    I thought it was something like this but obviously there's a lot more to it and not to forget the practice!
    Thank you 👍
    It helped a lot

    Great info for those who are getting into the Heliers hobby. I don't setup any negative whatsoever for any IDLE up with a new help just in case I hit the switch by accident or I made a mistake in the build. I really like your demo heli I just can't stand electric driven Tail Rotors they are too glitchy for my liking.

      Thank Keith, I wanted to help those who wanted to get into this side of the hobby. Not a lot of content for modern helis at the moment so wanted to cover all of the common questions I got.. Agree on the tail rotor, variable pitch and shaft driven are my preferences too.. Happy flying!

    What is the "Gy" curve? Something to do with gyro gain?

    Hello
    Thanks for the explanation, I'm a beginner, I bought the m2 Evo, also the digital pitch meter. as I do now, I put the heli (trotle of ;-) ) in Idle 1 and then via the flight controller, min and max 11 degree pitch. then in normal mode it automatically has less negative pitch, also slightly less positive, and in idle up 2 also slightly less pitch up and down. I still fly in normal mode (horizon), and sometimes, high in the air idle up 1 to practice. My transmitter (zorro) set the store.
    my question: am I doing it right by setting my max pitch in Idle up1? Mvgr Ruud

      You can setup the Heli in the way that suits you. The main thing is to have -2 to about +9 degrees in normal mode and then equal positive and negative in the idle up modes. Pilots setup IDLE1 and IDLE2 differently depending on how they want to fly it. For me, I just use one IDLEUP setting and normal for take-off and landing.. Happy flying!

    Could a heli have a range/endurance advantage over a quad, for a similarly sized craft? I'm not sure what it would look like, but as I think about whether or not to build a long range quad, I also wonder if maybe a long range heli would have some advantages.

    • @bensonblair
      @bensonblair 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suspect there will be quite an advantage to the helicopter but speed will be important. One of the thigns a helicopter benefits from, far more so than a quad, is translational lift. What this means is that as a helicopter picks up speed it can actually reduce its power draw due to this induced lift from the forward airflow through the blades. Testing is the only way to be sure but my money is on the heli. You may ask why helis are used so much less than quads. Well, they are much harder to set up and much harder to maintain. So, like all things, there are compromises to both helis and multirotors.

    I'm a brand new beginner to CP helis (have flown some FP helis to get orientation) and now have Blade 330X I'd like to start flying. Do you have a video describing what setting to use on a first CP heli?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Don't go for crazy high head-speeds and setup the head to give you -2 to about 8 degrees pitch movement max...

    Is it possible to get pot 1 (s1) to control for example the normal throttle curve when you hover?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably. What is it you are trying to do? I'd add a small offset using the rotary control to fine tune. I use curves to have a more precise hover control. See my videos on it.. Best of luck

    In normal mode, for a 450 size heli, what angle could be ideal when you're in full negative? I have observed that for a 5 point throttle curve of i.e 0%-30%-65%(mid stick)-80%-80% throttle, the 950gr helicopter starts lifting at 70% throttle at 4 degrees pitch. So in order to be safe if an upward wind occurs when you want to land, in normal mode, what minimum negative pitch is needed? Would minus 3 degrees be ok?

    • @Painless360
      @Painless360  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on the model recommended settings. I used to flymy 450 class with -2 degrees negative pitch for NORMAL mode...best of luck

    I do not like the helis with a motor on the tail .. im into helis because of the mechanics - shaft or belt driven tail with variable pitch. ;o)

    3D helicopter flying is a bit like throwing a wad of cash into the air on a gusty day.
    You might get it all back but you're probably going to come home poorer, maybe a lot poorer!
