Just curious if you miss the 650hp of the C7 Z06 now that you own the C8?
Just finished 1 year ownership of a C8 and I have to say that there are a few things I miss on the C7 Z06. It was a challenge to drive it fast. If your reactions were not quick enough it could bite you. With the C8, it is very predictable. No surprises. Except I can now go 0-60 in a 495hp car quicker than I could with a 650 hp car. Amazing!!! I really love the "balance" the C8 has. And the PTM is amazing too.
@@RobertMacCready the back end of the c8 gives me trouble I recently purchased a 19gs and love both cars just had to comment because you sound like someone I would like to cruise with lol looks like Florida and you have a jersey accent

This is my very 1st white car ever and I really like it. And with the red interior I think of it as a tribute to the very 1st Corvette in 1953 when they were all white with red interior.

7:15 Those silver wheels really make the white on that car pop. Love it. It does seem like a lot of steps to get ready to launch. I just want a button that says "Kill Stang" or "No Par", ha ha.

Great job! Only suggestion is cut some of the drive to Mexico vid. I'm also a senior who started with a new 65 NB/NB 396-425 and did a fair bit of street and track "work" in the good old days. Lansing, Michigan was every bit a hot bed as was Woodward Ave in Detroit. Thirteen C1s, C2s, and C3s later but no Corvettes for the past 35 years, I just took delivery of my custom ordered 2019 Atomic Orange Z06 auto coupe. Lucked out that mine was also "bayed" (pulled off final assembly for a full QC (Quality Control) inspection car. Looking forward for the next 3 years of taking advantage of all the wonderful "qualities" of this car plus plan on putting many miles on it during that time. My time on earth may be getting shorter but at least I can more easily afford my "drugs" of choice now!!!!!! Robert, are you in S Florida? I'm in Tampa.

I commented on one of your Vlogs you were “Living the dream”. After 19 Corvettes you certainly have lived the life of many dreamers in the car collector hobby. Now with #20 being a C8, is there a possibility of a C8 ZO6 or a Zora out there for you?
You must have a wonderful woman in your life to share the love of Corvettes. I am lucky that at age 66 and fighting a serious health condition, my wife has given me the go ahead to place an order for a 2022 C8 coupe. I entered the order in late July and hope to soon hear from my salesman as to the allocation status. The way things are, it may take some period of time to get the car. I am enjoying your presentations on TH-cam!!
Thanks for the note Kerry. Yes, this is #20. My 1st one was a 66' and it was a nightmare. Wonder how I ever went back to Corvettes. So, I got my 20th in November 2020. And from 1993 on I raced my Corvettes for about 20 or so years. (Mostly autocrosses and some Time trials).
And I'm thrilled to have lived long enough to drive a mid-engine, DCT Corvette. It is such an amazing car.
So, I hope you get your car soon. I waited 15 months. And, trust me, it's worth the wait.
And I'm on a list for a Z06.

This won’t work too well in a race. I have a c7 Z06. How do you keep the car from doing that initial move as the revs build? Thats enough movement to cause a red light or need to re-stage.
If you turn off vehicle in track mode, it will start in tour mode (quite) . If you turn off in sport it will turn on still on sport ( loud).
Do you have to push the button again when you move it over to sport 2 or just scroll over to sport 2?
I'm trying to remember but I don't think you have to push the button again. But I'll double check this week and reply here. I do know you can actually leave the car in "launch control" and drive around town all night. Come to a light, and you're already to launch!!!

I have actually pahk'd my cah in the Harvid Yadh before. But I'm a resident of FL now. Funny how people I talk to pretty much know where I'm from. haha

Actually, if I remember correctly, The red stitching came with the red interior. Think the red paddles come with the automatic. I knew with the red interior, the red stitching and red paddles would work pretty nicely. I also tried to match the red stripes with the red calipers. The stripes were done at a local shop that wraps cars and trucks.

I can only speak for my father whose 2019 Z06 was one of the last examples built, whereas these last few all had the same configuration (according to the dealer) which seemingly was called the „all black“ edition inofficially: Black raven exterior, silver stitching, black paddles, steel brakes in red and red seatbelts. Whatever, I‘m in love with the Z06! Easily outperforms the SLS AMG handling-wise.
I am surprised by this video. I have never done a launch with my c7 z06 because I have honestly been afraid of screwing it up. When revving too much I have fishtail. Does this launch procedure not cause it to fishtail?
Get the car pointed straight it should work find. I did this with a camera in one hand, and the other on the steering wheel.

Do I need to turn off traction to launch? And is it as simple as holding the brake down, then press the gas, then let go of brake?
Tap that button twice, jam on the brake pedal, floor the gas, let the rpm's settle, then take your foot off the brake...
Hey Bob I’m doing a 1/2 mile race at the Ocala airport on 10/28. You might see another white Z07 in Mexico that week. I’m pretty sure my mother lives in your neighborhood and I’m staying with her all week.

Launch control. Just want to clarify something. With everything set up , pedal to the medal. You’re saying the rpm will come back to 2000 rpm AUTOMATICALLY with the gas floored.
Yes, the RPM's will blip and then settle down back around 1900 to 2000 RPM's and then you're ready to launch. Just wait a bit till the RPM's settle then lett'er rip! Just make sure you are applying a serious amount of pressure (with your left foot) to your brake. Then quickly release the brake and enjoy the launch!!!

When in launch control do you put transmission in D or M?
I always had it in D as I think the auto will shift faster.

Hmm, I must have been doing something wrong. I was stomping the brake pedal as hard as I could and the car kept lurching through the brake force and the RPMs never settled. I'll have to reference this video the next time I try it 👍

I also have a 17 ZO6 that I will now attempt your launch control demo, thank you! It really looks good in white, mine is black rose. I have no intention or desire for the C8 until the ZO6 version is out. What are your thoughts?
I love that black rose color. It is one of my favorites. On the C8 I have one on order but It's stick in the Assembly Plant waiting to be build. I love the Z06 but the new mid-engine is an amazing car. Will probably get a C8 Z06 after the car is out a year or so.
So Robert did you your C8? No way I'm giving up my 2017 ZO6 unless it's for a C8 ZO6!

Who doesn't your gage cluster go into track mode? It's locked in touring or sport mode. When I put mine into track it always changes.
on the 2019's there is an option to synch it to the driving mode or display one specific mode.
Skip to 1 min 30 seconds for the procedure.

Those are stock tires that came with the car. Trying to keep it real world and not introduce variables.

Great video and info. However, I could watch the last 8 seconds longer. Next time, give yourself another 1/4 of distances on that road. Ended a little quicker than I would have liked.

Good question Steve. If my brain remembers it, I think it's about the same RPM. I will check it out. Now you're making me drive to Mexico again...haha.

I dont like the hesitation using launch mode. Better just use yourfoot to 2k rpm ,keep in track mode and ,traction control on and launch yourself. No hesitation that way on the track that could lose the race.
Not sure if it's quicker or not till I try both ways but my question would be WHY would Corvette put in launch control if just a simple foot launch were quicker?
nothing more than a brake stand. the torque converter could prob do 2300.
