I am old so I know this is how your mom and gran made theirs, we didn’t have instant pudding back in my younger days and we didn’t have cake mix , cake mix and instant pudding came along in the 30 & 40 it is always good for your younger folks and me to know other ways to make great meals with what you have in your house, your teaching is great for me. Bless you and yours always 🙏🏽
The stove custard is the best banana pudding. I remember grandma would be in the kitchen making the custard. And I be in the the dining Rm cutting up the bananas and getting read for layering the Nillas.. great memories for a life time.
Whenever I make Pudding or Custard, I’ve alway just added my eggs before the milk got hot. And never had to worry about Scrabbling the eggs. Works every time. 😊
My mom makes her pudding very similar to how you make yours. I have her blend the bananas with a bit of carnation milk and have her add to the pot while stirring on stove. I don't like biting into banana chunks either. Homemade banana pudding like this is the BEST.
I'm glad to see somebody making videos to show how this is done the right way without all that artificial garbage. Anyone who tries this should be thrilled with the results, as long as they do it the way you did.
I make everything from scratch i never use box are premixed nor instant , "no pun intended" it's just the i was taught to never cut corners in cooking even with fresh veggies nothing CAN but maybe one day i will yours looks amazing everything from start to finish made from scratch , i love ❤️ THANK YOU , GOD BLESS 🙌
So this is strange but I'm the same way as your daughter. I love banana pudding & i love that banana flavor but once the bananas are in the pudding it is all just too rich. If she ever wants to try something new she can add a few strawberries and that truly helps cut the richness. My grandma made banana pudding & sadly she died so I'm so glad i found your recipe 20 years later. It looks very very similar and i think this is it. But i tried the strawberries for fun one year when i didnt like the pudding as much (i figured it was already ruined anyway) and it was so good! It does have to be eaten within 3 days though. But thank you & i hope your daughter likes strawberries!
Hey Carrie! I found you on TH-cam and I just love you! I live in the Panhandle of Florida. I was raised on country cooking and my mama taught me how to cook. You cook the same way I was taught. Good ole Southern cooking😉You do a great job on your demonstrations. Look forward to all your videos and plan on sharing them with others ! God bless you!❤️🙏🏻
I think you did a beautiful job on your Banana Pudding, I make my pudding homemade as well, and it is the best, I also like how you explained all the details of making the pudding. Thanks
HELLO CARRIE😀 FIRST TIME WATCHER,,, been enjoying your VIDEOS AND RECIPES 😀 I LOVE THE OLD RECIPES AND ITS SUCH A JOY WATCHING YOU MAKE THEM!!! I WILL BE WATCHING!!! GOD BLESS🙏🏽😀💯
It's looking good ready to eat 😋 I always brown my topping for better looks and appearance yours looks great and i bet the taste is definitely delicious 😋 send me some I'm hungry 😉 😜
I just made this version will try to give you update soon. And I really only need it for 2 and I believe this will work. Thank you kindly for your recipe without all that over talking and loud music😂😂❤
Oh YUM!! Hiding my face 🤣🤣 because I always use box banana pudding mix 🤣never again!! My favorite cookie and fruit all in one bowl! I will be making this weekend ! Thanks so much for sharing! Your beautiful pudding pic showed up in my feed, so glad I found you💕💕
Hi Mrs. Carrie. Yes, nothing like old-fashioned banana pudding. Standing at that stove, making the pudding. I agree, not the box mixture. Love me some banana pudding.
Awesome!!! I Have been craving some good ole southern banana pudding.. ❤ many Thank Yous for posting this fabulous recipe. Do you also make peach cobbler ? Please 🙏 post the recipe. Now my Thanksgiving Dinner will truly be blessed .😊
I would love to make this banana pudding recipe for thanksgiving, except I can’t find banana extract anywhere. I’ll just blend up a banana into the milk and strain it with a sieve, like Carla did on the Food Network about a year ago (on TH-cam). Thanks for sharing. I’m super excited to surprise the family and kids with this lol. I like the idea of putting it into a deep pie dish.💛🤍
I made your receipe at Christmas it was a hit absolutely delicious the only difference was I made homemade meringue. I used a double boiler and I notice my pudding wasn't as thick as yours. Should I have just used a regular pot? I used the banana extract and vanilla it was delicious.
