    Having moved in to a new house recently, Im trying to refurb the old garage and Im currently struggling quite a bit to get it watertight in particular between the walls and floor as it has a big gap between them. Any advices there? Think I could pick your brain over it? Great job btw 🎉

    So we have a fairly old concrete panel detached garage on our property and wanna convert it into a music rehearsal space (or at least make it water tight at the bottom for our music equipment which is currently fighting for its life there. And there is ZERO way we could afford a pro refurb. And this video has given me WAY TOO MUCH confidence that with a bit of planning and a LOT of learning we could so do this ourselves…. My partners dad is an engineer who rebuilds cars and stuff… and his stepdad is quite handy- so at least we have some back up if we cock it up

    Very nice. Although like myself I have a precast garage. But drilling in to the walls even with one screw voids your 10 year guarantee. Also meant to be bad for the structure. Was wanting to see how you got the wood on walls but you skipped straight past that part. Precast garage you can only glue the wood beams on to the walls before hand.

      If the ground is damp for long periods then bridging will occur. However, if the ground is well drained then this may never occur - it will never be a problem. If a damp patch starts around the wall edge then a gravel filled ditch could be installed around the wall outside edge.

    Chains, in general, should have some slack in it. It will turn both sprockets consistently even with slack and it will allow the bearings in the chain to roll uninhibited by any unnecessary pressure. You will get weird wear patterns if a chain is too tight and you will have difficulty turning the vice.

    Great video. Did you need sign off re building regulations for this? I'm sat here with the tools and materials but stumped by whether I can actually start or not. All I want to do is insulate and floor the garage and put up an internal stud wall covering the garage door (from the inside) so it is a bit more habitable but everywhere I look it says something different!

    • @No5Workshop
      @No5Workshop 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi I didn't apply building reg because it's not a habitable place. To my understanding the building needs to have at least electricity and water to be habitable. But it may vary depending on different area.
