    If I were to make this now (now I know it'll work) here are the pieces:
    - Foxeer Micro Lollipop Antenna (UFL connector)
    - RunCam Phoenix 2 Nano Camera
    - Any small VTX with a UFL connector that can run from 3S battery (12v)
    - The mount I designed: www.dropbox.com/s/qe8rc6vsrxw...

    Lee- I was a helicopter mechanic in a former life, and always thought that it would be far easier to pilot from an in cockpit perspective, but haven’t been as able at that as I would like. This concept came to mind, but haven’t forged ahead and done it yet. Really looking forward to seeing how well it works and especially the landing aspect. Great stuff you are doing!

    I think this would be my way into helis! FPV it and it's instantly kool!

      Lots more vibration on a heli so it is a little note involved than a Quad... Happy flying

    I've done this with a couple helis now, videos are available on here from my chase 360. IMO a proper well thought out CP helicopter will make a better long range platform than a quad, they're super efficient, and so much fun. Can't wait to see your flight video!

    Awesome work, Lee! 😃
    I'm definitely looking forward to the flight! I'm really curious to see how the FPV feed is going to look like!
    Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊

    FPV and choppers are great and I've been doing it for many years.
    Landing is the tricky bit, a hint I would add is making sure your horizon line is center screen and level in hover, this will help you work out your in a zero movement hover before you land.
    Much like flying a quad but with no smarts like auto level..
    Have fun, Enjoy the adrenaline on landing and I'm looking forward to your flight video.

    i love this idea always wanted to fpv a scale heli but the viberations always kept me away. this looks awsom. nice bonus also fpv gear got so much smaller compared to the old days

      Back in the day I used things like moongel to mount my cameras on for vibration isolation. I had some ready in case I needed it for this... Happy flying

    The next time I get an idea to do something to an aircraft I'm just going to serch for it here first lol. I just did exctly this to a little helo I haven't flown in a long time haha

    Fascinating setup. RC helicopters are interesting, but I keep my distance. More into longer wing birds.
    Regarding rotor disk, you may try adding ND filter to camera. This will blur props and should help reduce potential of jello in image.

    Imagine putting in a naked DJI Vista in there. I wanna get that heli...

    Very nice! , first FPV aircraft I ever saw was a 450 Heli flying through the trees at a club. I mean WOW, one dunk and you go through the whole airframe again!!!!. I use a quad for that. I know helis, and a direct drive is probably the best you'll get for FPV.

    can't wait for the DVR, as for vibrations, on a thin plastic canopy it's possible that you can get them

      Still playing as higher quality cameras with more TVL lines are more sensitive to vibration... Happy flying

    I just velcroed my larva x to the front of my new heli on the training gear x to simulate osd it worked fine mine is the fw 450l v2 would love to add an osd to it but it has the h1 lite fc so I'm looking for a good stand alone osd that is pixel based if I have to I may add another fc just for the osd their is plenty of room I'm down to just which vtx probably a mamba and osd ???? Maybe the newer mamba f7

    It would be cool if you could gimbel the camera a stay level during flight.

  • @tvhs1975
    @tvhs1975 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Very nice idea/work. Maybe the camera would fit where you placed antenna to stay away from the blades in view. But thats a good spot for the antenna as well. 🤔 Hmmm

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sadly there isn't a lot of ckearence under the canopy for even a camera of this size. If there was, then you'd have to find a place for the antenna... Happy flying

    Do you know how to make a model for RadioMaster tx16s edgetx, i have an Align Trex 500x, with microbeast plus and using a Kinsun Receive. Don't know how to program the th16s.

      Not much. The issue is that the vibration is hard to isolate and more noticeable as you use cameras with higher resolutions... Happy flying

    • @Painless360

      Link added to the video description. Use some vibration isolating foam under it to help with vibration. Higher res. cameras seem a lot more suspensible to wobble.