I really like your recipe…thank you!!!!!❤ I’m like your daughter…I LOVE bananas, but after several puddings with bananas layered inside the pudding I have concluded that I don’t like them inside the pudding (they become very slimy 🤮) so I have decided to only layer cookies and pudding and then the whipped topping with crumbled cookies, then when I serve it up I will sprinkle freshly chopped banana chunks or thin slices on top to keep the bananas from becoming slimy inside the pudding!!!!
I'm 71 and have always made my banana pudding like you do the only difference is I do not make the whipped topping I use the egg whites from the egg yolks that you put in your pudding after adding it to the top of the finished product I put it in the let it brown to a Golden Glow. I'm going to try the whip topping next thanks for teaching an old bird a new trick.
Good evening Miss Carrie man that banana pudding looks so delicious I haven't happy now to put them so long you have a good night good evening and I hope your New year was excellent God bless you 😋😋😋😋
Hi Carrie, Banana Pudding is one of my favorite desserts. I like to make it from scratch. I also bake it. I made the one you did with the instant pudding. That came out good as well. I hope you have a great week.
Ms Carrie your banana pudding looks so so good and make me think of my mother and grandmother. I’ve never Try to make it with the whip cream so I’m going to try it your way. ❤😊🙏🏻 Ms.Ruby
Excellent 😍😋!! Im definitely going to try this recipe Thank You so much for your knowledge of cooking 😋 my new channel lol God Bless you Lady have a beautiful day in Jesus Name Amen❤
When you use 1/2 vanilla extract, and 1/2 banana extract, does that make the custard actually taste more like banana? Because most people do not use banana extract and so banana pudding is basically vanilla pudding with bananas in it. And to me that is not true banana pudding. Also, Would it work if you used three cups of whole milk and one cup of half and half?
Thanks for this recipe. I was taught to make it similar to this. However, was taught to use double boiler. My question is why corn starch and not flour? My mom used flour. Oh and no cool whip. She’s gone home with the Lord so I didn’t have the recipe and use to make it without a recipe. It’s been 30 something years since I have made it.
My mom makes her pudding very similar to how you make yours. I have her blend the bananas with a bit of carnation milk and have her add to the pot while stirring on stove. I don't like biting into banana chunks either. Homemade banana pudding like this is the BEST.

No ma’am. Just use the vanilla extract and it will be wonderful. The original recipe does not call for the banana extract. Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
I love Banana Pudding. I'm going to use your instructions and recipe ❤❤
Go for it Ms. Eloise. Thanks for watching!
I made your receipe at Christmas it was a hit absolutely delicious the only difference was I made homemade meringue. I used a double boiler and I notice my pudding wasn't as thick as yours. Should I have just used a regular pot? I used the banana extract and vanilla it was delicious.

Yes Ma’am. Delish! Thanks for watching!
I don’t know how I got here but I’m here 😂😂😂😂😂😂❤
New sub here. As I live in Australia whats a substitute for jello!? And when you said can milk, do you mean carnation milk.!?
Maybe blueberries and sliced strawberries on top...looks great!
Does the whipping cream change the taste of the pudding?
Excellent 😍😋!! Im definitely going to try this recipe Thank You so much for your knowledge of cooking 😋 my new channel lol God Bless you Lady have a beautiful day in Jesus Name Amen❤
Looks amazing Ms. Carrie just like my grandmom used to make..🍌🍌🍌
All of it is good to me!🤣😂🤣❤
Looks good
Banana is not a pudding
Without the 🍌🍌🍌🍌🍌🍞
FYI you can smash wafers in the bag the poor over
Mines is still liquid but taste great not sure if I mixed too much or what the case was. 😂 I really need this banana pudding lol.
When you use 1/2 vanilla extract, and 1/2 banana extract, does that make the custard actually taste more like banana? Is the stove on now with the sugar and cornstarch
Haha yes, I'm like your daughter! I like bananas, but not in pudding. My friend makes it without bananas so they call it cookie pudding 🤣🤣
I bought sweetened Condensed milk by mistake. I'm gonna make this and pray it still works! Lol!
I tried lemon juice on the bananas but they still turn dark what do I do
Yummy
Thank you so much for sharing ❤
