I was thinking the same thing lm sure it's not even possible to buy asbestos material from any retailers unless he had his own supple stored somewhere for years.
I've just found some 2nd hand panels, there's lots out there, extending my garage width by 2 feet. They just bolt together. An angle grinder will sort any discrepancies, the free ones I'm getting are 6" too tall. An easy fix.
I have a concrete panel garage and I want to move the garage door opening from the end of the garage to the side of the garage and then replace the door with french opening doors but would this have any structural implications and also what is used between each section, is it a silicone of some sort?
The concrete panels are secured with bolts between the panels. I'm not sure about the structural implication of your modification though. Best to consult the panel garage company first I think.
Just wondered if the membrane is ok a few inch from the edge like you have done, im also getting a pre fab garage and am thinking of doing what youve done, usually the membrane would run up the outer base but with the pre fab base you cant, because you want to see the concrete edge, please help
If the ground is damp for long periods then bridging will occur. However, if the ground is well drained then this may never occur - it will never be a problem. If a damp patch starts around the wall edge then a gravel filled ditch could be installed around the wall outside edge.
If a similar but smaller concrete panel structure of 3x4m was to be used just for a shed/studio workshop would it be ok to lay it just on slabs and not a concrete base?
Hi. The piece of timber that sits on top of the sections running along the length of the garage. How is that secured in place ? I'm thinking of raising the height of mine when k attempt to re roof it. Mine is pent
@@No5Workshop Do you put sealant on the outside where the panels meet as well, or just the inside? Does there have to be anything around the base to stop water coming in where the walls meet the floor, on the outside? Thanks.
@@elizabethj5294 Yes. There's clear sealant between the panels on the outside as well. It's highly recommended to have cement fillet on the inside to prevent water ingress.
Unless this timelapse was filmed in the 1960s the roof is NOT asbestos! It's more likely to be a bitumen based reinforced sheet.

Yeah, it's actually cement fibre. My mistake in the video.
exactly my reaction when he said it!!
Thank you for the video...I plan to do something similar in 2022...
It's helpful and informative. Thanks for sharing
excellent, what was the total cost
Just out of interest what was the cost breakdown for the works? It might be helpful for others considering similar works to their properties. Thanks!
Hi you can find the cost breakdown in this blog post www.no5shop.com/projects/garage-conversion/
@No5Workshop 8k wow
Brilliant video! Did this require any sort of planning permission before building?
Thanks. If the building is less than 2.5 m high then it's not required.
Very good
How wide are the concrete panel sections?
How big was your Garage looking to do the same already brought garage it 18 and half foot long by 14 and half foot wide
Mine is 3 m x 5 m
Great vid, useful seeing 1 of these put up. Can U tell me if rain gets under the bottom of the garage between floor and walls?
You have to put motar around the bottom of the garage to prevent rain from getting in.
@@No5Workshop is that on the inside of the outside?
Mine has a fillet on the inside but rain soaks through it. Any tips on how to stop this?
They all have a cement fillet, they all get damp
How heavy are the panels
so if wanted to remove a door that's been fitted years ago, can i just remove it and then replace it with the same concrete panels?.. please

How were the concrete panels transported to your property please? I'm getting one second hand and need to organise logistics.
The garage company transported the panels with a lorry.
Man with a van... 20 quid per hr...

As long as it's level I guess it's fine. But best to check with the garage manufacturer 😊
Do the panels bolt to the floor? Cant really tell from the footage
No they are bolted together and just standing on the floor
are the panels solid concrete or aircrete?
Solid, but thin. They do the job and can last over 30 years.

Hi the timber is screwed to several steel A shaped frames underneath the roof. Not sure about the pent roof though.
Hi there, what sort of sealant did you use?
I'm not 100% sure but I think it's some waterproof silicone sealant.

How soon after they laid the concrete did they build the garage?
It's recommend to wait for at least a few weeks I think? Best to check with the garage company
How soon after did they wait with yours?
What no steel in the concrete base
Why would your roof panels be asbestos?
No they are cement fibre. My mistake.
Asbestos roofing? 😱😱
Hi what is used to seal the vertical joints ?
Hi that's just some clear silicone.
Asbestos roofing sheets??? I hope not !!!!
How much did garage cost?
The garage cost £4,600. You can find more about it on my website www.no5shop.com/projects/concrete-garage/ :)
@@No5Workshop hi. Did the £4600 include all base work etc??
@@adrianmonk68 No, that's an extra £1500 for a 3x5 m base.
@@No5Workshop many thx for your reply 👍
Asbestos?? Thought it was banned!
My mistake. It's cement fiber actually
@@No5Workshop I hope mine is. I'm going to paint it anyway, to seal it.
Asbestos roof 🤔🤔🤔
