Then your connection adapter for your car should have a wire to connect to. Brake is for the parking brake so the radio knows when you are not moving (so you can watch videos).
You almost certainly can't, the sellers of these remotes are just dishonest &/or clueless. They most likely only work with generic Chinese headunits such as shown in the video.
Change the battery and open your camera on your phone and hold the purple infrared in front of camera and press buttons while looking through your phone camera to make sure the purple IR is blinking. This will ensure that your remote is functional. No programming necessary.

@@Rickmakes They don't pair as such. IR remotes(exactly the same with traditional IR tv etc remotes) use a particular way of coding the signal, different brands use different codes. There is no pairing, if the head unit 'understands' the IR signal it receives it works, otherwise it does nothing. These remotes have no way to change the codes, so they won't work with most head units. This is why 'universal' remotes come with a list of setting codes, so the remote can be set to match the device. Likewise 'learning' codes record the IR signal from an original remote.
I don't remember off the top of my head. It is covered in snow right now so I can't check. I would try it both ways. You can press a button while looking at it with a phone camera. You will see a little light flicker when it is right.
Are you using a cable? Is it the charge cable that came with the phone? The cable included with your phone has more wires than the cheap ones. This allows for data transfer as well as charge.

This remote uses IR. The radio I am using have a wire to connect to a steering wheel control but I don't have a factory control so I am using this IR remote.
Mine just worked after I removed a piece of plastic to allow the battery to make contact. It uses infrared so it needs to be line of sight to the radio.

You can't, you're lucky it does anything at all. These have fixed IR codes, different devices use different codes.

How did you link the remote with the unit? Mine, even though it came with the unit doesn't do a thing.
It just automatically worked. You do have to pull the plastic tab out to enable the battery to work. You might also try replacing the battery.
You have to be close to the radio, pretty much useless tbh mine only works when it's about 8" away

I didn't have to program this. It just worked. Make sure you pull the plastic tab out of the back of the remote to "activate" the battery.

I just put a steering wheel cover to prevent hitting that elastic band and shifting the remote around.
If I hadn't had the steering wheel re-wrapped, I probably would have double stick taped it. :)
