- Let's have a look at and take a drive in a high milage but stock 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX Hatchback. Actually technically these were called Impreza WRX Wagons when they were new, but that always bothered me because I just don't think its long enough to be called a wagon.

I’m looking at buying an 04 WRX wagon. 134k miles. $5k OTD. Hopefully it’s not a pile.
HATCHBACK!! Love the Regualr Car Reviews style commentary. Unfortunately, the price of these cars in Australia, sedan or HATCHBACK are starting to creep up. Even with 200,000 km (120,000 miles) on them.
Lol I love Regular Car Reviews too but I wasn't trying to imitate them, I was more imitating all the young dudes who come into my Subaru dealer and complain loudly that Subaru does not offer a WRX Hatchback anymore. It does sound sort of RCR though. Thank you for watching!
@@CarDietrich No worries. Just picked up on the fact that the tachometer is mounted in the centre, like a 'Porsche', with a German accent.
Ze Porsh-Ah
Mine only has 159k on it men all I can say is I love it even though ppl say is old
@@CarDietrich jppi
It’s more wagon based on door style and cargo space.
Older wrx's with the 5 speed had crappy bushings from stock, add on top of that over 200,000 miles and that's why the shifter looks like compete ass.
It's Trevor from GTA 5
How is the reliability on these cars compared to a honda or toyota ?
Assuming all the scheduled servicing was done and the car was never abused/modified/crashed, just as good as the average Honda or Toyota. HOWEVER, if you're looking at a 2004 WRX now, at this point it is 16 years old and who knows what might have happened to it. As a general rule WRXs are very reliable but the owners are not, as the are likely to beat the cars up, modify them, crash them. So be careful if you're looking at a used one, I strongly recommend a pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic.
@@CarDietrich That's fair I guess looking for a good example would be the real problem than thank you for the reply
No problem best of luck in your search. I wish I could tell you where to look but unfortunately there is no secret stash of extra-clean old WRXs... I wish there were though!!
It says Impreza but isn’t that different than a WRX
Back in the day the WRX was an Impreza model

I drive a 1.6 95 bhp awd version of this exact car. It's got just over 104000 km on it. Really not much for a 16 year old car. I live in Norway, which is why I use km.
The car is such an old fart in fifth gear uphill (80 km/h highest limit where I live), but goes absolutely apeshit in fourth! Goes from about 2200 rpm and dropping fairly much (70km/h) in fifth, to just about 3100 rpm (80km/h) in fourth! That's kinda much.
I'm also grinding and painting my steel rims for the winter!
That's low kilometers for an '04! Enjoy it, I'm sure its great in the snow and ice. Thank you for watching from Norway!
@@CarDietrich Yeah! I bought it when it had about 96600 km on it, and it was winter. And it's a super car for winterseason here! Much better than other cars I've driven.
My dad had a 2004 WRX just like the one in this video, he lives in the mountains where it snows quite a bit. He'd put Michelin Ice X tires on it in the winter and it never got stuck, even in a foot of snow.
@@CarDietrich Like a tiger in deep snow! Michelin tires are the best. Still haven't had any problems getting stuck with Hankook. (new in march, used for a month or so until summer tires were put on) When I'm done painting them they will be put on ASAP. Getting cold now.
I'm excited to see how the car performs this season. Hoping for some challenges, but there isn't always much snow here. Gotta drive wisely regardless
Should be much harder
That's what she said!
