If the timing's right, the carby's right, valves are good, compression is good, there ain't much else so it's gotta be some small stoopid thing and it's often the small stoopid things that are hardest to sort out. And yeah, it could well be the crank seals, regardless, you'll sort it.
Totally agree. I've got crank seals on order and the only other thing I can think of is ignition coil. I think both of those items were replaced with cheap aftermarket parts last year. I'm leaning towards the seals because of the amount of smoke the engine is putting out. I've ordered both.
Yup, totally agree. I ordered a pair of seals plus the o-ring that goes on the right side. This time I didn't try to be cheap. Not sure if that's the total problem though. I rewatched the video and where I used the timing light to recheck the timing it didn't seem like all of the flashes were the same brightness. 2Vintage just had bike that was running but "boggy" as he said. After trying everything else he started swapping ignition components with another bike he had. It turned out the ignition coil. I'm pretty sure this coil is new, but I think it's not a Yamaha part. I don't have the luxury of another of the same bike, but I think I may have another coil.
Description for the original crank seal situation videos from abt a year ago is 1974 Dt250A Engine rebuild #6 and #7 but the filming ain't as good as it is now for detail.
Hi oldguy I'm from Mexicali Baja California, can you help me get a piston and rings kit for a 1973 Yamaha AT2 125cc motorcycle here in Mexico I couldn't find it thanks I like the videos
Hi Luis, Thanks for watching my videos. You first have to know what size piston you need. Usually stated as which oversize the bore of the cylinder is at. Standard, first oversize, second oversize, third oversize, etc. This would probably listed on eBay as STD 56mm, 1st-O/S 56.25mm, 2nd-O/S 56.50mm, 3rd-O/S 56.75 Etc. Once you know the size of the cylinder just search eBay for Piston for Yamaha AT2. Find the one you need and order it. eBay will take care of shipping foreign or domestic. You will need a credit card or a money transfer account such as PayPal, Apple Pay etc. .

Hang in there Buddy, you will get it. Good to see you haven't given up.
I have no doubt Don.
A leaky crank seal on the primary side would definitely cause the bike to smoke more.

Stay hooked, you'll get it
I will, or I"ll die trying. I love the looks of this bike and am determined to use it to take the motorcycle driving test next year.
Yep it helps to turn the key on LOL.

I did go back and review that. You're right; my camera work and editing sucked. I'm trying to get better.
Yes, smoke is too grey and seems like the idle runs away with itself.
Yup Banana, you're right about the smoke. I think the run-away that you saw was when the bowl was getting empty and it leaned out before it died.
